My introduction to von Stuck was purely casual as this summer I was stuck in Sofia, Bulgaria for a day and randomly passed by their national gallery, deciding to walk in on a whim. Coincidentally, they were having a von Stuck exhibition and I was able to see his works in person. I was very impressed with the Guardian of Paradise and Lucifer, they were so beautiful but mysterious as well. I've been wanting to learn more about him ever since and this video was great!

Good selection and well scripted, but without the 'sub-titles' one could never understand the 'muffled' and inarticulate voice-over of the presenter; he failed to 'enunciate' his words properly for anyone to clearly understand!!! Shame really!!!

Ten obraz to, moim zdaniem, jeden z najpiękniejszych, najlepiej namalowanych i także jeden z najbardziej poruszających wśród znanych mi dzieł. Perfekcja wykonania a zarazem prostota kompozycji i graficzny, "plakatowy" wręcz przekaz. Prerafaelici, może poza Rossettim, potrafili malować jak mało kto. Dziękuję za filmik!

Just Wow! You guys have done it again. Beautiful, insightful and immensely informed video. I've loved Rossetti for half a century, spent time at the Tate and in Delaware studying his works and am still enthralled by his life and work and this feels utterly spot on. I especially appreciate that you have included high resolution and color accurate images of many of his less known works. I would recommend this video to anyone interested in Victorian or Pre-Raphaelite art. Nicely done.

Hi it sounds like a lithograph, from what I understand the paper would have applied an oil or water repellent which would be the white space of the finished work, then the paper would have ink on it which would be the black of the work.
