      Spruce, same as walls and roof innside(budget). I will change this to cedar or some leaf tree type for saunas one day.

      Hi! I did not. With tiles and the right size oven I discovered the water evaporates from the tiles. I have to clean the floors once in a while but that you have to do anyway. Thank you for the kind words!

  • @Coughinggonzalo
    @Coughinggonzalo 9 днів тому

    Very nice, for tiles you could use epoxy grout as normal will crack with wooden sub floor movement. Epoxy will be forever.

    • @MartinWoodStudios
      @MartinWoodStudios 9 днів тому

      Hows epoxy and heat regarding vapor? Thanks for the input! And regards to the sub floor movement thats part of the reason I used those dead material bathroom boards for insulation and deadmaterial non sub floor movement.

    • @Coughinggonzalo
      @Coughinggonzalo 9 днів тому

      @ once epoxy is dry I don’t think it gives vapour as its used for underfloor heating where there is movement. You are right on the boards and if you have no cracking of the grout there is no point in doing epoxy. My bathroom floor looked great when finished by tiler but after a while it started cracking in the grout and we always had some small bits of grout falling off. Ive raked out the grout and redone in epoxy, its super strong and one tile has a hairline crack due to grout holding it together but its very solid. The grouting process is a bit tedious though, constant washing because you cannot let it dry out on the tiles, so you grout and wash and do another little section and wash again, but its forever.

    • @MartinWoodStudios
      @MartinWoodStudios 9 днів тому

      ahhh... grout is what that thing between the tiles is called. I wondered if you were talking about the "glue" I used beneath. Yeah, your'e right. Epoxy grout is the gold star of tiling grout.

      Ahh... hvis du bygger den som min kan du kjøre den opp i over 100 som en venn av meg gjorde en gang. Vi holder den rundt komfortable 80grader normalt. Når man først har fått fyr på den øker tempen rundt 10grader med en middels kubbe. Det kan være at badstuene du har vært i ikke har en riktig dimensjonert ovn for badstua. Ovnen er en harvia pro 20 laget for 8-20m3 og min ligger rundt 16.

    I am getting ready to build my first wood shed. I got thousands of pallets and was trying to think how I could protect the wood. A wood shed will let me process the pallet wood and protect them until I need them. I was wanting to build a sauna, but watching the video I realized I need a wood shed first. I also really appreciated the idea to use the large window, because I have a large double pane window about the same size as you used. I will probably use a metal door because I have one out of a school. I will just have to keep it painted and dry out the sauna when done enjoying it. Thanks for the video.

    • @MartinWoodStudios
      @MartinWoodStudios Місяць тому

      metal door is not recommended. It will get very warm. Also a sauna should not have painted surfaces on the inside because the heat will make the chemicals in the paint to release and it might bring unwanted odours as well. I would rather use the metal door in the shed (even though I would not use a metal door to begin with). Remember to check your pallets carefully to see if they are chemically treated or HT Heat Treated. Don't use the chemical pallets. Best of luck!

    Hey, builders. What about simply glass in sauna?? Not suppose to be a specific glass?

    • @MartinWoodStudios
      @MartinWoodStudios Місяць тому

      I'm not to sure. Dependent on the temperature I believe a double glass will be less prone to cracking because the layers will make the glass heat slower (there is a lot more glass + layers so outside glass will cool inside). But if the weather is not too cold I guess a single glass might work... and there is also a question of how big the glass is - but I don't really know these answers.

    Again, great video. I am finishing my project now, and I had to go for plactic vapour barrier. But around the chimney I need something else. I am thinking I could use aluminium tape to stop any leaks of humidity. Where did you buy your tape? Do you remember the brand? Is it holding up that close to the chimney? Have you experienced any challenges with your build after starting using it? Thanks again!

    • @MartinWoodStudios
      @MartinWoodStudios Місяць тому

      saunapro.no was where I got the tape. I found out the plates I used in my flooring only takes 75celsius before the material will "melt"... but it has not melted. Otherwise I will upgrade my bench material to some nicer leafy tree sort when I feel for it. No challenges so far except for holding back the hordes of friends wanting to do the sauna :)

    I just had a coopers hawk take down a roof rat today in my teeny little backyard ❤ I wank to make a home or perch for them. But I mainly want the barn owl because these rats are mostly active at night and they are the best. I raised three enough to get them back up with their parents and flying, I love them around.
