~ Since it is winter, I decided to put up something more recent from my vacation to beautiful British Columbia! ~I hope you enjoy the incredible views from the top of the mountain! ~ The last run I am on is called T-Bar Run, but since t-bars were closed, I got to it by traversing the Glacier Bowl from the top of The Saddle. ~ Stay safe! Bridal Veil Falls

~ To finish up the Manitoulin Island theme, I am sharing the footage from breathtaking Bridal Veil Falls! ~ I was destined to see these falls since at the very end of that year I became a Maid of Honour for my best friends' wedding! She also visited Manitoulin Island the year prior to me. She didn't have a veil, but I got to hold and fix the train of her dress as I stood by her side during vows...

~ Truth & Reconciliation Day Special! ~ On this first-ever Truth & Reconciliation Day in Canada, I prepared a video from my experience going to Manitoulin Island and getting into a storm when on board of Chi-Cheemaun. ~ This huge boat has a beautiful First Nations design on the upper deck, but since it was extremely windy and I was wearing a dress, my attempt to go up the stairs was not success...

~ This is to show you how a longer portage looks like when you do backcountry camping at Algonquin Park. ~ This was definitely harder for me to do this portage since it had some elevations and I felt the weight of what I was carrying much more. ~We did this portage to get to Hornbeam Lake on the way to Three Mile Lake to camp for the night. ~ There is a bit of a monologue in Russian and it is m...

    Eventually, you'll be putting on skid plates and changing to a contoured yoke. Too bad you didn't get an adjustable bow seat.

    What happened at the Saddle?

    • @Mooseincanoe
      @Mooseincanoe 2 роки тому

      I traversed across Glacier Bowl to do the T-Bar Run (you can see me skiing it at the end of the video where «credits» are). I think we did film traversing as well, but I might use it as part of another video :) Also, my hand got tired! It was my first time using my camera with pole attachment and I didn’t feel like doing a black diamond with tired hand. I did film myself doing some faster slopes, so will try to include some of that footage next time.

      @@zipperboy2008 it was open on that particular day and I had a few runs. It was nicely groomed, I found. The next day they put up “experts only” and “very icy, not recommended” signs, but I had to go down a few turns to get to my traverse trail and it wasn’t too bad! Lots of people with kids went on it. I loved the T-Bar run though, nobody went there and it had the best snow!

    Very nice boat! I am trying to decide between the asymmetrical Keewaydin and the symmetrical Prospector. Were there any deciding factors for you? Interested in using for both tandeming and soloing, so likely going to also get the 3rd seat option.

    • @Mooseincanoe
      @Mooseincanoe 3 роки тому

      Thank you for commenting and it is a great boat! We choose the asymmetrical Keewaydin option as it is faster on open water (we do paddle a lot across whole lakes on our routes), and it is more comfortable for the bow paddler, which is me. We rented a canoe last year from outfitters which was much wider at the front and symmetrical. I used to always hit and jam my fingers when I paddled just because of the way I was sitting, and paddling was difficult because of that. This canoe - I had not had an issue of smashing my fingers once. As for speed - this baby is so fast - we even beat the time suggested on the map as fast paddling :) Third reason -- we always do tandem. If you want asymmetrical with an option to go solo and tandem -- consider Keewaydin 16 Combi.

    • @murraymetcalf-CA
      @murraymetcalf-CA 3 роки тому

      @@Mooseincanoe Thanks for your response based on your hands-on experience with canoes. All very logical justifications. A couple of factors that perhaps might make me lean towards a symmetrical canoe would be if the front paddler was known to be heavier and if looking to canoe in bigger waves, since an asymmetrical shape will not have as much buoyancy in the front end. But I am certainly leaning towards the asymmetrical shape with the middle seat (Combi option).

    • @Mooseincanoe
      @Mooseincanoe 3 роки тому

      @@murraymetcalf-CA true, it is a little less stable on rough water, but we try to avoid paddling on big 🌊 waves. I hope that you choose the best canoe that would suit your needs! 🛶 Happy canoeing! 🛶
