All this clamor for drop-down visors is lost on me. Having ridden with a drop-down visor for a couple of years now I just don't find them useful and I've just fitted a dark tinted visor. It's very rare that it's so dull that the dark visor compromises my vision at all. My choice would be the Arai...as soon as they're on sale.
The design and interior of the NEXX helmet is top. ARAI "round" shape seems a bit outdated but the graphic are always beautiful.
Damn, wasnt expecting that overall choice. I bet the cardo was a massive choice involved in that decision 😅
In the market for a new lid so tried both of these helmets on last weekend. Can't comment on actual usage, comfort etc. but having ridden with a drop down visor for several years now, I wouldn't want a helmet without one. Provided the mechanism is reliable and the optical clarity and coverage are good, I'd argue that a really good drop down visor is a safety upgrade. No doubt Arai lovers will continue to cling to the notion that the helmet's safety is compromised, until Arai finally bring out a Tour X whatever with drop down visor, that costs considerably more than everything else, at which point they'll be raving about it. Can't knock either helmet tbh. Both are good quality items....hugely subjective, depending on your head shape, and what plays nicely with your bike's windshield. Brand loyalty should have no bearing whatsoever in helmet choice....
I have ridden with the Nexx all summer and it is the most comfortable helmet i ever had. I dont understand the problem you had with it being heavy in the front, and I have had no whistling from the vents. Just an overall excellent helmet. 😎
I prefer long chinstrap over short one. Then you don’t need to completely pull the strap out from the D-rings when put your helmet on/ off just tighten and slack it.
Unfortunately Ive learned that Arai ADV helmets just do not fit my head. In addition ive found a good sun shield is too useful to be without when switching between sunny open areas, and shaded trails and forestry roads. Arai believes such visibility is a safety hazard, Nexx has the best sun visor on the market by far. That silly placed nexx switch might take some getting used to Ive learned its the only sun shield design that never gums up, jams, etc.
No Arai believes that having any gaps in the shell to accommodate a sun visor is a safety hazard.
@@BachsRides Arai knows they cant make a hard enough shell to pass the outdated snell standard with a sun shield and chooses to give up visibility for that sticker. Plenty of helmets with a sun shield pass the far superior ECE 22.06 standard. Also having no sun shield lets them brag about a lighter weight.
The 50% price difference is "loudly" ignored... it is so relevant that you seem to opt to forget the price... the elephant in the room. I do not own either helmet so I do not have an opinion. I have had an Arai 25 years ago (Mick Doohan's replica), I still have it but unfortunately can no longer use it for obvious reasons. I loved that helmet. I have a Nexx X.WRL which is a great helmet but with some flimsy plastic bits that hold its interior together - no problems so far after 1 year but they do worry me. HOWEVER, with a discount, I bought the Nexx for a little less than 400€ and its price when it hit the market was about 500-600 and for that price.... well, it's probably a more compelling choice. Having said that, I imagine that if money was hitching in my pockets, I would go for the Arai. My point is, though, if you ignore the price difference, you might seem a bit biased. Thanks for the comparison which is, despite that, great.
one reason im still not going to buy Arai cause dont have sunvisor😂 i will buy nexx wed 3 this sunday cause have lot of accessories
Hermosos y excelentes los dos Cascos, pero tiene razón, el Arai está por encima, es espectacular... Lo tengo hace una semana y nunca había sentido un casco tan top
I had Arai before, far from perfect helmet, now shoes hornet, is much better and purchased the nexx xwed3 today
They've shortened up the Arai, my mouth nearly touches the chin vent. The old XD4 was a better lid and is more comfortable out of the box. The NEXX doesn't drop if you get the right size, feels much lighter once on, has the best drop down internal visor and the Carbon Nexx looks super. Is quieter than the Arai and cheaper. Quality internals make it more comfy. Arai fanboi's will love em, but the XD5 doesn't stack up against the outgoing model. The Nexx X.WED3 all day long until Arai upgrade their game.
exactly aria should change completely visor and peak mount.
I also noticed how short the X5 is compared to the X4. Won't be a deal breaker for some, but personally the Arai didin't suit my head shape as well as the Nexx, or Xlite X552 (another decent road-biased ADv styled helmet, comparable to the the X Wed 3)
You mentioned the Nexx whistled due to the vents yet it was still considered the quietest of the two?! The new Touratech Aventuro Carbon is just a priced up Nexx, they are the same helmet. I've long been an Arai fanboy, I tried messing around Klim helmets for a few years and left disappointed due to bad customer service and crap durability. I find the Nexx/Touratech intriguing but I have a feeling that I'll just end up a disgruntled customer once again and left coming back to Arai in a few years. Thanks for the comparison. I'll be moving to an XD5 next year when my current XD4 ages out.
to me personally ARAI should be better designed, I am with shoe hornet now-way better than aria
@@willianrincon7361 Yo Arai no comprare mas pk esta mal disenada. buffeting, visor system, peak..and now XD 5 aun peor quitaron ventilaciones..la verdad no!!! Compre nexx x.wed3 mas carne por el precio
Arai doesn't have a sunvisor though. Option that I like a lot, so I'll get a Wed3 !
Sorry but I disagree with you about the weigh on the front of the Nexx, I don't fell any of that. I like the internal visor of my Nexx for me it's worth the more weight .
I have the Arai Corsair X . Love it except the little brow vents built into the visor keep breaking. The visor broke at the hinge pivot too. Bought a new visor with new brow vents and halfway through the season the new brow vents have broken. They would probably never break if you didn't use the vents.
Can't even get the Arai 5 to fit its so short in the chin , the 4 was perfect.
I’m just 1 minute into the video but if I have to take a wild guess which helmet you picked, it’d be the one with the cardo on
Sorry mate, but after 2 mins everyone knows what's the preferred helmet.
me too, I purchased Nexx now with xcom pro. I had arai before and no..
@@michsky46 Is the xcom pro worth it? Does it have clear sound and microphone? The Nexx is not bad either, it a premium helmet as well.
@ well kinda yes, thing is paired w iphone, SIRI is dumb!!! Africa twin navigation should be better with AI siri
Carbon… is Carbon… !!
Can you indicate which one of those helmets is better for a long oval head
Good video. Cheers mate.
Do you have an opinion about Scorpion ADF 9000?
Good video. These are real lifesavers - did you hear about the issue of bags deploying on the Eurostar as the accelerometer picked up movement! Also think to make this more complete, you should have included tethered airbags in this review. Lower price point makes them much more accessible. Not as clever as these but price means more people will be encouraged to wear them. I can't get on a bike without mine now, feel uncomfortable, like driving without a seatbelt!
Thanks, you reminded me of the Oxford tank bag which I had quite a while ago and I think I'm going to get another one as they are indeed excellent, and that Beeline looks interesting.
