Those 15fps you are getting in CP 2077. My 14 yo would call them playable. I played Metro 2033 and Lol on 15-20 fps when was a kid and literally saw no problems with it. Untill I switched my 512mb graphics card with 2gb one
I got over 1,000 days into my Minecraft world back a few years ago on a low powered Intel Celeron N2815, slower than a Pentium 4 641. I knew it was bad, but managed it. (: In Cinebench R23, the Celeron N2815 gets 188 points for the single core test, 360 for the multi core test. The Pentium 4 641 gets: 245 Single, 457 Multi.
Damn, i always thought my i5-540m is the worst. Never knew there is something even worse
If you want something worth calling horrible look into the Intel salon g440, or the AMD athlon 160u.
I have 8 gb ram and i purchase used my Gateway
Nice! 8 GB of DDR3 RAM should be more than enough for a system like that. :-)
i5 2400\8gb\5770 2011year
That sounds like a nice computer!
My first i5 was the i5 2400. I used it with a GTX680 and 16GB RAM. these chips are partially unlocked (up to 400MHz more) Even overclocked it to 3.8GHz on a Z77 board. Later I got a 2500K which was fully unlocked and I overclocked to 4.5GHz.
Are they quite a bit faster when you overclock them?
@@digitaljon1109 Depends on the game. Generally about 5-15% more FPS in CPU heavy games with the non K i5 and i7 cpu's. On the unlocked K series CPU's you are talking about 20-30% more fps if you run it at about 4.2-4.5GHz
Similar experience, I had the i5 3330 and spent quite a bit to upgrade to an i5 3570k. When I think back, it was probably a bad idea and bad "upgrade" especially considering I never manually overclocked it lol.
I highly advice you to use the Counterpart to the i7 2600 which is Xeon e3 1240 v2
If I'm not mistaken isn't that the version one that would be the counterpart? Because the person 2 tends to be the ivy bridge and the 2600 is Sandy bridge which is older.
@@digitaljon1109 i know you've guessed that earlier than me,yeah that's the ivy bridge xeon and it's equivalent is i7 4770

2:28 I can testify as a guy who used to play all games with the lowest settings. When playing games on lowest settings you'd see sh*t that you wouldn't normally see. Just like this frame here, you can see that the game is processing the faraway vehicles which is very interesting.
It's pretty fun watching the old Celeron struggle.
I used to play Dying light exactly like this on my aunt's PC. Intel core i-5 760 (that's the model? don't remember), 4gb DDR3 and and 5450 HD. The difference is I had 20 fps and 1280*720. I finally played this game like a normal human being on PS4 and to my surprise, the control was easier on Dualshock4 (unlike most games I play and when playing them I wish I was playing them on PC)
I think it would be a lot better if you didn't have the hd 5450. I have one of those cards and it's been a long time since I used it. I remember it being extremely slow. How did you like playing a game with the proper frame rate?
@@digitaljon1109 tbh, when a game is on low framerarte, you might see more details. Bt playing on PS4 was a blast, I felt better, my eyes didn't get hurt even though after playing for a longtime on Ps4, I got motion sickness. I will builda pc in future and play DL on 60+ fps.
@@sasan7606 True! I also notice more things in the game at low FPS, it's quite odd!
@@digitaljon1109 maybe because our brain has less frames and more time to process 🤔
maybe you got a 1gb version but still impressive that only 1gb can deliver a 153.6gb/s
Is still a pretty usable graphics card even for some modern easy to run games like bethel bit remastered. :-)
A Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz from 2004 manages to run minecraft 1.8.9 at 30 fps, this cpu I have to say is much better in minecraft than it looks
This Celeron is running the Bedrock version, which is easier to run than Java. But for a single core CPU, the Celeron does a very good job! ;p
it'd probably work well on a flat world
It works well on a normal world, and likely even better on a flat one. (:
6-7 chunks is playable with this, until you get an elytra.
An Elytra will likely still give you decent FPS.. But the world will not want too load in, and you will be flying into the void. I even have that happen with my i7 3770 sometimes.
nice vid liked it
Thank you Ruben! 🍪🍪🙂🙂
Really shows how optimized Bedrock is, looking at you Java. Yet bugs and lacking features make up it's good sides
@@Dgs-ec2fv It's the very optimized! Java wouldn't run good at all.
It's because bedrock is optimized for mobile devices which is honestly holding back bedrocks potential Also Microsoft barely cares about Java optimization, they can they just don't the only updates that actually fix a lot of things were 1.15 and 1.21.2
@@jacobthompson1209 I'd say Bedrock is a very good version of the game, even if you don't have as much support for mods, or shaderpacks. The fact you can have your friends join your game without making a server, and it runs so well, to me makes it the better version.

Good job
Thanks for watching!
i know people who have sandy bridge/ivy bridge cpus that are like this, i genuinely don't understand why they don't upgrade to a xeon, for me i used to own an i3 3210, got a 3.6ghz xeon with 4c/8t for less than 20usd, insane upgrade, feels like a modern, 12th gen i3 levels of performance, can you make a video in the future buying an upgrading this pc to a xeon ( show step involved, bios support, ebay purchase ) to just let people know, complaining about bad performance is entirely their problem and that they can easily upgrade? This would be a great help to me, thanks, also, great video.
Nice video suggestion! I actually did something along the line with a Xeon in the past. I think it was the Xeon 1230.
Im very sure a extremly lightweight linux should work with that. If a dual core processor is a very usable with a light light de like the xfce from linux, then a 1 core is able to do it. Also this CPU is better than 13th and 14th Generation Intel CPUs.
the 13th and 14th gen intel cpus’ power draw problem was fixed already, so no
I disagree. The modern CPU works a lot better even my Pentium G7400 is significantly better.
Cute music

Hi lock
Hello!
Is it better without screen recording?
I wasn't recording with the cpu. I was using a capture card. So this is the raw performance of the cpu.
the way i understand it, the reason the textures start going potato mode graphics / disappearing basically your CPU its struggling so much with trying to load and calculate everything it can get overwhelmed with the amount of data and become bottlenecked which in turn slows down how quickly textures can be loaded, thats why it doesnt happen right as you start the game the CPU has a few minutes of breathing room before it gets overwhelmed. ive actually experience the same thing back when i used the Ryzen 5 3600 which even today is still a great mid range CPU, but after a few hours of playing specifically GTA Online it finally started doing the same thing seen in the video although less severe, and was immediatly fixed by restarting the game.
@@ruinfox4108 that is quite weird! I wouldn't expect the Ryzen CPU to struggle like that. Was it at 100%?
@@digitaljon1109 I have to assume so, i didnt bother trying to run RTSS when i had it, now using the Ryzen 5 7600x and havent faced the problem since.
1c/2t, what could you expect. However, Pentium Pentium G620 2c/2t should be able to get around 30 FPS, i.e. game is technically playable.
@@aleksazunjic9672 with a single-core CPU I expect 3,420 frames per second. It's doing a lot better than my Celeron G440. I won't be testing it though. I gave it away.
Awesome powerpoint presentation-level performance.
@@ChrisBro095 I have a couple more videos coming on this CPU in the next couple days or weeks. It actually does quite good in minecraft. (:
Made it halfway through the video, then my hotspot throttled down! SMH
Sounds about right!
Try 720p next time with a trash cpu or gpu
720P helps in a GPU bound situation, but it seems to do nothing with a CPU bound situation.
I have one of these in an XP machine with one of the 'better' core2duos and it's great for late era XP/early vista era titles. Its in an old dell (very) SFF so had to rig up a fan to handle exhaust from the PSU and the GPU which does run solidly at 80c and is always pegged 100% in harder titles but for the power draw and price and space - still a good deal in the right use case
I really should pull it out and tested again. It's been a long time since I used it. It would be neat to see how it runs some modern games.
Try games at 740p for a higher fps.
A lower resolution doesn't tend to help in a CPU bound situation like this. It doesn't matter if I'm at 144p or 1440 p. But if I had let's say a gt710 it would actually matter. But I have an Overkill graphics card so the resolution doesn't really affect too much.
valorant?
@@iammuvit14 yes, that's a video game
Cpu northbridge clock? Cas latency on that entry level ddr3 kit? What motherboard did you used?
I'm not sure what motherboard I used, I am away from the house with that PC. In terms of RAM, I used 2 sticks, 8 GB each, of G.Skill, 1,600 MHz.. At least if I remember right.
Used a Phenom 2 6-core from 2010 to 2014. It was heavily bottlenecking a gtx770 back then.
@@JohnDoe_333 that's impressive! I'm pretty surprised how weak the 6 core is. But then again most games back then probably didn't use more than one core.
if you test using dxvk it seriously helps these old chip often doubling or tripling fps
@@josephdias5859 what does dxvk do?
@@digitaljon1109 it swaps direct x for vulkan using a swap chain lowering cpu overhead which is a huge problem for direct x also in games that only use 1 core they will use all the cores instead. disabling spectre and meltdown using inspectre will help all older chips. also you can cut down your nvidia driver to barebones modified install along with your windows install with older chips it will greatly improve performance. and for your chip overclocking your hypertransfer and bus will greatly improve performance making it on par with a fx 6300 because the biggest flaw of phenom chips is the slower cache and hyper transfer other than that they have higher ipc than theyre fx counterparts with proper tuning they can beat them
it performed better than my old i5-2310 on PUBG🤣 I'm a bit surpised since the i5 is a bit better in single core and like 3% worse on multi core perf. seems like the actual 6 physical cores actually helped?
its because the phenom is super close to the xbox 1 and ps4s cpu and i think it has more cache although really slow cache
@@josephdias5859 not really the xbox one ps4 will have sse4.2
@@yanagida_01 I think the six cores actually helped in this situation. But in general it's not very good. The single core performance is really slow it seems. Probably in games like Minecraft your i5 will beat it by quite a bit.

@@josephdias5859 probably not a lot in it but 8 cores get the job done
Due to the low GPU usage on most of these tests, I feel like visual settings could have been turned up a little with minimal impact on performance.
You are a correct to a point. It highly depends on the game. Some of the games you can crank the settings and have no impact to the CPU. Or at least very minimal. But other games it makes a huge difference. And I can't remember every single game so if it's a slow CPU I just automatically default to setting it to the low settings. It saves time making the video. :-)
Csgo frame drops when you die and reload but during gameplay it stays 90 and up
Nice! (:
My old cpu 😮 time has flew by loved the cpu at its time still have same mobo along with its upgraded cpu (3770)
The i7 3770 is a great upgrade for that, or if you want ultra budget, go for a Xeon from the time, they are similar in speed. (:
Got a case swapped optiplex 3020 with a 4790 and gtx 970 for the tv to play games through emulation. Its useable for all my needs that I wonder if my ryzen 5 3600 and rx 5700 pc is excessive and if i really need it
I personally wouldn't need a more high end PC. I have an i5 13400F at one house, at the other the i7 3770. No problem with the old i7. I can get by with even the old i3 2120.. But barely. The 6 core Phenom, no.. Sadly things I need don't work on that CPU.
i'm pushing second generation to it's limits, didn't touch the i3 2100-2200 but started with i5-2300 and now im on 2400 too. It's only 1-3% difference but the performance is literally better than FX-4/6100 or older Phenoms. Now i'm waiting for 2550k so i can try some OC on my z77. It's pretty old, but for "budget" the best option. I spend around $50 bucks on it. 750 Ti from Gainward and woah, it can run some great games like Dying Light or other from 2015-2016 Topics about cooling are simple, using stock coolers pushing these cpus to around 80-100% makes them 69-78 degrees (which i5-2300 could handle 73 max)
I'd argue even the Intel Celeron G470 (1 core, 2 threads) is better than the 6 core Phenom, as at least the Celeron can open most things, the Phenom can't sadly. Why did you choose to go with the i5, and not something with 8 threads? I have a GTX 750 Ti, although it's not horrible, I hugely dislike it.. I do anything to not use it. 😂 Maybe an RX 470 would be a better choice.
I used an i5-2500 up until last spring when my mobo finally bit the dust. Still great for every day computing.
They are quite good. And then the i7 is even better. I have the i7 3770 in my main pc. And it's coming along just fine even in 2024. :-)
@@digitaljon1109 bruh i still have that cpu as my main drive with 1080 ti! lol

Destiny game mode was Patrol, basically free roam which includes world events (like the glimmer extractor mission you were in) :)
Thanks! Is that a good place to benchmark?
@@digitaljon1109 I would say so, there is usually always something going on, better than trying to benchmark in the crucible where there are only 12 people maximum :) at least in patrol, you have a lot of enemies as well as people bouncing around
at 4:59 you say that you're unsure why the Pentium is able to launch certain games while the 2400s can't and vice versa, I have a feeling Bladepoint has a dependency on newer instruction sets that are introduced on the G7400 that aren't present on the 2400s, just a sneaking suspicion though.
That sounds like a good enough reason to me. :-) either that or it's maybe graphics driver related. I doubt it.
@@digitaljon1109 Maybe a TPM issue?
@@flexibilityosu What is a "TPM"? I forgot.
BeamNG you should crash into something not just drive around, isn't that game around physics specifically.
@@LikeTotallyEMB crashing into things is what most people do. But I like to drive around mostly. Even after playing it 1,700 hours. When crashing it doesn't really hurt the frame rate all that much. But really does is traffic.
