    It’s highly recommended to back those SS cap screws out halfway, apply 3M-5200 marine adhesive to the exposed screw thread then run them in until the screw head shoulders up. Then apply another 1/4 to 1/2 turn… check them next year and I guarantee they won’t be loose!!!

      You can just disconnect the shock from the lid and it will lay flat for complete access. I personally like the lid opening this way. When you turn on battery power it’s always done while standing outside the boat next to the motor. Hard to do if the lid opens the other way.

    • @dwighthaberly1199
      @dwighthaberly1199 5 місяців тому

      When you remove the shocks the door will NOT lay down completely do to the hinges they use. You only gain maybe 2" of travel removing the shocks. Found that out having to fix a leaking livewell fitting. You could always take all of the screws out and the shocks to remove the door but, I thought that would be more work then what you would gain since the door opens past hinges.

    • @GregFisherAngling
      @GregFisherAngling Рік тому

      Hello and thanks for watching. I will try to explain the best I can. The snorkling that I've experienced on this excursion was actually along the coast of Cozumel and I dont really remember a large coral reef. I have a thin beard and alway struggle with water in my mask so I never really get the greatest views therefore love my gopro. We never really strayed far from the coast. My understanding and experience is the coast and beaches have alot of rock along the coast. I would not be surprised if you could find a place somewhere to "self snorkle". To me this was fun as I am not highly experienced in snorkling plus this also includes time at a private beach with water toys and plenty of chairs to relax. Since this excursion I have been to a place called Paradise Beach club which was a great little get away with a pool and beach access. Aside from the boat ride I really enjoy relaxing at the beach club and have seen several people there with their own snorkle gear swiming in the area. Hope this helps.

    • @GregFisherAngling
      @GregFisherAngling Рік тому

      Depending on the units I'm not sure you can set up a single unit to use different transducers on different viewing pages. Going into the humminbird network and setup pages I believe you can only pick one source as in one source for 2D, one for DI etc. If you are running dual units at the dash like ii was you can separate. I used one unit for 2D and mapping using the inhull ducer and the other unit was a Mega+ which I used the mega ducer for all 2d/di/msi.

      @@adriandavidpayne Hopefully I am understanding what you are wanting to do. I am not a Humminbird guru lol With one unit on the dash you can set it up to use the in hull transducer to read all the 2d whether on the maps or any 2d page and the outer MSI transducer to read DI/MSI. All 2d reading regardless of the view will come from the inner transducer without manually changing settings. This is how I set things up with one unit on the console in the past.

    • @GregFisherAngling
      @GregFisherAngling Рік тому

      @@adriandavidpayne yes it makes sense. And I guess first of all it would depend on the mounting of the mega ducer. Assuming you are running a bass boat 99% of them are mounted where they are actually out of the water when running on plane. Therefore unable to pick up anything and is the reason for the inhull transducer. If you set up to use the inhull transducer for 2d you will pick up on plane and idle and the Meg will handle the rest when scanning at slow speeds. You will still be able to get good 2d sonar using the inhull ducer at all times for 2d.

      Sometimes you dont have to aggrevate them, but I do return them to the bed if that helps.

      @@GregFisherAngling Thank you very much for doing that; YES, that helps greatly. I grew up fishing with my father since a very early age and have fished THOUSANDS of hours "lazy" fishing (bluegill, crappie, bluecats) and MANY MANY Bass tournaments with him. He would explain to me about the spawning habits and show me what/where and times to look out for them and that I should avoid if at all possible to preserve the future; both ours and theirs.. I do respect you for turning them loose (where caught) and fully understand the feeling of a NICE bass like that one tugging on the line. I honestly didn't mean to come across as a jerk, I just got uptight really quick with my thoughts on this. I've NEVER competed in a tournament during spring time simply because of the sheer amount of large females being drug from their spawning grounds by dozens, or even hundreds of anglers bringing them back for "weighed in" just to watch them die later when released for a few more points on the leader boards or for some prize money.. it's really heartbreaking to see. Thank you.

    Just ordered my 100 hour service kit from PartsVu . Did you have to replace the o ring on the internal fuel filter housing? Or only replace if broken?

      Honestly I don’t remember but I would guess to say yes I did. I’m usually pretty good at changing O- rings if they come with the kits

      @@GregFisherAngling Greg how is your generator with your onboard charger. I have a Skeeter 22i with a min kota 4bank. I bought a Honda eu2000i generator. Haven’t tried it yet just bought the generator. I think after reading everything on the internet I’m more confused than ever about compatibility. How does it work for you and how long does it take you to charge? Thanks in advance

      @@doycesmith3627 I also have the Min Kota 4 X 15 and it works great. My generator runs for between seven and eight hours on a tank of fuel (1gal) and has yet to not fully charge before the tank is empty

    I am surprised a boat as expensive as Skeeter does not use a thread locker on the cap/hull screws. I had to do that on a couple of my old center consoles I ran offshore. They would get so loose they would start pushing out the rub rail tube. When I replaced them I added some 5200 on the threads and never had another issue.

      I've never owned another brand of boat so I cannot say about any others. I would think if there were something better it would be done. Just something I have added to my winter checklist. Although I know with the design of a bass boat and taking a beating at times running big waters it doesn't surprise me things come loose.
