Nice comparison. Just got a used reference 480 8GB that had been lying in a wardrobe for a few years off of my country’s local version of EBay for 18$! Some compressed air and new paste on it and it runs like a champ! Now that VRAM of textures are becoming a real issue, anything below 8GB (except maybe 2060 6GB that can use DLSS4 upscaling) will soon become as irrelevant as the GPUs under 4GB were until now. But the 480 will chug along in my e-sports pc for now. Cheers!

I remember playing this on a machine that had just melted its graphics card. It still ran, but textures weren't always right, and there was some system instability. At first I blamed this game, but now I simply haven't played it.

Alright, since the original version of "Metro: Last Light" benchmark tool is messed up (I was lucky that my Iris Xe destroys Ryzen APUs (e.g. Vega 7 and Vega 8), HD 5870, and GTX 560 Ti, the only GPUs to take 60 FPS in 1,080p at normal settings using DirectX 10, is the GTX 780 and above, e.g. it could be GTX TITAN), so, what I want to request. Even "Metro: Last Light: "Redux"" gets me 37 FPS minimum (versus 44 FPS minimum for the original version, if I don't include a "bottlenecked" scenario of D6 gunfight at the back, otherwise 43 FPS minimum) at the same settings (4xAF and no motion blur, DirectX 11 as you can't change DirectX unlike in the original version's benchmark tool, and FOV increased to 70 for better performance, only for the remastered version) using Iris Xe, 59 FPS average (same FPS (59 FPS) average for the original version), and 91 FPS maximum (versus 85 FPS maximum for the original version). P.S.: The remastered version performs good both in-game and in the benchmark tool for Iris Xe, but for original version, it performs okay both in-game and in the benchmark tool, and at normal settings, the original and remastered versions performs good both in-game and in the benchmark tool, but it may perform a little bit slower than GT 1030 at normal settings, original version, no SSAA, no tessellation, and DirectX 10. The original version performs a little bit faster than the remastered version, and in my opinion, the original version, normal or high settings, everything set to off/minimum, no SSAA, no tessellation, and DirectX 10 is the best combination for me. Can you test "Metro: Last Light: "Redux"" (remastered version, not the original version), using the following graphics tests and GPUs? mine died in like 2020, I think. (pc at my parents, I was running a gtx980 on my primary pc at the time) This gpu still did fine on games like Battlefield 3 and Crysis 3, which is kind of impressive. Though I might've played them on 1680x1050 at the time. not sure

Hey, Good Gold GPUs, can you test the GTX 780, "Metro: Last Light" (original version) benchmark tool in 1,080p at medium/normal settings, no tessellation (tessellation is off), DirectX 10, no SSAA (SSAA is off/unticked), AF 4x, and motion blur is set to low? I want to see how does it perform (could it reach 120 FPS)?

Had the Battlefield 4 Edition from Sapphire (just the game's code in the box lol) and i had to take out the plastic frame for her to fit in my old Cooler Master Scout, terrible sound and heat ensues... Once i get my Fractal Focus many years later, i put the shroud back and optimized the fan curve, it was like having a new GPU !

To see those two cards still holding up for 1080p gaming in 2024 ... is just amazing ...altough i would like to see if the 390 could fare a bit better with some heavy OC ... i know i will not catch up with the 980ti , but cmon ... for science !

I just managed to get myself nice deal today. Intel i7-920, Asus P6T mobo, 16gb DDR3, superflower 550w PSU and GTX 480 for total of just 30€. Can't wait to play my old games with proper PC. There's just something special in these old parts or maybe they just remind us how old we are.. 24 forever!

Although the card is okay-ish for low settings gaming, I can't say I'd recommend this card to anyone as yes it is receiving support but it will receive fewer and fewer bug fixes and game ready drivers because of it being on a different driver branch from RDNA cards, I believe the 580 is a polaris card. Instead of the 580, I'd recommend saving up just a small amount more and buying a used RTX 2060 which will give significantly more performance and is still receiving support. Just thought I'd put this here for anyone coming across this and researching GPUs for a budget build. Great video for a benchmark though!
