You're right, I hadn't noticed that but the opening theme is NOT in this episode. Seems some of these stories are so packed they have to cut corners for time. We see Loid thinking that Anya "managed to avoid failing all of her tests on her own," which means he didn't have to change any of her answers. His immediate concern was only avoiding the bolts that would get her expelled, and he doesn't take unnecessary risks. Nobody knows that Anya is actually doing remarkably well considering she's in an advanced class for her age.

12:26 also of interest here is it shows that sometime between the death of Flamme and the joining the Hero's party, Frieren fought demons, but stopped for some reason. Hopefully sometime we learn why, it would make a pretty golden flashback.

Stoltz was in the show for a solid i dunno 45 seconds? Yet it moved me to the point of my eyes watering... Me an almost 30 yo guy who has not cried since the age of 12... Also, the complete and utter subversion of the stupid "chosen one" trope with Himmel. This show is something else man.

What an amazing episode!!! This episode just confirmed the backstory from Season 1 episode 10, where Damian was alone in the picture of the entrance ceremony, while all other children were with their parents/guardians. In old times, especially among nobles and royalty, it was known as "the HEIR and the SPARE". Parents would name their firstborn the HEIR (the one to inherit everything and carry on the family legacy and they would spend a large bulk of time, money and resources to prepare him/her for that role in the future). But JUST IN CASE something unexpected happens to the HEIR they would also have a second child, who would be the SPARE (their "backup plan" to insure that someone will carry on the legacy of the family). But as along as the HEIR is alive and well, the SPARE was almost always not of top concern (the SPARE would also be taken care of, in terms of money, education and resources, but not as much as the HEIR).

Becky's crush is played up for comedy. Though, growing up in a latinex neighborhood, its kinda normal. Cuz ive seen girls have crushes on older dudes. Some on other kids parents. Ive seen kids watch telenovelas with their mothers and talk about it like its last weeks saturday cartoons.

IMO, Aura isn’t dumb. She’s lived 500 years and become as much of a problem as she is by being exceedingly careful and ruthless. She even intentionally baited Frieren into expending a ton of mana before casting Auserlese to guarantee her victory. She just got absolutely sniped in doing so because Frieren has been stacking the deck against demons for a millennium. I only say this because I think it makes Frieren’s feat that much more exciting. Calling her enemies dumb because they didn’t account for Frieren’s (and Flamme’s) utterly insane strategy is both unwarranted and undersells just how awesome and OP our girl is.

Stark's lack of self-esteem (probably borne of his father's treatment) makes him interpret his experiences in a way that paints him as cowardly or weak. It's a common thing people can end up doing, and we can see it with Stark's belief in why Eisen punched him, his fear in facing the dragon, in his fight with Linie, and even in how he remembers his childhood. It's only after being reminded of his being loved, and the faith and respect people have for him based on how they've seen him, does he stop recontextualizing his "running away" as a measure of his weakness, and remembers that it was an act of love.

To reflect our more nuanced understandings of history, much media with demons can interpret their... "demonization" by humans as analogous to racism. It was very common to assign negative traits to enemies in an essentialist manner to make war and inhumane actions more palatable, and as our societies have started to move away from this, our media does as well. Frieren, interestingly enough, subverts this by making them at first appear to be humanlike, but then quickly be revealed to be true monsters.

I saw a lot of reaction wanting stark to pick it up. I don't know why people say that, I don't think stark needs that. He never wanted to become a hero. All he wanted is to become a strong warrior as his family wanted. the point of this whole story is about that they do not need that approval nor destiny to define what they are or what they will be. He's not a hero that was chosen, he's the one who stood up and chose to change the world and make it a better place.

The VA for Stoltz is the same as Loid Forger from Spy Family, Takuya Eguchi.

Himmel is not the chosen Hero. Himmel chose to be a Hero. Eisens with the best voice-lines probably.

Here some medicine and science based facts in the show, love it. Any other "heating up" method will lead you probably instantly to a cardiac arrest. A real cool thing would be, if frieren can in aureole also meet the son of the count. Or Fern her parents and Stark his Brother (now on this moment, she has watched the 12 episode :D) "How is he getting colder?" The blatantly difference between the core temperature in the body (and surface) and the heat in the log-house was to much, the blood vessels widened so fast that the blood pressure can't be stabilize anymore. Probably.

The first flower-field was only white pattern ... no compare to the second episode were on the church everything was wonderful colorful. That's also one reason why Aura didn't know her, because Flamme told her to do be quite till she killed the demon king.
