Random stuff at the farm. Spent a lot of time messing with the baler. I still can't get teh knotter trip to work right. I do have a much better understanding of what it's supposed to do and how. The day could have ended a lot worse.

More G-lp radiator woes

So rather than tear the whole radiator apart again I went for option B. I mixed up some two part JB Weld epoxy and covered the hole. I think this repair is good to go, but when i started adding water after the JB has set up I had another drip directly above the original leak. I'm beginning to think this core took a hit in transit. I'll update again after I address the upper leak
Oshkosh helicopter ride

I had decided before we left for the show that I was going to ride the Bell 47 helicopter. I had no idea that I would get lucky enough to get to see the start up check list and engine run up to start my flight. It was worth the money.

Drain gas tank completely & try fresh clean gas. If that doesn’t work you may want to consider lining the tank.
I seen you there!!!
It was good talking with you guys!
Hey bossman What size VW engine is that?
no idea. I'm hoping that it's just a stock 1600. Any more than that and I worry about if the air frame can handle it
yeh ..Bell 47...in class of its own...'nuff said😎👏🇺🇸
My very first helicopter ride was with my dad at the Michigan State Fair in a Bell 47. I was eight years old. I'm on the north end of 60 and have always loved the 47. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for watching. I got super lucky to get to video the whole start and run up procedure. Glad you enjoyed it

Only slightly less blurry than those UFO videos you shot.

welcome to my corner of the UA-cams
The weather has been no better in Washington, Pennsylvania. And with the oppressive heat, we have been getting a nasty little thunderstorm every evening.
I just picked up mine today from the same flash sale. So far it seems like my best buy for the year. I loaded it up with a few of my daughter's hair dryers and it did great all while staying quiet. I feel like I should buy a few more. I'm sure I know plenty of people that would take them for the price.
I just used mine to run my 100 amp wire welder. It did great. I should have videoed but forgot the camera. I'll probably do one when I take it to Oshkosh for the flyin.
Do some work
I'm always doing work. I just forget to video it most of the time.
I think your effort to protect original paint is worth the work.
thanks
Joe, I am catching up on the videos. You may already know the answer. However If you go to Agco Parts book. There you can look up the parts manuals and availably for MM tractors. U 302 tach is 10A26030.
Don't need the tach. I needed the cable. I got lucky and found one at O'Reilly's that worked. I have the parts and operators manuals. I was hoping someone had already done the foot work to find a "local" source
@@Joe_Leising That was the parts number for the tach cable I just miss labeled it. Between the parts book and the Agco site, I have an idea how hard it will be to find the part before I call Welters.

Thanks for the video. E-3 Co-op - MAN - Cloid Baker
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was nice talking with you at the end of the day, and even better to get to plow with you. Hopefully we can do it again next year
This is a nice present! The 445 with figures looks very nice. I have to ask this one and please don't ban me. Are you telling everyone that you have a "Live" Nativity? 😁
No worries...I prefer to think of it as a nativity in motion.
You are the only family I know that have an accurate Nativity in their yard and that is incredible. Thank You for sharing! @@Joe_Leising
Merry Christmas Joe!
Merry Christmas to you as well!
It has been a while, so I hope all is well with you. Just wanted to wish You and the family a Merry Christmas!
We are all doing well. I've been meaning to do more video's, but work and the Holidays got in the way. Merry Christmas To you and yours!
My Uncle had a MM 5 star , it had one hell of a road gear, he replaced it with an Allis Chalmers D17, that was a great improvement
Welcome back. I hope the fishing was as good as the family time. Is this the plow that broke the bolt on Plow Day? I am assuming that the can next to the fuel spout is some sort of cup holder. How do you have the can mounted? If the can is held there using a magnet, how well does it work?
Fishing was poor. Family time was excellent. Yes this is the plow that broke the bolt. The can IS a cup holder. It has a big magnet bolted to the bottom. It works really good. It has a strip of rubber molding around the top for some cushion and cut prevention. Thanks for watching
I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I really like the cup holder. Thank you for pointing out the molding. I will make sure that is included. I think the experimental airplane is going to be an interesting subject. What a neighborhood!! You have heavy artillery and now you are building your own Air Force. @@Joe_Leising
I don’t know much about D17’s but I think it would take a good one to keep up with this 5 Star. Yours was probably stock 283 engine. This one has a 336
I guess either of those phrases will work also. Just like you, I seem to have a garage full of projects. However I was referring to, "How do you eat an elephant?"
I've just bought 2 uni tractors so far as my retirement projects, would love to see any updates once you get started.
Did you ever get it running?
nope. It's on the list of things to do. I did pick up two pallets of parts with enough stuff to build an engine for it. I've learned a little more of its history and replacing the engine is going to be the way to go.
I've been rearranging for four years now. Every time I think I see the light of day....the oceans bring me another wave of stuff I had someplace else. You have a cool dump truck there...
I have lots of cool stuff....just can't get to any of it LOL
House? House project? With a garage like that who needs a house? As long as the UPS man and the pizza guy can find the garage I'm set! tHanks for the video
I'm glad the day worked out well for you. tHanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
my pleasure ! @@Joe_Leising
This looks like it could be a harrowing experience.
boooo......hissssss. I don't know who I was bidding against, but I hope if it was a scrap I guy I pissed him off
@@Joe_Leising Well, you’ll just have to plow ahead anyway.
I love seeing the old moline work!
I enjoy playing/working with my toys. I'm glad you enjoyed the video
Dang that rim looks nice!
Not going to comment about the welding. I believe that a person should know something about the subject before they decide to be an "EXPERT". However I am impressed by the fact that you tackled such a project instead of just buying a rim.
I've never really thought about the size of the project only the size of the bites it's going to take to eat the elephant. All said and done I learned a lot about the welder, its settings, and how to use it. The finished project is sufficient for now. Next rim job will be better
I have barrowed your saying and probably use it almost as much as you do. When do you think that the U 302 will be done?
I have no idea. I hope before the snow flies@@fjordfarming
Nice find. Restored a zb when I was in high school.
I have ZB #67 look through my playlists I did a series on going through the engine on it and thanks for watching I hope you subscribe
Nice score, Joe. T’was nice of you to make up a forklift story and stage it on a trailer, but you’re not fooling anyone. We know you carried it home in a backpack.

Well for Chuck's sake I shoulda seen this sooner and said Hello right back \
What makes it a super?
Cosmetics for the most part. The Super does not have the white nose trim on top or the lower white band across the grill

That turned out nice!
thanks! I can't wait to get it installed and the tractor back in action
I didn't replace the water tubes when I overhauled my 335 and 2 years later they started leaking anyifreeze.😢
We decided we were this far in we might as well fix it right.
Your not going to believe this one, however someone is watching and taking notes on how to rebuild a Moline. I have no interest in owning an R, but the engineering would advance the technology into the models of the 1960's. You are about as high tech as the rest of us "Sundowners" and that is what makes your channel interesting. I will admit that I never thought about the calibration of my Torque Wrench until one of your earlier episodes. I think you are doing a fine job sharing your knowledge and experiences.
Thank you for the compliments. I'm glad to know that someone is getting practical knowledge from my videos. I'm just trying to document now the knowledge that might not exist 10 years or even 5 from now as the "old timers" pass on. I hope you check out my other video series as I have several that discuss some of the evolution of this series from the original late 30's design of the R through the mid to late 60's versions in the U302 and Jet Star 3
@@Joe_Leising I found your channel because of the U 302. I agree with your thoughts on Engineering of the Past. I am looking at your MM videos one topic at a time.
@@fjordfarming I hope you find them fun and informative. I'm not an expert by any means, but I do try to share the things I have learned. If I get a better computer i may try to start actually editing my videos, but until then I'm just going to keep doing what I do.
I haven't been watching? But are you doing a restoration Joe?
It's more of a Rustoleum restoration/rebuild. When we bought it we were told it had been rebuilt with an overbore. Stock form it should have been about 50-55 hoss-p'wer. It never really acted like it had that much, and we had it on a dyno and got less than 50. If you look back through the playlist there is a few obvious things that caused this. It''s getting new rings spaced properly, new valves, and new rod bearings. I'm planning to put a new coat of paint on the engine and buff the rest of the sheet metal. It will make a nice looking mostly original workhorse
@@Joe_Leising sounds good! Definitely a nice tractor even if you just do a Rust-Oleum restoration! I painted an M5 for a friend a few years ago that was a job 97 different parts on the paint rack and five different colors! Looked nice tho when I got done!
Getting closer to going back together 👍
a little bit every day ....
I would go with the Craftsman
I think that's the one I'm going with. We will see when I get to buffing how it goes
I have used Rustoleum appliance white on my newer Minnie's and it matches real good.
That tractor looks like a beast!!
it will be! I'm sure its going to fill the trailer getting it home
Good video. Thanks for explaining rule number 1. I have several of the costalation series.
Thanks, and you're welcome. Since you have some of the Constellations you probably new the rule just didn't know it had a name :)_
That is a GREAT LOOKING U 302 that you own!!! I cannot answer the muffler question from Part 1 because our U 302 had a Thrush muffler. Knowing my Grandfather, the reason was price and not sound or performance. Your question about the nose piece, you are correct the plate should say MM Minneapolis Moline. As for working on your tractor, I recommend a Buckeye on UA-cam who's channel is ANDYOHMM. The man is a "Good Egg" and I think he will lend a hand to help answer your questions.
Thanks for subscribing. I'll probably end up using whatever I can find that fits that looks decent. I am familiar with Andy's video's. In fact I have met and met and talked with him several times. He is definitely a good resource
@@Joe_Leising Ok. Good deal. I recently found your channel. Started to "Nose Around" your playlist after the first comment, not knowing that you have experience with Molines.

Nice tool. You need another card, or a bigger one.. lol.. I do all my videos and editing on my phone, put it up and then delete everything off the phone.. Kinda sucks because I don't have clips to go through later for highlights or anything, but it works for me..
I try to keep everything of any value. I just needed to pull the files from the camera card to the external hard drive. Sounds easy, but this laptop only has 2 USB ports, and I can't work without a mouse.....so we move them from camera to laptop till it's full then laptop to hard drive. Clear the laptop and repeat
Flywheel fix doesn't look bad, it must have been dropped or hit.. as long as the fan belt will stay on it, it should be fine. Little emery does wonders👍 Nice little filter setup, always nice to get extra fittings.
yeah, I think it's going to be fine. I haven't tried a belt yet. I want to polish up the con rod and put it back together to see how a little polish on both helps.
Sweet. She'll clean up and be a good runner. Those old engines are pretty forgiving....
New subscriber here. Gosselin Farms turned me on to you. I have a buddy with that very same engine and it’s a runner.
Welcome to my video ramblings. I hope to make this one a runner someday as well. The list of needed parts isn't huge. I'm just not sure where to start looking
