Can you make a movie with a CHEAP camera?
Переглядів 2,7 тис.3 місяці тому
Sometimes I get caught up in a research mode - trying to find the best equipment to make better films/videos. New lenses, new cameras, new lights, filters all that kind of stuff. Collectively I probably wasted months worth of time focusing on the equipment more than my storytelling skills. I decided to test my own skills to see if I learned enough to be able to achieve cinematic footage with my...

MY FIRST VIDEO CAMERA: Great For Beginners
I didnt know this. This prevented me from buying Lumix cameras!
Did you settle for something else or have you been waiting for the solution? :D
@@Magic_Turski Yeah, I am on Sony and Sigma FP.
Crazy you didnt know this earlier. It's been common knowledge for quite a while.
Right?! I thought I was doomed! I hope that it is possible for lumix to fix the sound recording lag - it would be great to use external recorder with this camera.
it's been a while
What do you mean? 😅
@ since your last upload
Really? Just about a week :D
That helped, thanks!
I am glad! I struggled with it for way too long 😅
I apologise about the sound being so low. I think I messed it up when exporting.
Great video!
Are you the pewdiepie accent?
Possibly - I’ve been watching him since I started learning English, so it’s very likely I was influenced by him 😄
Ford hat goes hard
I forgot to say one tip, when it comes to working with smaller power lights: - When filming interior daylight scenes you can consider ND filter sheets to cover the windows and lower the exposure of sunlight coming into a camera sensor.
Again another great video! I think your on your way to becoming well know for these tutorials.
Thank you for your support! I really appreciate that! If you have any topics in mind that I could cover in the future, feel free to suggest! :D I am always looking for inspiration :D All the best!
Awesome! You totally answered my question. While the camera matters it is not most important element of narrative filmmaking. Loved the sketch at the start, very funny :0)
Thanks a lot for your comment! I am glad it helped! And I appreciate your feedback and support! :) All the best!
Great video
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Hilarious! not sure if it was a comedy but it had moments where I chuckled.
Thanks a lot! Yes, it was meant to be humorous :) From the approach, his DIY tools, to somewhat ironic ending. I am glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! All the best
Liked and Subscribed. 👍
Thank you for your support and welcome on board! :D
Oh my god this is so good
does it still work well
So far I have been using for almost every shoot and it does work well. The only issue I've had so far is the fact that when I connect wireless transmitter to send the image to director's monitor - the image is zoomed in. I am not sure what the problem is - if it's just my device or if it is a problem with all of them. But it does the job :) Better then camera screen for sure.
It definitely works, I have the older version of that camera the 550D still around somewhere. Art Direction, Lighting, Shot variety, costume & makeup all add up to create an good image
You are right. Art direction! Out of all, I think it might be the most important part of good looking shots.
That was actually pretty good <3
thanks a lot!
what f-stop settings were you using?
First wide shot that was cut out was f4.5. Everything else due to low-light I used f2.8
@@Magic_Turski Very interesting! I really like the intro discussing the concept of making a film in the first place. But yes, thats really good to know information. Doing these feats with the most simple or lesser tools we have available futhers our perspectives of what might be possible in life. So this is why the video is very very nice. You knew what everything needed to be and surrounded your movements around this. This reality based thinking and care is what makes this possible for the individual. Know the tools are there is the first enabler.
It´s important the marketing! Well...Joker...
My unpopular opinion - I really liked Joker: Folie à Deux :D
What camera setting and picture profile you used?
Standard profile picture nothing crazy, then: 24fps, shutter 1/50, iso between 400 and 800, aperture f2.8. Wide aperture helped me to keep ISO low, otherwise with a kit lens I would probably have to go over ISO 1600
This is great! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
great video !
Thanks a lot!
Opener was hilarious, the bit about The Creator got me
u just got a subscriber
Thank you for your support! :)
Why do you have only 100 subs? Your production quality, storytelling, lighting, and vision are top-notch. I hope you will achieve your goal if you continue like this. Subscribed and liked. I hope you will not give up and continue your pursuit.
I really appreciate your kind words! Thank you for your support! It means a lot! All the best to you!
That was great. Love that you emphasized the importance of lighting! In my humble opinion lighting is more important than the camera.
Cool
Thanks a lot! 🔥
Fantastic scenes! 🔥
Thanks a lot!
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🎥 love the cold open
I’m glad you like it! :D it was my acting debut 😂
Great idea 😂 👍
Great Video. 😂 Always interesting listening to people have challenges with S5 II AF… trust me it’s purely lack of time with the camera and which mode is best for what… and of course practice. It’s like the logic light 💡 has to come on and then you are good. The Color Matching 😂 Bro just buy Cinematch, VLOG is so much easier to color grade but software will match every brand in literally less than a minute. I still have my A7S3, I can get 97% similar AF performance with my S5 II & S5 IIX ( sidenote: I would never trust the tracking on LUMIX as of right now ). I use the LUMIX S Primes, 2 Sigma Zooms, a couple of Sirui Anamorphics and Helios vintage all L Mount. I do have the MC-21 Adapter as I couldn’t breakup with my Canon 70-200 EF or something Vintage intrigues me in the future. I think there is close to over 200+ L Mount Lenses, that narrative of not many choices for L-Mount… I think is the toughest of the misleads… trust me, I would have never moved from Sony if this was going to limited my lens options. Like all Brands each has its shortcomings so mileage may vary 😅. I shoot Events, love the image but my Sony just doesn’t stay reliable for me. What I will say, is I’ve shot Canon, BlackMagic, Sony now LUMIX… if a Brand causes pause in your confidence to create stay away from it. Great looking Project Bro, I’m going to subscribe, keep up the good work.
You are totally right, you can work around everything I mentioned in this video. None of these things were a dealbreaker for me. Color matching - either extra cost of a plugin or manually matching. Not a problem for me in the long run but I worked on a project where we used Sony cameras and my lumix for 3 days, so after that going through color matching was time consuming, even if relatively simple - had to be done. AF: I need to find my way around it. I just wish it was all like in Canon 200D 😂 just the most basic mode - AUTO - and it somehow knows always what you want in focus. This one is too complicated 😂 Lenses: I have access to some ef lenses - problem with using adapters is that if the aperture in the lens is controlled via camera then you are not able to change it. I failed ones when I forget to check it, I showed up to the gig with 70-200mm EF lens - I put it on with an adapter just to realize that it must have been set to f11 or something and there was no way for me to adjust it rendering this lens useless that night 😂 I know that it sounds like I am whining about all these, behind every point there are a few stories that made me remember those quirks about it. Thanks for your support! All the best!
@@Magic_Turski you not whining Bro 😂 the learning curve is slowing down your workflow (that’s a fair statement). Creating is all about being comfortable. I had shot multiple Canon & Sony and on the GH5 like forever, then a few projects with the GH6. Shot with BlackMagic and the the S5 II… so the decisions was based on a lot of shooting. I’m not a fanboy of any brand, this is where I’m at, at the moment & the result work for me and my clients. You mentioned Canon, those Cameras spoiled me with the easy menus 😂 but I have to live on a gimbal 😅. I tell people all the time, most issues are user error with mostly all Cameras 😂 if it doesn’t speak to you we as humans will get frustrated. If I didn’t have the time really spent with LUMIX I wouldn’t be as confident to see how powerful this Camera is, like Sony.. I did not like diving into the Menu to find simple stuff but I’m sure someone else would be like… oh.. that right here logically 🤣
I will check this stuff out! Almost impossible to create any animation without a storyboard!
I regret watching this video 😢
Great video
Thanks buddy! Much appreciated!
that double memory card feature is dope!
Very interesting stuff Man!
I'm glad you found it useful!
Damn, the dudes leaving comments are salty af. I think this was an well made video with valid points. It's the first time somebody finally says that the autofocus is not reliable, which was my concern with this camera. You have an awesome accent that's very similar to the actor in Andor. Keep creating.
Thanks buddy! I really appreciate that!
how is it the first time? literally everyone and their mom says the autofocus is unreliable. just generic youtube and instragram filmmaker stuff, nothing new 😂
@@kosovojealbanija74 from what I've watched everybody is saying that the autofocus is great now, not as good as Sony but great.
Storyboards used to scare me because i can't draw for the life of me. I'll be looking into this!
You should definitely check it out! At the beginning the navigation in Storyboarder might be a little awkward, but you will figure it out fast. And also once the scene is set up, is so much easier to shift the camera etc. Good Luck man!
Respectfully, some of these ‘issues’ you’re having with the camera such as lens mount, color matching and slow motion capabilities would have been factors one would know about before buying a camera. I’m about to get the S5iiX and after researching both the pros and cons I’ve made the decision to still move forward with lumix because (for me) the pros outweigh the cons. I’d also look into third party brands like Sigma who cover a wide range of L mount lenses. 🙏🏽
I totally agree. Yet I wanted to share it in case it is a dealbreaker for anyone. I never said that I don’t like this camera or anything like that. I always recommend it to others. I just wish it was a little easier. If you get S5iiX I’m sure you gonna be happy with your choice. These 5 “issues” have never been something that would make me regret this purchase. I’m just sharing my thoughts.
Wow, I’ve always struggled with storyboards, I’m glad this video popped up in my feed!
I’m glad I could help! Is there any other part of preproduction you struggle with?
I love when videos like this end up in my algorithm. I will definitely be checking out storyboarder, it looks super interesting!
LOVE IT
I am glad! Thanks for watching!
I will be remain till the 1 million . Remamber me
Would you leave at 1 Mil? Stay till the end :D
very informative! Love it!
Thanks Kyle! I'm glad!
I love that mini light - I need to get one!
The smoke machine is such a good tip!
LOL!
Popped up on my scroll page!
How do you decide the setting when you are using a ND filter?
ND filter works like sunglasses for your camera. You should use it only if your image is too bright for the settings you want to use for your scene.
