I am Charlotte Bowyer, a historian of the ‘exploring side streets’ and ‘forgotten buildings’ variety. Join me, as I spend my weekends (and most of my paycheque) exposing the remarkable history of South-Western England. My interests range from Roman Britain to Shakespeare, but my speciality is medieval studies: specifically, the history and language of the Anglo-Saxons.

Waltham Abbey: The Church of Harold Godwinson
Who knew that you could go visit the (purported) grave of Harold Godwinson, the last king of Anglo-Saxon England, on the London Overground?! Waltham Abbey is a fantastic town with many other historical sites, but I had eyes only for those gorgeous pillars.
I kind of want to do a reel about that Doom Painting, but you may be tired of Waltham by now...
