not sure where i got some of this audio honestly. i think the v1-rotate-positive climb-gear up is a capture from an episode of Air Crash Investigations/Mayday, the gpws ones i must have downloaded ages ago and not kept the source. Dang. Good thing i don't monetise these things.

As Hyce would say: "Speed, power, beans!" One of my like ... 2 oopsies in this game was on this stretch of track. I had parked (dumped the air on) a giant consist on the hill going down and was switching things around, when I noticed it was running away at like 30 kph. I zoomed in my DH4 to go catch it, but decided it wasn't fast enough and broke my F key to get over anyway. I cracked the angle cock open to get it to stop, and switched to my locomotive remove to stop my DH4....only for me to turn around and see it barrelling toward me at 96 kph PAST the 60 speed zone. Some locomotives were harmed. Derail Valley is a horror game....
@@geyrnauch horror game is right, lmao. I've been jumpscared by my own coasting de2 when the fog gets real thick and also no terror compares to cruising into a yard at night in full fog and storm, set for a siding that you know must be empty, only for oil tankers to loom ahead...

I can’t ever fly shunt because as soon as I cut off the gladhands even with the anglecoks closed the detached cut just stops like the brakes are on emergency application.

Rails are also not necessary for trains to move, too. Try derailing without killing the engine, and use the throttle after full stop.

setting brakes to 1 bar (red needle on the top left gauge) doesn't do much at all - seems to need to be 2-3 bar to have any effect
yup! i usually only set to 1 bar in preparation to react to a higher brake demand ahead as the keyboard controls can be a bit finicky.
Speed limits are a suggestion. Its the high speed impact with the ground that sets the law.
i just want to say: you can brake faster by releasing the air out of the main air hose (just open the valve at the front and the whole train brakes), given the brakes are charged
@pufferknut5333 yeah, that's how i used to do it before handbrakes were added :> you need at least one handbrake fully applied to hand in a job.
Remember, going fast doesn't kill ya, it's stopping suddenly that does it!

Fun fact, what you showed is actually a specific kind of fly switching called a “Dutch drop”. The other is simply called “kicking”, where you push uncoupled cars.
I was gonna say the same thing but when I asked Google they said Dutch dropping is when you leave kids in the woods and let them find their way home to build independence

@@patriciohe9273 thanks! it was entirely spur of the moment, I'd planned for a stopover to pick up any cargo going the same direction but after the hill climb i was like "fuck it, i can still make the time bonus if i dutch drop it"
