Nice and informative. Bought a few of these years back. Here are some telescopic rods I recommend if you’re able to find them in North America. Daiwa Blazon Mobile MB Daiwa crossbeat SW 23 Shimano Freegame “振出” This phrase might help you search for more telescopic rods on whatever platform you’re searching on.
I have been looking into going on a Peacock Bass trip to Columbia or Venezuela but I have not found a lot of outfitters there. Can you tell me who you are guiding for in those countries or give me some contact info and I will reach out to you. Thank you!
Look me up on face book or Instagram. Mpwiderman@instagram . Matthew Podobinski on Facebook. Ill be happy to talk with you

Top eight examples of convergent evolution in ray-finned fish: 1) Salmo (Atlantic Salmon and Trout) and Oncorhynchus (Pacific Salmon and Trout) 2) Black Basses (tribe Micropterini) and peacock basses (tribe Cichlini) 3) Marine Angelfish (family Pomacanthidae) and marine butterflyfish (family Chaetodontidae) 4) Gunnels (family Pholidae) and convict blennies (family Pholidichthyidae) 5) Old World Knifefish (superfamily Notopteroidea) and New World Knifefish (order Gymnotiformes) 6) Pikes (family Esocidae) and barracudas (family Sphyraenidae) 7) gars (family Lepisosteidae) and needlefish (family Belonidae) 8) bettas and cometfish
What do you think about this rod for 1-5 oz swimbaits, primarily for large mouth bass? I got the code to work, but it has to be in all capital letters.
Yes it would definitely throw baits that heavy. It's a beast of a rod.
I own the rod and the only mess is the lack of a rigid tube...I actually bought a very cheap rod just for the case....threw away the rod and use the tube to store this
As an aside Bone Voyage is also worth checking out....I have a bone PE 2-4..the ironman PE4-8 and then a smith company PE10 (that cost a bomb but well worth the money as a good PE 10 travel rod is very hard to lay hands on)
Next time just make one out of a PVC tube!
Great review on a great rod, thank you MP. With a big snook trip coming up in a few weeks I've been going back and forth, break out a Beast Flogger or Snake Charmer Double Tap, both are rated Heavy (I have a bunch for different Jabbers rods and they have some more really cool stuff coming out soon) - decided on the Snake Charmer. I'm wearing out the 6'9" Snake Charmer and wanted a bit more length for long throws to the big wary snook. The XXH Rage Receiver spinning was flawless last month in Panama handling cuberas up to 45 pounds and a huge nurse shark and even bigger hammerhead no problem. The 5'10" Diabolus spinning and casting (also Double Tap with two different tip sections) are perfect Amazon rods for choppers and were magic in Panama also. The PE 2-4 Jamboree jigging rods worked perfectly in Panama not only jigging but when throwing lures too and were a blast on good sized snook and roosters. Isaac from Singapore (Mr. Jabbers) tore em up and had some beautiful prototypes which will prompt another order in a few months. His lighter rods like the Fin Raiser, Pleasure Seeker and Urban Beats are excellent and have replaced my Exprides and Zodias. With an engineering background and exhaustive travels he never ceases to amaze and each visit is an education. Here at home in South Florida my high end one piece rods are mostly collecting dust, these rods are that good and I will never again travel with a big rod tube. The tough clear plastic short tube that comes with the Wanderlust rods holds up to five or six rod sections without the butts which go in separately, I color coded the ends for no hassle matching up pieces. Eight rods in my checked bag used up minimal space and weight. Enjoy safe travels and big fish, subscribed.
Thanks for the kind words ! Glad you are getting after it!!
You could definitely take them as a carry on . I'll include that info in future videos. Very short put it that way. What are you going to fish for in the glades??
what size of fishing line do you recommend for catching fish like in the thumbnail picture?
I wouldn't actually recommend going after fish that big with this rod. I caught that fish while i was fishing for bass. I was using 11lh test. In order to target fish that big youd want to use a heavier rod and reel. Although the rod is capable of landing large fish, its not capable of casting large baits@@BH-iv8yu
@@BH-iv8yuI wouldn't target musky with this rod , its far too light to throw big musky baits. I caught that fish while i was fishing for bass with 11lb test.
I've been researching travel rods for an Everglades trip and these caught my eye. What is the overall length when collapsed? I need it to fit in a carry on.
You could definitely take them as a carry on. They are very short. What are you fishing for in the glades? If it's tarpon I'd go with other options.
