Move Heavy Rocks with Ease - Kubota LX2610 in Action
You should not start the generator under load. Don't turn the breaker connected to the generator until the generator is started and up to speed.
Have you had any issues with electronics and the quality of the power? Any messed up electronics or motherboards on washers, dryers, televisions?
I have the 7000 continuous watt predator generator. I have run the tv and desktop computer along with everything else in the house with no problems with the electronics. The electronics are always connected to a surge protector because even power company power can have a surge that damage electronic circuits.
Also, whose got the best, most reliable, and proven CO detector that you'd recommend. Thank you once again. Robert
If you want reliable and proven always stick with the name brands like Kidde. I couldn’t find a WiFi battery only version though and really wanted it to alert me when I’m not around. I went with this one by X-Sense which has pretty good reviews. It does work as I’ve had a car idling in the garage and it went off after a few minutes. a.co/d/cljKWln I do wish the Google Nest protect detector had been updated. They still sell them but they are old stock it seems and have a good amount of failure rate now. Someone needs to come out with a comparable product as it had a lot of good intentions.
Great video. It is very thorough, well organized and easy to understand. My question is, what caused you to decide to go with the "T" configuration? Why not just install the louvered cap directly onto the furnace flue gas discharge? Robert Thank you.
I appreciate your compliments on the video! Originally I went with a T because it was the cheaper option. Saf-T vent makes a cat III rain cap with louvers or slots but in my research it has the same issue with wind so I just never tried it. Home Depot has a whole kit that has a backflow preventer in one of the short pieces that comes with it. I assume it’s some sort of flap that closes but my fear with any of those types was if that flap gets stuck for any reason you’ll have exhaust in your garage or it will just do the same thing and keep triggering the sensor on the furnace.
wifi ia a short term longer teem is to install fiber optics
For some that live out in country fiber is not an option for internet so it would be overkill for a garage. This solution does ever need it to do and is cheap to replace if I need to later. Thanks for checking out the video!
I would try using powerline ethernet adapters before doing this as a much simpler means to solve this issue. You plug in a tranciever inside your house and one in the garage and they can cost under $50 for both.
I have researched them but reviews are very mixed how well they work. My electrical service is a bit further around 275’ to the garage which would likely be a bigger issue for these devices as well. The WiFi bridge was an easy install with great results. Appreciate the comment and thanks for checking out the video!
@@journeys-with-joe Ya, your barn didn't look that far and if you mentioned the distance, I missed it. I was surprised how inexpensive the wireless unit you installed was, but the installation could be quite a hassle for most. I'm personally using the powerline method for my detached garage and it's been working well, but it's a lot closer.
Awesome video. It seems easy to install.😃
Glad you found it helpful and appreciate you watching!
Really like you rolling attachment pallet. Have you considered putting the forms inside the pallet and leaving the top for other attachments? It may work if it's not too heavy in the back.
Great idea for sure! would be very nice not having to move both attachments every time. I’m definitely putting that on my to do list. Thanks!
Nice!
Appreciate you checking out the video!
Same generator I've been thinking about getting. Wonder if they have a remote start option, or they should, it would be convenient. Yep they are loud, but more importantly they get the job done. I'd run mine on propane, I'd have to figure out how to hook it up to my 325 gallon propane tank, I'd probably have to ask the propane company and have them add the connection most likely.
I didn’t mention it in the video but yes it has a remote fob as well. Only issue I’ve read is the receiver for the remote shuts down after 12 hrs of non use to save the battery. Then you have to use the push button on the generator again to start it. I’m sure if your propane company doesn’t have a solution a local plumber could help you out. Would be nice to have such a large tank already available that’s for sure.
@@journeys-with-joe That auto shut of wouldn't necessarily be an issue really at least not at first...not much to just go outside and hit the button, but it would be nice if a person were using it with an RV maybe if they didn't wanna walk outside and hit the start/stop button LOL. My propane tank is a rental unit, so anything put on it would have to be authorized and done by the propane company I believe, I'd have to double check with them or see what they would recommend, or even a 2nd tank dedicated to the generator as a worse case scenario...or just a larger tank and have a T installed by the propane company....they seem very helpful with stuff so I doubt it'll be an issue when I do get a generator.
New subscriber! great presentation, where did you order the liners from? I had these installed on yesterday stainless steel & bamboo worktops. Thank you, Joe!☺
Thanks for the sub! Ordered from Amazon 18” x 24” and needed two rolls. a.co/d/grQW892 You’ll find they are decent cabinets for the price.
Get a 100lb tank of you plan on using it for any amount of time as those little 20lb tanks will freeze up pretty quick. Unless you have a 250+ gallon tank outside. That's a loud ol' beast. Also, if you have a power inlet, etc, you need to make the generator floating neutral as it only needs one point which is your house. Bonded neutral is used if you're using it "free standing" for tools, etc.
I definitely need to look into a larger tank. I ran it a few hours and didn’t have any issues this time but want a larger capacity anyways for emergencies. Would love to have a large quiet inverter generator but for my limited use the cost doesn’t justify it. Awesome tip for the floating neutral! I’m going to pull the cover off and make that change since this will be used only for my house backup.
@@journeys-with-joe It is SUPER easy on those and many others like it. Pull the back cover off on the end OPPOSITE of the pull start (where the stator is). Remove the cover and behind there you will see a short yellow wire with a green stripe that connects from one post to another. You can remove it entirely OR you can just undo the side where it's connected to the two white wires then (so only the two white remain) and just screw both ends down where the other side is as it's ground anyway. That way you always know where the wire is. Then you are set and only have one point of neutral bonding at your house.
@@avguytx4361thanks for the detailed info on this! Sounds like it will be quick and easy. Might even make a video when I do it.
@@journeys-with-joe Super simple for sure. And video it while you're at it!
How are you addressing the neutral ground bond in your generator? Your house is neutral ground bonded already.
I might have missed it but did the $83k include insulation? Also did you insulate walls and roof? Thanks
The cost does not include insulation. It was an additional $6k to insulate. Take a look at my cost breakdown down of finishing the interior to get a better idea on everything that went into that. ua-cam.com/video/2oS8DWnJcRk/v-deo.htmlsi=sBkNsJEZZwCWrlmF
Looks great, is there a backup of the battery is dead on the generator? That’s my only concern with the electric starts.
Good catch! Yes I should have mentioned it but it does have a pull start. I do need to test that since it has an automatic as well as manual choke. They really put alot of features on this generator and I’m thinking about just doing a video on all of them.
@@journeys-with-joe Pull starting can be a challenge with those bigger engines. I had a Honda EU6500 and pulling the rope would just drag the generator sideways. Your best defense against a dead battery is to keep a boost box on hand - like you would use to start a car. Works wonders! Be sure to get one hat can output power even if no battery is connected. I have a JNC660 which is basically just a battery in a box. I once had my generator battery die when it was 0F and we had a power failure. I clamped on my boost box and it fired right up.
@@eosjoe565great tip on the jump box. I do need to get one of those. I haven’t tried the pull start yet but have had larger ATV’s and as long as the compression release was working you’d be ok but about break your hand if not.
I’m having the exact same issue with a 50,000 btu big max heater I’ve tried numerous different end caps even tried a high wind style cap still flame goes out and restarts on windy days. It must be a heater issue as other people have same terminations and no issues I have not tried what you did here, I feel the wind would still funnel into heater though
I think in general this brand has a sensitive pressure switch. I’m very out in the open here so we get wind all the time where others may not. So far this winter since adding the caps it has made a major improvement. I can’t say it eliminates the issue 100% but I’m very satisfied at this point with how the furnace operates on windy days. Hopefully you can get yours figured out as they are a decent heater for the cost.
Just wrapped up a 66x48 16’ walls in Oregon. Stick frame, wood siding, 2 12x14 roll ups, 3 man doors, 8 custom windows, 6” mono slab, 200amp service, plumbing, electrical and permits was $160k. I did everything except concrete ($36k) and electrical ($12k).
That’s a large shop and I appreciate you sharing! A lot of work too and I can’t imagine what it would have cost if you had hired it out. Now you get to enjoy it! Thanks for checking out my video!
Beautiful shop, is that metal roofing used for the walls and ceiling?
Thank you! The metal supplier calls it metal liner panel. Based on what I’ve read it’s the same as exterior metal but the paint is not UV resistant so it should only be used indoors. It’s a little cheaper in cost vs the exterior as well. Bottom half of the walls are 5/8” LP Smartside panels.
For some reason my pinned comment didn't stay so I'll post it again. Some folks noticed my sediment trap by the furnace wasn't correct. That is definitely true in the video. I corrected it shortly after and posted some correct pictures of how it should be plumbed. Thanks everyone for pointing this out! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxptmf1AqCBHH19sWBYgpat5eDefjyDu0B?si=0tFZ-cX5Obtyl1Av
Nice update on pinned post sharing the correction of sediment trap orientation💪
Could be wrong on this, but your sediment trap needs changed up. The supply gas needs to enter vertically from above with the trap leg vertically below that. The feed to the furnace would then come horizontally out the side of that T fitting.
You are absolutely correct I didn't have it correct when I recorded the video but corrected it shortly after. I pinned my comment on this again so I always appreciate the reminder! Thanks for checking out the video!! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxptmf1AqCBHH19sWBYgpat5eDefjyDu0B?si=0tFZ-cX5Obtyl1Av
@@journeys-with-joenice. The photos showing correction a a great update. Good job!
Hey Joe, looking really nice bud. I have 3 of those large fans and I keep them on the first level and they really move the air around! You're also going to love your new 2 post lift, just be carefull not to hit the rebar when drilling your mounting bolts. I'm lucky to have a couple 4 post and a couple 2 post lifts from Advantage and love them all. Check out Omni Wall for the back of your work station area, there are numerous different options to choose from, you won't be disappointed with them!
I appreciate the comment! I’m definitely a little hesitant to drill holes in my concrete but had to for my loft posts and they turned out ok. I figure if I hit rebar I’ll have to get a bit to chew through it. I have a decent idea where it runs so I’m going to do my best to avoid it. I’ll have to check out the Omni wall I’ve not heard of it but do need a better solution back there. Thanks again for all the tips!
😮😮😮
Yeah I know! Thanks for checking out my video.
This would probably be about 150% the cost here in western WI. Nice shop.
Crazy how much prices vary! Thanks for the compliment and checking out the video.
That's great! When I first started watching, I would have guessed around $100K - $115K. Nice work!!!
Appreciate the comment! I only wish I could have built it years ago when everything was a bit cheaper.
@@journeys-with-joe I hear ya! I built a 34 x 26 stick building with an 11' tall garage door back in Spring of 2020. Nobody knew if the world was going to end back then so we kept it "small". Wish we would have gone bigger now that prices have soared! Can only make the best decision with the information you have at the time. cheers mate!
Wow! I just had mine built in MI. 30x40x14 no lean too. Two 12' doors on the end. Concrete plus a 30x22 concrete apron and wiring. I am all in at $42500.00
Awesome…thanks for sharing! Enjoy your garage. I know now how fortunate I am to have one.
So far so good. We’ve had a few very windy days since making this video and no short cycling or shutdowns!
OMG you got raped
Awesome job
Thank you!!
Let's see it in action
I need to make a better video using it but I did use it some in this one ua-cam.com/video/iIbetUO8YO8/v-deo.htmlsi=PRKhoFU5LUYGVZGR
Did you consider insulating under the concrete floor? I know it adds thousands, but wondering if it is worth it. Sound like your concrete isn't the biggest loss of heat. I'm planning my build now and wondering if I should add this? I'm in SE Michigan.
Insulating the slab is not cheap as you said. Since I don’t have in floor heat I didn’t think it was worth it for me and haven’t regretted not insulating the floor. The slab seems to hold enough heat for me without insulation. As long as I keep the furnace set in the 40’s it hasn’t taken long to get the entire temp up when I’m out working in it. Since my gas usage was so low last year I may try to keep it at 50 when not in it this winter.
I wonder if that short pin was to connect only through the down rod to a second (optional?) down rod and not through the motor unit?
Not sure but the new replacement fan didn’t have the shorter pin. I’m thinking since it was an open box someone threw the wrong hardware in the box. I bet though as you said the pin could have been used to extend or add a rod.
heres a handy tip to save you some time. since you have poppet connectors you can just push the male connector down on the frame of the tractor or the grapple and it will bleed off the extra pressure. some people put a rag over it to catch the hydraulic fluid and just push it down against something hard.
Great tip for sure! I didn’t show it in the video but is something I tried but for me it didn’t work unfortunately and couldn’t get them to release the pressure. I really appreciate the comment!
Nice shop, the siding/tin transition turned out really nice.
Appreciate it! I’m really happy with how it turned out. Added benefit is the smartsiding really takes a good hit to knock any paint off vs the tin you barely touch it and it scratches. I also think the siding helps with sound too it seems to not reflect it nearly as much as the tin.
@@journeys-with-joeAll good reasons to do the siding over metal, it would also make it easier to hand items off the wall in the future too.
Is one fan enough for that big garage?
@@shivamgandhi5779 I do plan to install another smaller fan which I already have wires ran and box installed towards front of garage. I do get air movement through out the entire garage with just this one but yes another fan will definitely help in the winter to push the heat down.
@@journeys-with-joe why not install the same fan?
not quite enough space due to my garage tracks towards the front. I also had to deal with my ceiling light placement that runs down the middle. Probably end up with a 6’ fan just haven’t found the right one yet.
Crazy to think a 40x60 pole barn was only 11k and concrete was additional 4500 just 10 years ago where I’m at. Now it’s over 35k
Crazy times we live in for sure. If we only knew then we would all have built garages and save tons of $$. Unfortunately we’ll not see those type of costs again. Glad you were able to build when you did! Thanks for checking out the video!
This guy wasted a half hour to make a two second point. Wonder how many hours it takes him to drive one nail?

Oh look, now the girl is being exploited by her whole family. Pathetic. No self respect.
They are a incredible door
Thank you!
Do you move this thing around or is it stationary? I work with a buch of techs nd probably 20 of them have problems with the box cracking at the corners, and the rails bearings failing they move them daily though and probably are not very gentle with them
I’ve only moved it a few times. I definitely don’t have it loaded heavy like others I’m sure. Since I don’t use it everyday I hope it will last me a decent while and if anything breaks I’ll give an update.
I like your socket drawer. I''ve been debating what organizers I want and I may go with those Ernst.
Thanks! It took awhile to label but they come with lots of them when you buy them. I was only hesitant because they are plastic but I can pick up the whole rail of deep impact sockets and still feel sturdy. It does flex a little but definitely doesn’t feel like it will break.
I hope you're living in that expensive place. Wow
Yeah really…tried to but my wife won’t let me!
What's a permit?😂
The hoops we have to jump through to have something on our own property…crazy!
If you lower the tail wheel a notch or 2 and get it riding on the ground while setting the height with the front it will help. Your front should be about 1" lower than the rear. It will cut and discharge easier and not load up near as much.
I appreciate the tips! I’ll have to look at this when I brush hog this fall. Thanks for checking out the video.
Was there a follow up video to how it worked out?
I have this video where I cleared out some brush and small stumps. I need to use it more though as it really is a great attachment. ua-cam.com/video/iIbetUO8YO8/v-deo.htmlsi=6XB5vP5pI9I2lam0
Nice garage. Where are you located. You're costs are lower than my area upstate NY (South of Albany)
Appreciate the compliment. I’m in NE Ohio. We do have a lot of Amish builders here which can be a little cheaper but still have to watch as not all are quality builders.
@@journeys-with-joe Pioneer Pole Barn is out of Pa and uses Amish builders. My quote for a 30X40 with garage doors, with a 12'X40 lean-to, no concrete, no insulation, no site prep, $58K
@@remital6834 yeah that does seem a good bit high. Definitely get multiple quotes but could just be the labor cost is higher in your area.
Cool video. Congratulations on your awesome garage.
You've had the fan up for a bit now, what do you think?
Still working great! It ran everyday this past winter and made a huge difference in moving the heat. Right now I only turn it on when needed but works every time and really makes it comfortable when it’s hot out and I’m in the garage working. No regrets on the purchase or cost. Appreciate you asking and thanks for checking out the video!
What size is your building? Wondering if I need 2 of them for a 48 x 60 x 16h polebarn?
