Tripod Repair
My tripod that I got for free has never been able to hold a camera. The screw on the pan handle was stripped causing the camera to always move around. Thanks for watching!

Every year the popular woodworking channel Steve Ramsey joins a fundraiser for what is called "Makers Care". For every project that is photographed or videoed and sent to the website, he, will donate $5 to the Make a Wish Foundation. This year the theme is animals. I decided to make a dog pencil holder. Check out: www.makerscare.org and Steve's Video: ua-cam.com/video/LRTNM0G8UY0/v-deo.html

3 cheese boards. 2 walnut with maple stripes and 1 maple with a walnut stripe. Not sure what happened to the last photos, sorry for that terrible quality.

I had found a bunch of very weathered pine 1x6. Used it to make a couple of birdhouses. Don't worry, I pounded all the nails in and took out the ones that pierced through the sides.

Here I make a simple crib board. I used 3/4" stock maple and scrap hardwood (I think some kind of mahogany). I found a hole template online, adjusted the template and then used that to drill the holes. Check out my website! www.sites.google.com/site/colbyswoodworking/

my one has a slightly different issue. it is the swivel part, i.e the one that is connected on the center tube that is used to pan. it falls of sometimes and not so safe. any fixes to this?

Great job on this video! I really enjoyed watching you create this beautiful 2x4 tray from scratch. Your attention to detail and craftsmanship are truly impressive. I especially love how you were able to repurpose such an everyday material into something so functional and visually stunning. Thanks for sharing your process with us - I'm definitely feeling inspired to try my hand at woodworking now!

question: i had modified teh top of the free tripod that my dad originally had for a camcorder to jankily fit a stopmotion studio cheap phone mount. i had removed the spring and the clip that held the universal mount in place. i'm trying to repiar this part now and have no idea where i had put the mini spring. would it be best for me to just buy a new tripod or find the model head of the tripod and replace it with that? The tripod overall is still sturdy and works well, the only issue is the release that no longer is on the tripod and now that i think of it, i have no idea where i put the universal mount 🤦‍♂

Mine got broken the other day. One of those telescopic fasteners lever broke while folding it back to store. I guess the plastics get dry and I don't seem to find replacements. I have thought maybe molding a lever with epoxic resin might do the job. Any ideas will be most welcome and appreciated. Thanks.

I just search crib board template, then copied a picture off Google images and pasted that on a word document or something like that. Then I would print and adjust it until it was the size I liked.

Beautiful work! A bit of advice. I would advise against using sunflower oil. Like other natural oils, they can go rancid and smell/taste bad. While there are many ways to finish a board, usually the most successful is a food safe oil such as butcher block oil or mineral oil. You get the same beautiful results will little to no risk of it going rancid. I have made boards with just mineral oil and over a year of use with no negative effects. One of the best parts is mineral oil is dirt cheap and you can get large containers of it at stores like CVS or Walgreen's. Just wanted to provide some insight and like I said, Beautiful work!
