I hear you about the "average person not fighting for slavery thing" and although a lot of primary source evidence tells you that isn't true even putting that aside and assuming you are right about that. It's very clear that, at minimum, the confederate government succeeded over Slavery. And according to your theory, then propagandized the population into fighting for their objectives. Would that situation not be an abhorent one? Why would we wave a flag celebrating such a government hundreds of years later?

@@de0509 Abe Lincoln was the head of the newly formed Republican Party for a presidential candidacy. His promise was to abolish slavery. the south who used their rich soil to farm crops such as cotton used African slave labor to farm the crops and send them to the newly industrialized north who would make textiles for Europe. How the United States government works is that our government is split into three branches, the legislative branch Wich makes our laws. The executive branch, Wich is our president, military leader and international diplomat who has a final say in Wich laws are passed. The judicial branch Wich houses the highest court system of our government made up of judges directly appointed by the president with certain conditions from the legislative branch. The main thing you need to know is that the legislative branch is split between a House of Representatives Wich today has 435 members Wich each are appointed to represent state counties or equal balances in population across a state, and the senate Wich has one hundred members with two representing each state. This led to a race between the north and the south during manifest destiny to acquire more states for political control creating a line of southern slave states and northern free states. The south had power in the senate but their population was lower because farmers don’t urbanize. To solve the house of representatives problem, they labeled African slaves as 3/5 human. With the acknowledgment that slaves were human, Abraham Lincoln pledged to end slavery and won the election, causing the south to secede forming the confederacy. From there everyone went to war to fight against each other with the end result being the northern states, due to advanced technology such as railways for train transportation, and instant communication through power lines. There’s more to it but that’s pretty much it.

It has always been a problem for the world, however we America was crucial in convincing Europe African Americans deserved the same rights as Europeans and it is still our responsibility to end full and total racism. @@Cptcharlie slavery was never initially based on race. It’s only the colonisation of the Americas an the fact that Africans were selling their brethren for very cheap at the time. The word slave actually comes from the Slavic people who are predominately white. A lot of American racism came from the elite trying to dehumanise the slaves to keep a vital part of the economy at the time and justify treating a group of people so horribly. Any person with a brain knows racism doesn’t make any sense

The UK was the first country to make it illegal when the United States was barely even a thing. Well do you know what the flag means? If you saw someone flying a swastika flag on their truck, and they say it’s because of their German heritage, wouldn’t you be confused why they aren’t flying the modern German flag? What sort of connotations could the flag hold that the modern one doesn’t? Maybe there’s something else, something specific, that the flag represents, and that’s what’s being communicated through its use.

@@martinvannostrand8488 it's a funny smart ass comment. Obviously I understand the implications but my point is that's still a low bar to satisfy the definition of racism. About the civil war, wasn't as simple to just boil it down to "racist dudes vs not racist dudes" . It's like any war, young poor men dying for a cause that they had no part of. It wasn't the plantation owners fighting. And more importantly the war was fought not exclusively about slavery, but also how much power the federal government should have over the States. There was two things going on, this is common knowledge, and still debatable which conflict was the bigger factor. Also bad comparison with Nazis. Slavery is evil. But slaving for manual labor just is not comparable to an industrialized ethic genocide. Very different. Also the first slave owner in America was black. His names Anthony Johnson, look it up. He even sued the state to be able to have slaves. So do you know what the flag means?

@@martinvannostrand8488 confed flag represents southern heritage whereas the 1940’s german one represents a political heritage. The difference is pretty obvious, the south claimed independence from the union whereas germany simply changed regimes. The south has always had a unique cultural identity whereas the german political movement detatched itself from the culture of its origin point (bavaria)
