Leukerbad Switzerland
Leukerbad (French: Loèche-les-Bains, Walliser German: Leiggerbad, although locally known as Baadu) is a municipality in the district of Leuk in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.
The story of Leukerbad dates back to the 4th century B.C. Graves and ceramics attest the presence of habitation in Leukerbad. From the 5th century, the pass of the Gemmi, a unique link between the cantons of Valais and Bern, has been in use.

In 1229, Leukerbad is mentioned for the first time and called "Boez". French was the locally spoken language at that time.

There were plans to put Easy Elsie in a museum, but the locals wouldn't come to an agreement, so sadly she was left in the marsh to continue rusting.
Unwanted agreement because it would have documented one of their many defeats suffered right in the heart of Germany. German pride and arrogance do not allow it.
Some one or many someone’s have picked her clean of parts. Even the fuel tanks are gone.

My grandma built lancaster's at AVRO factory in Manchester during ww2. And guess what her name was Elsie. No joke. RIP grandma. Proud grandson

Or the Avro works at Woodford, possibly Chadderton or even Salmesbury. All former BAE sites where I worked which had heritage/connection with building the Lancaster.

This is an extremely significant aircraft, being the only 617 squadron Lancaster to exist. Sadly all the remaining type 464 dambuster aircraft including Gibsons Lancaster were scrapped in 1946. Even though this is a B1 special, it is very historic and I'm sure could be conserved and displayed better, even partially restored.
Gibsons cockpit internals were saved from his Lanc, it’s at RAF East Kirkby in the U.K.
What about G for George in the Australian War Memorial at Canberra?
