More than 9 years after this video was published, the world still has no good and affordable solution to digitize books.
A tip: watch series on flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Quentin Matthias Yea, I have been watching on Flixzone for since december myself :D
@Quentin Matthias yup, I've been using flixzone for months myself =)
I want to buy this.
with out tourning book...hiw can we scan plz tell me....
Do you mean how can one scan a book without tearing the book? If so, you can find book and document scanners online. I think the best one is the Czur one although its a bit spendy at around 400 bucks.
Lmao. Was this a school?? I hear copyright lawsuit
PRE7000E - Martin Yale Commercial Quality Paper Cutter, about $800
Very helpful for unbinding my book. Thanks for the video ;)
Canon duplex P-208 , it's very easy for 100£
Hi! I'm creating a video on accessibility and online teaching for faculty where I work. Would you consider permitting me to use some screen captures?
The TOC is ALWAYS important. -.-
I can't believe she said "you can eliminate pages that are not important." That's the publisher's job, ma'am. Your job is to preserve the book.
do not try scanning your butt, the glass will break
I ran the book through a table saw with a plank of wood on top of it, cutting a quarter inch from the inside. No need for cleaning up shreds after. Less butchery as well!
Were the scanned texts selectable?
With a guillotine cutter you would have finished in 2 seconds.
you are right.....if you only have one book to do, then this is ok, but i have many, going to staples and have them use a guillotine
@MiamiGroove, This model is a Martin Yale brand, but there are others. Search for the following on Google or Amazon: stack paper cutter
nice voice.
After a book has been scanned into PDF, you can do optical character recognition (OCR) on the book using ABBYY Fine Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro (both are pay-for programs). OCR'd text allows you to search the book by keyword or export all text to computer text (ASCII). Also Acrobat allows page labels and J-PDF Bookmarks helps TOC If your scan had turned the book into multiple PDF's, you can combine them using Adobe Acrobat Pro, PDF X-change Pro, or another PDF editor program. Happy scanning!
What is the make / model of this machine and what is it called? I did a search for book binding cutter but found nothing.
Martin Yale commercial cutter.
Thank you! Ignore the morons, you did a good job!
We offer a service that cuts and scans books for you. It's really cheap and we do it fast for you with OCR options. It's fun to cut and scan books but we can save you a lot of time.
Wonder if you could use a table saw?
what's with all the angry people? It's a just a book, jeez! Some of us need to scan the book to use it again or use it for multiple people. (workbooks for students, for example). Get a grip folks. If the book means that much to you. Just don't cut it up. Problem solved.
@therockchannel100 This.
what should i do if i had to scan the original bible?
Thanks for fucking up a good book. This is exactly what I DO NOT want to do.
What we do is after scanning we use a thermal binder to make the book good as new
@octapendragon you know of any places i could send my book to and they dont cut it up?
Send the books to bookscan.us then you don't have to do this. It is only $1.00 for a book.
@johnhurt888 Yeah, but I would rather put some work into a unit than cut a book to pieces.
@sgtpepper1138 yeah no damage, but a LOT OF WORK to find, buy, and put all the parts together.
@geobnova Sorry, but this is the WRONG way to scan a book. that guy Daniel Reetz does it the right way. No damage to the book at all.
watch my video on how to cut a book. It's called "How to cut a book at home for scanning".
awww, can't do this with library books....
This is great. Thanks for sharing.
