Jake Cassman
United States
Приєднався 24 лют 2013
Jake Cassman's music echoes the raw energy of indie rock, the artful melodicism of power pop, and the thoughtful and vulnerable songwriting of the best Americana. And since he began releasing music in 2013, Cassman has embarked on a musical odyssey that has taken him to intimate venues and major stages around the country, drawing in audiences with electric, eclectic performances, and songs that make the intimate seem epic and the political feel personal. Equal parts California dreams and East Coast grit, Cassman returned to his home state after seven years in Boston, settling in Los Angeles in 2018. This year will see the release of his debut LP, Idling High -- a staggeringly ambitious and disarmingly honest record that showcases Cassman's wry humor, acute observations, and deep compassion.

Did u make this song???!!! If u did I need to know if I can listen to it on UA-cam music or Spotify!
I did! And it's on both! jakecassman.hearnow.com/walts
@ it sounds soooooo good!! Ima listen to it rn
lol I know it’s embarrassing to be out there where a lot of people can see you, but you know what? The people who aren’t nice just have some sort of problem! Don’t waste your time on dummies! (:
that's very kind of you to say! thanks so much
You got this screw what people think you're trying something that may be new so keep up the good work
Much appreciated! Thank you
Ouch
A bit rough on that "know"~ don't strain for the high notes, and use your diaphragm.
Ummm thanks I guess? Lol
@@JakeCassmanMusic That wasn't a compliment, it was just some constructive criticism. But yeah no my bad you didn't even ask for it 😅 sorry!
@morningivy I was being sarcastic
@@JakeCassmanMusic Oh, cool. I stand by what I said.
@morningivy nothing more courageous than standing by an anonymous content on a stranger's video
Do you have the full song?
I do! Not great video/audio quality, but if you want I'll put the whole thing up.
🔥 fire
i know right?! thanks for saying so
@JakeCassmanMusic it's a really cool version u made... I've been listening to that song and band for almost 30 years now. Thank you for posting it!
Ayn Rand would have torn you a "you know what". Ayn Rand:(By the way, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt because it's obvious you know of Ayn Rand's thoughts and ideas on Capitalism and Liberty, so maybe it's not ignorance but envy of the good.) Ayn Rand wouldn't have called you ignorant, but she may have called you conceptually stunted. But then again, being a soul of benevolence, she might have been kind and said, "One day, he'll understand. Hopefully, before it is not too late."
Ignorance beyond tolerance. Read “Anthem” by Ayn Rand.
Ayn rand is for incels
@ And cultivated ignorance is for imbeciles, as your post aptly demonstrates.

@@JakeCassmanMusic Typical--not reasoned rebuttal, but name-calling.
I gotta admit..... I dig it. I'm a GIANT Pumpkins fan.....as well as a 80s - 90s Country music fan. This is like a chocalate jalapeno....you don't think it would be as good as it is.
Thanks so much! Not gonna lie, I was bouncing off the walls when I started hearing this in my head
Why is this kinda fire?
A great song is a great song. Genre is a myth.
@@JakeCassmanMusic I actually have to agree with that
@@JakeCassmanMusic that’s super interesting but totally makes sense.
@@pickled8940 look how many artists from different genres cover different songs. Each with their own sound and interpretation of the song. It's proof positive that great songs transend rigid rules of music
@timothyplumb3106 I've got a whole theory about a great recording vs. a great song. A great recording can turn a mediocre song into a classic. A great song can be recorded in a million different ways and be great each time
hi mr.jake
Do you all have a cd? You're smoking it and I love it and want more
That's so kind of you! I'm going to be doing a vinyl pre-sale in a week or two -- you can sign up for my mailing list at jakecassman.com/free to stay in the loop
@JakeCassmanMusic you've got another follower. I'll be buying your 3 cd deal next Friday. Question how do you classifie your sound
That's amazing, thank you! I call it Americana power pop. The older stuff is a little bit more straight indie rock
Awesome! ❤
@MrGeek63 thanks so much!!!
M8, humor me here. I'm from Sweden so English is my second language but there's quite a difference in culture from the US. When you (and other ppl, most often from the interior states or Republicans) speak of the "media class", what group of people do you refer to? Don't laugh, but I've imagined a social class composed out of the 6,000 journalists working in the US - that's a meager 0.0017% of your total population! But I live to learn, please educate me 🥸
I appreciate the question - and your English is excellent! So, a few things. This specific video is about how media narratives are driving Americans apart from each other for profit. That media class, to me, is much larger than just journalists - it's influencers, politicians, commentators, and businesspeople. And while that group is proportionally small, they have outsized control over what we watch and learn and hear. They use that power to enrich themselves, dividing and conquering us along the way. This is ultimately how every society works, on some level. But as I'm sure you know, economic inequity is drastically higher in the US than it is in most other western countries, and I think our current predicament is a result of that. To be clear, I despise Trump and many of those who support him. But he is a symptom of a much larger problem, and that's what this song is trying to get at. Hope that's helpful. Thanks for watching.
Can I get pinned for first comment!!
Sure why not!
That's Awesome !
Thanks! Appreciate you watching
This one was great! 🤣
Thanks so much!!!
Just added this and a couple others to a playlist. Thanks fir the great tunes! Keep it up!

Thanks so much! And thanks for watching
Tf bro in 2024 but lives in 1890
Lol what do you mean?
I know tha feeling
It's not a great one 😔
I feel the same bro! I think it's cuz my father was the way he was with me an my brother growing up. I never really truly felt loved. Not saying I wasn't loved. I was, but when my dad would call me stupid. An idiot and all types of other names, s***, whore. That's what made me have "daddy issues" all my life. I came to realize over time. The then I was carrying his weight on my shoulders. Now that he passed away 2 years ago I do miss him. Don't get me wrong. I do. He's my dad, but things have been a lot different. I've been able to be myself more.I feel comfortable being myself. I still don't feel like I deserve true love from some other man in my life.Because any relationship i've ever been in has always been a very s***** one
I'm really sorry this happened to you Lisa - you deserved better. I'm glad your more comfortable in your own skin now, and that this song resonated with you. And yes, you deserve true love!
I feel the same way. Nobody loves Me and I feel unlovable 😭
We all do sometimes. But it's not true! Love yourself, and others will love you too
Trust me, you are interesting. Keep it real and don't be a movie character or you'll regret the attention
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching.
Damn, I like your style dude. Instantly added to my main playlist. Don't take that lightly 😂
Much appreciated! I've got a new song coming out Friday, and I'm giving out a free demo of it: www.jakecassman.com/free
Great job!
Many thanks Cato!
Gorgeous, love this song!!
Aww, thanks DG!
This is the most relatable thing ever
Let's go out and find it tonight!!
We've all been there,i feel you
Much appreciated
Branch from The Trolls movie, that’s the genre
I haven't seen it, and I'm not sure I want to know why you're making this comparison
Hell yeah man!!
😊😊
Great cover! Just learned this song myself notnlong ago!
It's good one isnt it? I have nostalgia for my old shitty apartments
Brother go to Christianshavn in Copenhagen they sell weed there
I went! They've actually cleaned up the drugs there, but it's still very cool
Hang in there buddy 😁
I dont 100% know what this is all about but im pretty sure they mean to host it on their webiste and stuff i think they are saying what they are saying and all that stuff prvided you have your own team and stuff also if they dont mean it like that well to be honest you oonky need a phone or make music and people usaly have thier own or if you want a diffren mic then the one provided on a phone its max 400 bucks so the most you would be spenind is 400 bucks provived you have a phone from befkre iwch you defenetly do
I am not a musician but it makes sense, nothing cost a zero,it cost almost zero for Spotify to run servers ,compare to money they are making…I socialist countries (used to live in one ) the government won’t let anyone make money, these big corporations are doing the same thing.take everything from everyone and ceo grabs a 200milion dollars a years salary -in stock options of course so he doesn’t have to pay taxes on it somehow…

thanks so much for the kind words! i'm putting out a new record soon, i'm giving a free demo to anyone who signs up for my mailing list -- mind taking a look? www.jakecassman.com/free
Been years since this video came out and now i see it differently than it was maybe intended. Everything has been going to sh*t since the 60s and we really should go back. Nothing has "progressed" and nothing will get better if we keep going down this road. The line never ends, nobody will ever be satisfied, so why not at least preserve what you have and protect it from those who hate you for it?
Definitely different than intended... Only a small portion of Americans had access to the dream of the 50's. Things are objectively better now than they were then by most measures (crime, justice, equality). I'm not sure what you mean by "this road," but the closest this country has come to collapse came while the guy who swore he'd make America great again was president. We can't look backwards
😎😎😎
