Nice! i remember this climb, back when I lived in MD. I climbed mostly at Seneca Rocks, but went few times to Gunks. This route was great... technically not very difficult, but indeed quite exposed. Climbing out of the ledge on to the overhang required certain commitment. But then again, I wasn't very good climber - I think the hardest I ever did trad leading was 5.8
@@mishamikhail109 so true!
Hi ! Great video ! Just curious : how exactly did you film this ? What gear did you use ? Cheers from South France !
Thank you! Top Secret for now. ;)
@silasrossi are you using some kind of body mount for the insta360? I've been trying to put the camera in my backpack and it's okay, but this angle is amazing! And it's so smooth how you move it back and forth
Thanks! I work hard, often climbing differently than I normally would, in an effort to keep the camera steady. Mount setup is still a trade secret for now. lol
Always loved that climb.
Sure beats pulling plastic.
nice call letting Black play out
I was looking for the hanging belay, but you did it as a single pitch. Looked great.
JSnare is super intriguing! I've never heard of it thank you for pointing it out!
works great! I also like the newer Petzl v thread tool. It's got a built in knife and screw plunger.
Thanks for your video brings back. Some memories. Will be there in the mid 90s. All the holes are so positive fun climbing spot.
Nice - so glad it brought back memories of being here!
nice route
so good
Great route. Didn't know you could link all the pitches.
though this was with a 60m, just FYI. :)
Is there a description of your camera setup?
top secret so far.... :)
When it gets declassified please let us know. 😁
@@eric76645 😉🤣
What if you whip? Does the camera setup survive the fall?
hahahaha - I hope we never have to find out!
I remember doing this one and fighting a TON of rope drag at the top! Such an amazing climb. Thanks for posting!
It has that potential, for sure! Thanks for watching. :)
Impressive Linking all three pitches and the music was killer Slinging the tree, never thought of that but cool. Did rope drag concerns affect how many pieces u placed or would u place the same amounts of pro if pitches were not all Linked?
Linking in one pitch is a bit of a party trick and requires excellent rope drag management. The two best ways to reduce rope drag are place less gear and sling things long! I may not place more gear if breaking things up as they normally are but I know the route very well and it's well below my limit. Hope that helps. :)
@@silasrossiLooks like U go up a ladder 🪜 smooth and steady. Nice explanation, we are expanding our kit and this told me why having a longer sling might be great to have.
So enjoyable. Such a cruiser.
such a good route
Wasn’t sure what was going to happen while Another one bites the dust was playing LOL
hahahaha
Can you do a video about how you set up your harness and why?
secret for now. lol
We talk about this inside the Ascend membership! Come check it out
Awesome!
You should do the dangler!
good idea!
Loving the videos! What camera and setup do you use for the over the shoulder POV?
Insta360 X2....the rest is top secret. lol
BITD I watched Wolfgang Gulich onsight “The Throne” next door with only 3 pieces of gear! We finished doing Bonnie’s that day with the Knockout Drops ceiling variant after his inspiration!
Damn - that’s insane! And super inspiring. :)
Great video, Silas.
thank you! good to see you out the other day. :)
I appreciate the Green Day!
yeah, buddy!
Epic route! Great to see such calm and smooth climbing … almost makes me think I’d be brave enough to lead it 😬
Same, lol. Baby steps, need to on-site more 7s first
Thanks! Keep me posted. :)
@@utubesuxb4lls keep me posted as well!

Beautiful!!! And so glad we got 2 back to back. Thank you for giving us this brilliance to fill the days between climbing trips.
So glad you’re enjoying them!
🎉 woot! Keep em coming silas! Your camera angle is so good, I love watching you climb and learning from your movements! As Doug robinson once said in his movie Moving over stone. Imaging is an important part of learning and watching movement helps climbers learn to move over stone. I can't thank you enough for your videos. "Without rock, we'd all be surfers" 😊
So glad you’re enjoying the vids! Lots more coming soon. And I totally agree on the movement modeling - hard to substitute for it. FWIW, I do climb differently with the camera in an effort to get a steady and consistent angle. Without the camera I’m much more dynamic with more side-to-side twisting and changing which way I’m facing. Anyway thanks and keep crushing!
Top taste and choice in music... 90's all over again!!

woot feels like christmas morning! thanks for all the uploads!! these are the best videos on the platform!
So glad you like them! 🙏
Hold on, the second and third placements were way too quick, did you have those pre-planned and racked?
You don't think I can think that quickly on my feet (arms!)? ;) I knew the second piece was a .3 so had a draw on the cam already. And the third piece was a fixed nut...that's no longer there. :)
Nicely done. You made it look easier than it is. ;)
It's a good one!
That was pretty cool!
Thanks - glad you enjoyed it!
looks so beautiful!!! Nice running into you today by the way -Max
Really great to meet you Max! And nice work on Suppers Ready!
@@silasrossi ah shucks thank you. Only a pinkpoint but one day i'll go for it... 🤮 looking forward to more vids from ya! Not _too_ much twisting and turning on suppers... 😉

What is going on at 5:50? Someone left a wire in there?
yes - a stuck tricam! I was trying to fish it out and clip it.
I've only been climbing regularly indoors for a year, I want to start climbing outdoors so I've been consuming as much knowledge from experts/books/videos to atleast have somewhat of a base to work from. Thanks for the great info!
Please consider the Ascend membership - it might be just what you're looking for.

Nice shirt Silas!!! Just got the same color but in a tank top. Thanks for you contributions to the gunks apps!
I love my quad in the gunks. Edit, I carry two for multi pitch with two bolt anchors.
@@utubesuxb4lls nice! Solid shirt choice ;) and so glad you like the quad - it's so good!
Super solid conversation!
Thanks - glad you liked it!
Oh my goodness. I did CCK last week and wish I had this soundtrack playing in my head. I didn’t link the 2&3 pitches so the traverse right was more significant looking in the moment and boy it felt thin. I did not make it look that smooth! I did pitch 1 of MF right afterward and felt super buttery on it, so redeemed haha!
Assuming you use an insta360, how do you control the invisible selfie stick's position? I have only been using mine vertically or at a slight angle over my shoulder, but I see in your videos it is way behind you, but still stable and steady. How do you rig that?
Amazing video! Thank you! This does bring up a consistent question I have. Why are superstitions people so interested in putting their iconography just everywhere? So strange. . .
The route he climbed is not High Exposure
Nice variation though
Lol - what the heck are you talking about?!
Took a 25 foot whipper 2 moves after the crux last weekend because I was not prepared. This will definitely help me for the next time I lead this, and hopefully send.
I saw a guy climbing this and was like that looks like horseman then saw how hard it looked and was like naw horseman is 5.5, then later found out it was. Hardest 5.5 I’ve ever saw 😂
Wow!! Nice video!! Enjoyed watching!! I done few Treks but nothing to compare with this...if you want to have a look...thanks!! Well done 👏 you got a subscriber!!
Go Dad! Go Silas!
He rocked it!
Kudos on leading that in a very "Old School" style, and not simply lacing it up with a trail of cams and nuts! This is the style that I learned in Boulder Canyon and Eldorado Canyon back in the late 1950's and early 60's. "When in doubt--run it out!"
