Apple CarPlay / Android Auto for your Seat Leon MK3 (MIB1 & 2) - How to Install DIY
Nice job buddy!
Sounds aewsome
Front clamp isn’t over the slots. Might end up leaking.
Yo yo, good shout, I think the clamp was just covering the end of the slot (which is how I like to do it, rightly or wrongly) so hopefully it will be okay, but I may move it back a little bit as you say. It was a very tight fit anyway so should be fine 🤞 Thanks for watching ❤ Thanks for watching
@ worse case spray it with soapy water and see if it bubbles.
🥔
Fancy doing mine 😂! Xmas dinner on me 😅 Other than the dreaded water pump these ea888 are a gem
Haha, I'd rather not suffer through it again! 😂 To be fair it wasn't the worst job I've done. They certainly are fantastic engines, bar the few very specific flaws. Thanks for watching, hope it helps. :)
Will this work for mk7 gti?
Yes it should do, as long as you have the media unit in the glovebox, which you should have on a GTI :)
Hi, i just instaled it in my car. Everything works fine with one exception. When I put reverse gear screen with park sensors won't appear on the android auto screen. I need to manuały switch to car interface to see park sensors. In settings option to show park sensors is enabled. Any idea what went wrong?
Hi There! Glad to hear your unit is working fine, I hope the video helped. Very strange that the parking sensors don't appear on the screen, they certainly do appear on the CarPlay screen for me. Perhaps that's a problem specifically with the Android Auto on the device, although it seems unlikely. I didn't have to change any settings to get it to appear. The car in the video is DSG, is yours DSG automatic? Maybe that makes a difference.
You have a link to a cable that you are refering to for the AMI port
Hi there, the link to the AMI to Aux cable is in the description. Thanks for watching :)
@@WheelzonWheelsbut do you have to leave your phone connected to the aux
@ no you don’t, you just plug the cable in and then the “Aux” option appears in the “Media” menu as shown in the video. 😊
@@WheelzonWheels ok ty, ur so helpful
How does it work when you are using the standard stereo and switch to Carplay - does that keep playing? Ie, can you use Radio + Waze for example?
Hi there! Yes you can use the standard radio audio, and the CarPlay screen at the same time. :) Thanks for watching!
Great video, you make it sound like something I can have a go at! I’ve bought the unit you’ve updated the link to. Question: I use AMI to usb cable to charge my phone as my other port is used for dashcam. If I keep it to usb and have my phone connected does that mean I don’t need to install the wifi cable? Thanks!
Hi there, thanks for watching and your kind comment! You won't be able to connect to the unit using the AMI to USB adapter, because the unit comes with it's own female USB cable. In my case I ran the USB cable from the unit to my glovebox through a hole that was partly precut, I just had to push out the plastic. Hope that makes sense. To answer your question, if you only intend on using USB connection then yes you do not need the WiFi aerial connected, although in my experience it worked even without that aerial connected anyway, at just a reduced range.
@@WheelzonWheelsthanks for your reply. I’ve followed all the steps plus WiFi cable. However it keeps disconnecting the Bluetooth randomly and playing through phone. Any suggestions? Should I connect solely with WiFi maybe? Thanks for your help!
@@WheelzonWheelsalso the screen turns off until I reset every time 🫠
@@katelouisebagnall Hmm, I only ever used it wirelessly with CarPlay, I believe the Bluetooth connection is just how it initially pairs with the device. I recommend disconnecting Bluetooth from your original 'SEAT radio' car connection too, as this can interfere with how the unit works.
Where you based mate ?
Just bought the unit with the link you've provided. Where would you put the microphone??
@@John-pv5ri hi there, thanks so much for watching! I didn’t use the microphone, as it will use the cars original microphone if you don’t connect it (which is somewhere around the interior light I think). However, if you’d like to use it regardless, I recommend running the cable up the A pillar and place it in the top corner of the windscreen! Let us know how you get on 😀
Silly question but do you need to have the battery disconnected to do this? Cheers
@@Dipnchip98 not a silly question! Personally I didn’t disconnect the battery as there is little risk with working on these particular components, however it is advisable to not turn on the ignition with the unit in the glovebox disconnected as that may cause temporary issues with the screen in the dial cluster! Generally though not much can go wrong, but you can disconnect the battery if it makes you feel better 😊 Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks for watching!
Great video thanks
Looks amazing but my biggest question is the to do with the firmware. Does this unit ever get updates and if it doesn’t, will that mean one day it might not work with more up to date iPhones etc..?
The baked potato 😆
Hey bro could you please just let me know how the fuel economy is on these 280s, how many miles per tank, and mpg driving round town etc. cheers
Hey there! The fuel economy was extremely good considering the power it makes! I always got over 30MPG regardless, and on a long run I could get high 30's. The best I could get was probably about 350 miles to a tank, but often less than that, depending on how I drove 😝 Thanks for watching 🙂
Was it losing coolant as well from the expansion bottle did you have to top it up everyday? Have the same problem on MK7 GTI
Hi there! Yes a faulty/leaking coolant pump can cause coolant loss in the expansion bottle, it is VERY common on these platform of cars. It's highly likely you need to replace the waterpump and thermostat assembly. This video will be very similar to your MK7 GTI, so I hope it helps you :)

That’s a very low stage 2? Have a 280 my self stage 2 tuned running just under 420bhp with original turbo
Haha yeah, it had a valved cutout pipe poorly welded into the exhaust which caused a lot of turbulence. I since replaced it with straight pipe, but never got it dyno'd again. I reckon it would have made more HP after that.
Hiya Great vid easy to understand. The link you have provided for the product is out of stock, do you recommend any other similar? Thanks
Thanks for watching and for your kind comment! Ah that's a shame. I have updated the description now to include a new link for a similar item which should be exactly the same; I can't guarantee it but it looks the same to me :)
@ perfect Mate, thanks so much 🔥
Hello, it will work for me, I don't have USB or AUX, I have the US version with media in the input??
Hello! Are you saying you have an AMI port like mine in the video?
I want to follow up on this also , I have ami media in the glovebox and on the dash , do I just get ami to aux and plug it into the box and good to go ?
@@evandonelan9251 I think I understand, yes I believe if you just connect the AMI to Aux cable (link in description) to the AMI port it should give you the option for Aux in the Media inputs options, however I can't guarantee it of course. If that doesn't work for you, there is a option to "use original Bluetooth audio" in the unit's settings instead. :)
Do you have any recommendations on Axel stands and Jacks? There seems to be a lot of cheap rubbish out there!
Hello there! My jack is a Halfords Advanced 2 Tonne Low Profile Trolley Jack, and is by far the best jack I've ever owned. A little expensive and pretty heavy, but well worth it if you're going to make a habit of using it. I also have owned the cheaper Halfords jacks and they're not so good. The axle stands I use are the standard orange Halfords 2 Tonne ones, they do the job. Just don't get ratcheting ones in my opinion, get the simple ones that you have to manually put a pin through! I have updated the description with links to these. :)
Awesome video and thank you for all the information you provided. I do have a question . Do you lose any sound clarity compared to using standard bluetooth connection ?
@@Frapps thanks so much for watching and your kind comments! The quality is comparable to the standard Bluetooth connection; I didn’t notice any difference in quality. 😊
Great, thank you
Did the oil cooler solve the issue with oil in the coolant bottle
@@moali9316 yes indeed it did, although I think the issue was the oil cooler seal rather than the oil cooler itself, but I already bought it so I just replaced it anyway. 🤷♂️ thanks for watching 😊
Beautiful yellow! Reminds me of an old SEAT I used to see driving around the streets ;)
@@valenyt8377 haha, yellow is the fastest colour! Maybe not in this case though. Thanks for watching 😊

The USB-connection, is it possible to play audio from a harddrive?
I don't think so, but you can do that with the standard system with an AMI to USB adapter! Thanks for watching :)
Great video as I said in another comment. I put it up. I tried it and it plays fine. Now I'm in the process of getting it settled somewhere along with the cables which might be the hardest part. But why can't I on the call hear the person calling me? Also the messages that come to me for example on WhatsApp, when I click to read them, nothing is heard. And something else I noticed was when on the radio it only changes the stations 😁 Thanks a lot in advance for the answers!
Thanks for watching and for your comment! Not sure why you can't hear phone calls, maybe it is because you're still connected to the cars original Bluetooth? Try disconnecting the Bluetooth and try again. Failing that, try switching the input in "Media" back to Bluetooth, and in the new unit's setting select "Use original Bluetooth"
379 stage 2 that ain’t the best
That was when it had a weird broken aftermarket valve system in the exhaust, that was removed after the remap but never taken back to the Dyno. My bum dyno says it deffo gained a few horses after I sorted the exhaust out :)
@@WheelzonWheels yeh that would make sense
Thank you for this amazing instructional video! It was clear, concise, and very helpful. I just got a ami to aux but I can still only have the audio work when using the Bluetooth, what do I need to connect into the aux for the wireless option
@@pridenyoni8209 thanks so much for watching and your kind comment! You shouldn’t need to connect anything, you just just need to change the input to Aux on the “Media” screen. Also make sure the “use original Bluetooth” option is disabled in the settings for the unit itself
Hi, did you manage to use mirror link?
Hi there! Unfortunately I never tried it. The unit does support it, however I know it must be a wired connection to use Mirror Link, so I never bothered.
Hi, did you manage to use mirror link?
I’m afraid I didn’t try Mirror Link, but I’m sure it works just fine!
What cable do I buy for the ami port please could you help me
Hi there, it is an AMI to Aux cable. I forgot to put it in the description, I have now updated the description with a link for you 😊
My Leon doesn’t seem to have this control unit, can’t see on anything what form of unit I seem to have, can anyone shed some light on this? 2013 Leon 1.4
Hi there, where is the CD slot in your car? If you insert CD's above the radio screen, then this upgrade is not possible I'm afraid. :(
Great video, very informative👍.
@WheelzonWheels my mib is 3Q0035819A (Golf Sportsvan 2016 mk7). Will it work if I buy the one you have in the link ?
Hello! Great Video! Great Link! I have a Golf Sportsvan 2016 and i think it has MIB1, I would like to ask you, if i buy the one you have in the link, do you think it will play, will it work ? while in the photos it says MIB1/MIB2, in the description it says MIB2. am i wrong ?
@@nikolaoskortimanitsis1577 hi there! Thank you so much for watching and for the feedback 😊 the unit works for MIB1 and MIB2 so it should work either way! All you have to do is change the dip switches to match the system you have
no, you should not
why
I have no idea
Maybe a dumb question but will it work on a Seat Leon FR ST 2014?
Hi there, most likely yes! Just make sure you have a MIB unit in the glovebox, and it has the same 5.8" screen. Thanks for watching. :)
