Welcome to MartinWood Studios | Channel Introduction Trailer
hi! nice video, I will do the same. What type of wood you used inside for the benches?
Spruce, same as walls and roof innside(budget). I will change this to cedar or some leaf tree type for saunas one day.
@@MartinWoodStudios thank you. Did you have and bad experience because of spruce? Some peoples said resin precipitation can happen during the high temperatures
How old?
Hey Martin Wes from Canada here. I really enjoyed your new lighting system video. Very nice work. I also enjoyed your classic Tarzan moves on the swinging vines. Cheers.
Hehehe! Thanks
When you first started sanding the piece, I thought it was mistaken because I liked the natural weathering. However, when it was finished and hanging in place, I changed my mind. Good job! Very creative.
Yeah... I like a weathered look too... but I LOVE the fee and lookl of a smooth sanded oak piece 😀
Finnish good Russian not so good Norwegian great humor and attitude
Great video I really enjoyed it and you put your heart and soul into it!
cool build and amazing location. congrats
Pls, send one tall-single-half-naked-norvegian over to Estonia, so, that I do not have to build one sauna by myself. I can return him after sauna if he wants😂.
Hello again my sauna friend. I revisit this video often, its the best one I've found. Did you slope the floor to that drain at all? I'm looking at the "Ben Square" method for my build...
Hi! I did not. With tiles and the right size oven I discovered the water evaporates from the tiles. I have to clean the floors once in a while but that you have to do anyway. Thank you for the kind words!
Very nice, for tiles you could use epoxy grout as normal will crack with wooden sub floor movement. Epoxy will be forever.
Hows epoxy and heat regarding vapor? Thanks for the input! And regards to the sub floor movement thats part of the reason I used those dead material bathroom boards for insulation and deadmaterial non sub floor movement.
@ once epoxy is dry I don’t think it gives vapour as its used for underfloor heating where there is movement. You are right on the boards and if you have no cracking of the grout there is no point in doing epoxy. My bathroom floor looked great when finished by tiler but after a while it started cracking in the grout and we always had some small bits of grout falling off. Ive raked out the grout and redone in epoxy, its super strong and one tile has a hairline crack due to grout holding it together but its very solid. The grouting process is a bit tedious though, constant washing because you cannot let it dry out on the tiles, so you grout and wash and do another little section and wash again, but its forever.
ahhh... grout is what that thing between the tiles is called. I wondered if you were talking about the "glue" I used beneath. Yeah, your'e right. Epoxy grout is the gold star of tiling grout.
@ congrats on a beautiful sauna. And really good video
Thank you. The sauna serves us well these cold days.
Skills! That’s going to last forever!
Thank you!
I’m planning to build a sauna like this during the coming year, so this has been really useful, thank you for going into all the details so well.
Great inspiration, will make another similar one soon!
haha! yeah, it was a fun build...
I like your style, reuse, make your own stuff and don't give more than you have to the "crooks". lol, Free is cheap! 👌
make what you can, buy what you have to
For en nydelig plass dere har🤩🤩 Bygget ble knall bra👍🏻👍🏻
Takk og virker faktisk året etter også :)
Will baby oil un stick a door wall?
depends on how it got stuck
Great job !!! The video was very well done . The Sauna looks awesome .
works great... and I suddenly get a lot more friends over too...
“Luke, I am your father” 😂 nicely done.

You're amazing. Thank you so much!

thanks for clicking and commenting, gives my video better rates! Sexist?! :D hahaha.... you're one of those woke people... get a life
@@MartinWoodStudios Hehe, takker for info.
Hello and greetings from the shores of the Black Sea! And thank you for all the effort you put in making and sharing these videos. I notice these are about 3 years old, do you have any update about them? I am very curious about how they evolved and especially if they have inhabitants 😊
Why do you protect your ears but not eyes? 😂
sometimes I do, depends on the work
great to see mate , i see you love pallet wood like me ha ha ha gives that old look with rusty nail holes , ive used my self inside house projects , beautiful country mate , i see and feel the old ways watching your nature surroundings , im Celtic heritage living in Australia 44 years but never felt like my soul should be here , as i said in previous comment on your channel i think i was born in the wrong century , happy holidays ...skol! . ( if you know of any old people who study the old ways i would appreciate being put in contact with them if thats possible i seek deeper knowledge and tutoring of the old ways )
yeah, I got palletwalls in my livingroom and hallway now :) I don't know of any that follows the old path and the colder the weather gets the less it calls to me... ha-ha-ha! When that is said I would go here and ask the people working there - www.vikingvalley.no/ This artist will raise your viking spirits like none other - ua-cam.com/video/n90SVmnomdM/v-deo.html And this youtuber has written a book on the subject ++ ua-cam.com/video/qKI8o4uTRS0/v-deo.html Go with Odin
awesome mate , great spot in nature your living in there , fantastic , im in Australia but never felt like i belong here , i feel the old ways calling me all the time like i was thrown into the wrong century , building a shed at moment with themed viking wooden internal ,,skol!
I had a month in Perth once... thought of studying there until I visited and felt like the place had no soul - mostly tarmac and some manmade parks.
Did you ever get an owl?
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I want to build a sauna at home in the UK and I also want my future home to be in Norway 😀
I want to go to Portugal during winter :D
Beautiful Video !!!
this is a great video - lovely vibe and what ive read pretty on point design wise. any reason you didn't put a vapor barrier and furring on the roof? otherwise a great build, video and ending! id love to come visit. greetings from Australia.
Thank you. Its how we do the roofs/builds in norway atleast thats the way Im used to do it.. The vapor barrier is the aluminium in the "box", the flat inside roof makes sure the heat spreads evenly... I have never seen a sauna with a sloped roof (as it would be if I had the furring in the roof). DM me if you are close to Oslo 😉
Musta been a camera artifact. :(
I realy like the content! Cheers from Holland.
my build starts next month. I'm taking notes.
Great job sir and thank u for your explanations . I have 20 acres and lots of mice . I hear the owls at night. Their wisdom is about spiritual things, unseen by us. That’s just my opinion but… thanks for the vidieo and instructions.
well done dude.
Thank you! Cheers!
Brother. Did you insulate the floor?
barely... those plates gives me 1cm insulation.. its enough since it's limited how long I'm going to sit there... wood - plates - tiles
This build was great. Very helpful. Thank you!
Try that in the USA with no permit/Permmision from the Government Over Boards see they will make you tare it down and pay fine
yeah... the govern-ment is only there to suck the joy and money out of people
Not in Alaska
is tec7 basically silicon?
its got multiple functions, so no... TEC7 is a universal, super-strong, and flexible MS Polymer that can be used as mounting adhesive, sealant, or joint filler. I think this one will suffice: DAP Dynaflex 920... if you can get it
Great video Matin, a lot of hard work not only to build the sauna but also to produce such a great video. When can you come to Mallorca to build me one? 😀
yeah... 3 kids and fourth coming in january... how about tomorrow? :D
I am getting ready to build my first wood shed. I got thousands of pallets and was trying to think how I could protect the wood. A wood shed will let me process the pallet wood and protect them until I need them. I was wanting to build a sauna, but watching the video I realized I need a wood shed first. I also really appreciated the idea to use the large window, because I have a large double pane window about the same size as you used. I will probably use a metal door because I have one out of a school. I will just have to keep it painted and dry out the sauna when done enjoying it. Thanks for the video.
metal door is not recommended. It will get very warm. Also a sauna should not have painted surfaces on the inside because the heat will make the chemicals in the paint to release and it might bring unwanted odours as well. I would rather use the metal door in the shed (even though I would not use a metal door to begin with). Remember to check your pallets carefully to see if they are chemically treated or HT Heat Treated. Don't use the chemical pallets. Best of luck!
@ thanks for the advice. I will find a wooden door and so far, I have only seen Heat Treated pallets in my lot. I will not use the chemically treated pallets to build with, if I end up with some.
Dude! You are hilarious!!!! keep making these vids bro! Thank you!
Thanks man! I'm strugling getting this video clicks and views... I really like making vids, so there will be more!
Hey, builders. What about simply glass in sauna?? Not suppose to be a specific glass?
I'm not to sure. Dependent on the temperature I believe a double glass will be less prone to cracking because the layers will make the glass heat slower (there is a lot more glass + layers so outside glass will cool inside). But if the weather is not too cold I guess a single glass might work... and there is also a question of how big the glass is - but I don't really know these answers.
Again, great video. I am finishing my project now, and I had to go for plactic vapour barrier. But around the chimney I need something else. I am thinking I could use aluminium tape to stop any leaks of humidity. Where did you buy your tape? Do you remember the brand? Is it holding up that close to the chimney? Have you experienced any challenges with your build after starting using it? Thanks again!
saunapro.no was where I got the tape. I found out the plates I used in my flooring only takes 75celsius before the material will "melt"... but it has not melted. Otherwise I will upgrade my bench material to some nicer leafy tree sort when I feel for it. No challenges so far except for holding back the hordes of friends wanting to do the sauna :)
Dude, super video! I am in planning of making a sauna in the north of Sweden and have learned much from this! 🎉
Thank you for sharing. It is very thorough and funny. You inspire me to maybe build my own. Great work!
I need to know if you ever got any owl residents! 🥹🦉
Close... but I think it prefers the Woods. This was filmed 50m from my home. ua-cam.com/users/shortsjci1xP-WA1k?feature=share
I just had a coopers hawk take down a roof rat today in my teeny little backyard ❤ I wank to make a home or perch for them. But I mainly want the barn owl because these rats are mostly active at night and they are the best. I raised three enough to get them back up with their parents and flying, I love them around.
