    I have a Mad Force cruiser (same driveline) I put 3 gallons through it with not one transmission problem, other than having to set 3rd gear, but I also set mesh before it ever saw fuel. Honestly the most reliable R/C I've ever had, and I have been in the hobby since 1995. I will say the bodies are weak however.

    Did you use a flex hone or flat stone brake hone? How did you keep the flat stone from entering the slot in the housing when you run it in there? Did you make a spacer or something to take up that slot? I have the same issue and I’m going nuts right now.

    • @Rusty-Metal
      @Rusty-Metal 26 днів тому

      It's skips over the slot. It did chip the hone a tad. I used a flat stone cylinder hone. Check around to be sure this doesn't ruin anything. I haven't seen any issues so far, but you never know. I think really my issue was burs and high spots on the quill. Because it took a lot of work on that too get it to fit finally. I used an India stone on that running it in figure eights. I could see the marks where it seemed to rub on the housing so I worked on those. I found it quite odd as you could not even feel those high spots! But that finally worked after literally hours of rubbing. It was so damn frustrating. I feel your pain. Two evenings I gave up. I just got so frustrated.

      @@Rusty-Metal update: I borrowed a two stone-two felt wiper hone from the job. Honed about 3 light passes and whipped it out real careful. I don’t have a foggy clue what the hold up was but it’s a good running fit now with no tight spots or drag. I gained the confidence to do that from your video so I appreciate the unintentional push to resolve the issue with this method. 😎👍

    As awesome as this truck looks, especially with the solid axle design (something you dont see at all these days), the quality issues keep me from buying one. Kyosho seems to be even more stuck in the past then Tamiya and while they also ask a high price for a made in Japan produce, they now have many parts produced in China. I am not paying that "made in Japan" money for something thats not made there. And these parts are obviously lower quality. Like: the one way bearings are apparently no-brand China ones, instead of high quality ones from Germany and they often seem to go bad from what I have seen, servos also seem to fry alot and cause runaways. Then theres the clutch bell bearings issue (likely also low quality bearings) or the plastic gears getting chewed up by the gear shifter prongs. And that REALLY expensive shell (70€ for unpainted, 110€ for painted?!?), is like glass. Look at Tamiya shells, they cost way way way less and can take a ton of abuse. I will probably end up buying a Savage XL 5.9, even though I like the USA 1 more, simply because of the quality issues and design flaws.

    • @Rusty-Metal
      @Rusty-Metal 29 днів тому

      @@xXYannuschXx yes this is definitely made on China and has qc issues. The trans is still a joke on my 2nd one. I had to create a 2 speed trans using their 1/8 scale on road parts to fix this one. Thankfully it's never needed any work after that. I am surprised.

    Long flight on that heli. Looking at your yard, its plenty big enough to learn inverted hovering which is where you need to start anyways. Also, the Goosky S1 and S2 is a great resilient trainer for anything you want to do. It takes a very hard crash to break parts on either of these helis, and parts are dirt cheap. I dont believe your Vbar touch will work with them, though.

    Its a great beginner heli but thats it. I glad i sold mine, it was a pos! I even bought a blade fusion 360 3s for $500 new (i know what a dumb ass) it was a pos too. So many things wrong out of the box. And that shitty fbl does some weird shit! Ive heard horror stories about the 6250hx. When people ask, hey i wanna get a cp heli, i recommend goosky or omp cause parts are cheap and performance is solid. Lol "flys like a drunk" Also the best fbl spectrum ever came out with was the ar7210 beast X. That 6250hxb, its like they took a 16 bit PID drone micro controller, tried to configure for helis; then added spectrum magic, threw it in the oven with other bs and it came out half baked. Thats what it is! The 6250hx is a half baked FBL unit! Im done with blade helis. The cost of parts and the performance of their helis are lacking. There is so much to tweak and fix out of the box. They make great beginner helis but if u want performance blade is not it. A tail boom for the gosky s2 is 4$ vs for their new infusion 120, the tail boom 14$ "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing"

Also, if i fly low head speed then will 500/550 electronics work fine on 700 size? And final question, how Logo 550/600 stay in a crash? I heard that shafts are kinda weak and bend easily.

    I know this is an old Protos 700 video,I also have the Protos 700.I remember you mentioned that you removed the tension pulley for the main belt.How's that working out for you since you removed it?I have the old design for the motor mount with the tension pulley.No one sells that main belt size now since XL Power redesigned the motor mount with a shorter main belt.I'm on my last new main belt,i really don't want buy the new motor mount,i understand that the new motor mount has a bottom bearing block for better strength and support which requires a longer motor shaft to reach the bottom bearing.My motor is using a 6mm motor shaft (XNova 4530) and not long enough to use the new motor mount,which is another reason why I don't want to buy the new motor mount.Anyway,i hope to hear back from you about the motor mount that you modded and also hope that you still own that Protos 700 to give me an update on it.I'm assuming you were using the shorter main belt for it after you made the mod?

Then I realised what a piece of rubbish this 230s is, now wish I never wasted my money on it. I suppose if I can fly the Blade 230s I can fly anything, as it is all over the place. Yeah. Knee is locked. Gibs are as tight as can be without binding. Just an older machine with wear. 1963. 48 inch table doesn't help. They used too small of bearing surface for the saddle ways for a table that large in my opinion. I'm very happy with this though as it's just a hobby machine and very usable though most of the travel. Even at the ends for hobby use it'll be fine. Doubt I'll ever have something that long to mill that needs to be within 1 thou anyway. Still way better than my new, now sold, Taiwanese machine with 2 tho off on a 28 inch table!
