This year, I thought of a lullaby, a slow song with a great sense of longing and melancholia, like a long-desired embrace. I stumbled across the ‘Winter Wonderland’ lyrics and was astounded by how poetic these lines are and was surprised by how these exact words seem to lose their depth when sung in their original jolly way. So I came up with a new chord progression and an accompanying melody. To give this ‘Winter Wonderland’ rendition a Christmas carol feel, I kindly asked Craig, Laura and André to record their vocals. To be honest, I didn’t explain much about what it was exactly that I was looking for, I believed it would happen naturally. And it really did. Craig and André perfected the final version by adding their distinctive guitar parts, and with a touch of snow from a nightly blizzard.
