My Faux Fireplace VICTORIAN Upgrade - Quick and Easy
Переглядів 25114 днів тому
_Another last minute, frantic, not-only-holiday decor project. I decided to update my faux fireplace just 10 days before Christmas. I love vintage, I love Victorian and I'm slowly inching my decor and style that way. And I got really inspired by the old Victorian black iron fireplaces. I would so love one like that! But because there is not much chance of me having a real Victorian fireplace, I...

It was my last-year project, but before I got to edit the video, it was the end of the year. So, I decided to leave it for this year, and actually...

Hello, just got the notification for your reply to my question (below previous video regarding the topic). Thank you so much for your super kindness to even make a video about the question! Super useful and I am grateful! :)) Looks like the hole size is 7mm - which is actually the distance between my two rings. So I believe I would either need the pattern you showed in teh video (closest possible) or another punch tool which can do smaller holes or rectngles (like wire binding machines can do). Wish it would be easier, but you did help a lot, many-many thanks!!! :)
You are welcome.😘 I'm happy it was helpful. Thank you for watching!
@@craftyhanded Absolutely, you are very kind! Thanks for all your help!! :)
In 2024 I decided to do a Victorian UPGRADE on my Faux Fireplace ua-cam.com/video/QUdWD-DHWhM/v-deo.html
The additional question "Smallest hole distance" answered and explained in a new short video ua-cam.com/video/MY6DETyq8ss/v-deo.html
Hello, super video, thank you! Just thinking about purchasing one. What is the smallest hole distance you can achieve? I can't find a good manual hole puncher for my clickbind spirals - 8.5mm seemed too much. Can you put two holes closer with this machine? (Measured from the middle of one hole to the enxt middle of the hole.) Thanks or your help in advance! :)
Hello and Thank you! I am so glad you like it ❤! I am very pleased with the versatility of this punch board. If you want to punch the holes at once, the closest hole distance (from center to center of the hole) is 5/8" (16mm) because it is not possible to fit the two punches next to each other any closer. But if you are willing to punch the holes in 2 steps, you can punch the first hole or set of holes and then move your punch(es) in a punch board and punch the second hole(s) as close as 1/16" (2mm) from the first hole(s). In this case the minimum distance from center to the center of the hole is 3/8" (1cm). OK, theoretically you could go one slot closer to 5/16" (8mm), but the spaces between the holes would be quite fragile, so then it depends on the weight of your paper. The punch board has approximately 1/16" (2mm) slot intervals to move the holes farther apart. I hope I didn't tangle myself much 😋 and it is understandable, and I hope it helps!!
@@craftyhanded Thank you so much for your super quick and helpful reply! :) Well, it would not be an issue to double-punch (or do multi-punch). For example setting up the holes and moving the paper slightly, punch again, move paper, punch etc. This might work well if the signs on the tool is capable of aligning the paper. I have a tool punching only 1 hole, can do with this, but for an A5 size it would take a lot of time to do that many holes one by one. Also bought a 6 hole puncher (from Ali...s) but unfortunately only the first 3 holes are a match, the rest is out :/ I could find out that wire binding machines patters seems correct - something to do with the 3:1 pattern (whatever this means! :D )
I will post a short little video to show you.
@ here it is in case the notification misses you. Hope it helps! 🤗ua-cam.com/video/MY6DETyq8ss/v-deo.htmlsi=Zag2xC4vWEWCQDoz
Gorgeous finished product.
Thanks so much! ❤
Obrigado! 🎉
Ficou lindo 😍👏👏👏
Muito obrigado 😘
Yeah very nice. The Christmas sweet bread looks good. Thanks for the recipe. Merry Christmas
Thank you! Merry Christmas to you, too! ❤
Thanks for the great video. Loves these types of holiday breads. 💟❤️🌎🌍❤️💟
You are so welcome! ❤ Thank you and Happy holidays!!
It is a very nice recipe, very tasty bread 😍 I bake similar bread here in Croatia. Just a little tip - I see your scale is metric, and I understand your wish to reach more American or English people - but then for weighing flour you should also use cups, not ounces. For butter, sticks and tablespoons. Or just write both in the description. These days more and more people are using metric scales. Mind you, I come from food blogging world so converting for me is easy, but may not be for others. Your channel is very nice, your frames, editing, voice, everything and I predict you many, many success and subscribers😍
Thank you so much for stopping by and your support ❤. I am so glad you liked it 😘 You are right, I forgot to include the ingredients list in the description with other types of units. I fixed it now. The cups are kind of tricky, especially for this type of recipe. Thank you!
I'm an Esthetician, and I would totally love to have one all in black for my spa 😊🧖♀️💆🏻♀️
I think that is a great idea! The change of color to black would make it more elegant but still easy to wear. If you make one, please share! ❤ And thank you for stopping by!!!

Thank you! 😊
Super cute.

You really are SO talented. I absolutely LOVE your voice, it's so soothing. Beautiful work!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
These are really pretty.
Thank you. I'm so happy you like them! ❤
I really love the top!
That’s genius! I love how the only part that wraps around to the front is the bodice closure. Love it!
I know, is't it great how many versions of wrap around dresses there are? So many cool designs. I have couple more I would like to try because they look really interesting. Thank you for stopping by and sweet comment!! ❤
I love love. This dress rhe design is so creative. ❤
I'm very glad you like it ❤
The dress is beautiful! I am astonished you made that only looking at a picture on the envelope. I would love if at some point you went more in depth on how you draft your own patterns. I am a new subscriber and will be watching all your back videos.
Thank you so much for watching! It really means a lot! I will try to go deeper into my pattern making in some video, though I was always doing my patterns and pattern modifications rather by feel and common sense than professional methods. But maybe it could help others like me who don't really have a seamstress education.
Looks lovely thanks
Thank you for watching! ❤
Brilliant & beautiful!!!!!! Lovely!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!!! ❤❤❤
I am so glad you like it! Thank you for a heart-warming comment!!! 😘
Super joli / Lovely... But that newspaper stating that 'obesity is ridiculous'... Ouch. XD Good thing you used the picture and discarded the headlines!..
Thank you for watching and commenting! Oops. I haven't realize what was written there until it was too late. Let's not blow it up please, there was no offense intended and it is not really about the newspapers. (But of course, it will be the one thing everyone will notice.) Well, I can either censor it by blurring like everything else in these times or pretend it is not there and hope no one takes it personally.
The walk away dress is very pretty. It is also a design that works best on petite or slim ladies. The curvier one gets, the less well it works.
Thank you for stopping by and commenting! ❤
I disagree a bit. I am curvy on the bottom but comparably slimmer on top, and this kind of skirts are normally perfect to hide my hindquarters just fine 🤣 Just did not try the skirt yet, but you could take a look at the Theclosethistorian, who made the skirt as well and is not petit/slim, and the dress turned out amazing.
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you! ❤
I love grandma’s tip!! 🥰
Thank you 😘. I will tell her.
Thanks for this video, I'll keep it.
I am so happy it was useful. Thank you!!
Pretty funny for an Apple employee 👍🏼
Thank you for a comment :) It was not so funny when I first saw my keyboard 😀 It was something between disgusting and hopeless. So I thought there was not much I could do worse, haha. Are you an Apple employee?
😂😂 I wasn't referring to the "CATastrophe' i ment you! You're pretty for an apple employee! ahahaha and if you're not one, you feckin should be they're a bunh of waster see you en teez mostly ffs. anyways. It's been a pleasure 👊🏼

Beautiful just iikeyou
Thank you you for a sweet compliment! 😘
Walk away smock
Well, I've learned a new word 😊 Thank you for stoping by!
I really like the look with the double buttons in the back!
Yes, I thought it was a nice detail :) Though, maybe you have noticed, I didn't use the back buttons for the short apron, because the pull of the skirt on the bodice was minimal, so all I needed was a couple of snap buttons for the skirt. Thank you for stopping by!
Most dress sewing patterns are consisting of a walk a way dress style , my opinion
I actually don't know if the "walkaway dress" refers more to the style of the dress or the fact that it is supposed to be so easy you can make it in a day if you want. But I kind of connect it with the style over the head - wrap around - 50's dress I guess because the first one was like that 😀
oooh, I really love when youtube shows me gorgeous channels like yours!!! Thank you for sharing the process to this beautiful dress. It was so well made! I'm in love ❤
Thank you so much! I am really happy you've enjoyed it. ❤
This is absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you so much! ❤
Very pretty!
Thank you! 😊
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
your commentary is 🔥
Is that good or bad? :)
@@craftyhanded it's really good. love it
So I tried to clean a single key that's been giving me trouble, but it doesn't spring back up like other keys. Please advise.
Hello, which key are you having the problem with? It could be the problem deeper in the keyboard under the little plastic nob which is supposed to lift your key up. When you push it without the key does it spring back up?
@@craftyhanded I have the same problem after cleaning just the key /- 1 -2
Hi, Great video, great tips a very handy video, Thank you 👍
Glad it was helpful! Thank you 😘
There's a free version of the Walkaway dress? THankyou for the tip! I wanted to make this one for so long but the repro looked like trash!
You are welcome, though they all need some adjusting. But I guess every pattern need some adjusting to fit different bodies. I suggest making a mockup first or using some cheap fabric before committing. Good luck! ❤
Stunning dress. Great combination of fabric. Still working on mine, and the adjusting is crazy
Thank You! You can do it! I'd love to see your version! ❤
Nice! The sound of your voice is very soothing. You deserve more views!
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful!! ❤

Your dress is lovely! I just discovered your channel and I am soooooooooooooooooooo a cat fan. May I ask what breed of kitty you have. He or she is gorgeous! I did subscribe to your channel and look forward to more of what you do. I too do many different types of hand projects and love seeing what others do.🥰
Thank you so much!! 😘 I adopted my kitty from a pet shelter when he was little, so I can't tell if he's any special breed, but his personality is exceptional. He came with a name Bacardi, but I renamed him Flash because he was so fast when he was a kitten. He is very intelligent and very attached to me. Do you share your projects anywhere?
What????? Why don’t you just wear an apron over a white dress? I don’t get it.
Because then I would have to make a dress AND an apron :) This is two in one. I think this was their way of simplifying in the 50's
Thank you for sharing the bits that didn’t work out perfectly as well as the ones that did-that’s very helpful. The end result was very pretty.
I am so glad! Thank you 😊
I am tickled at how much this challenge blew up world wide. From a style most of us never heard of or have seen....well so many sewers know of it. You did not mention leaving your dress hanging overnight to let the bias drop. I have not made this dress, but many others have mentioned this. Your dress is lovely and moves well with you.
I am sorry I didn't mention leaving the bias to drop. On the other hand, if the dress was supposed to be made in 4 hours, I guess one shouldn't worry about it much :) I was using pre-washed 100% cotton, and even after leaving it hanging overnight, the only problem I had with the bottom edge was in the pattern, as I mentioned. Thank you so much for commenting! ❤ It is interesting how this dress pattern spread :) But I don't know what made it so popular above others. Is it the supposed 'quick and easy' or its shape or the wrap that is so attractive? It would be good to know why others made it. I like the 50' style dresses and thought this wraparound feature would be cool, and I am really happy I tried it.
🐈 I love black cats. I have six. BEST WISHES FROM BRASIL
Your cat friend is a gorgeous Boy
Thank you 😊. I pass on the message to him. He is my sweetheart, but they all are in a way or other. I'm running a mini-shelter myself 😉. All the best to you!
