Living with elevated Lp(a) - a personal story
Переглядів 9 тис.3 роки тому
In this short film, FH Europe ambassador, John-Paul, explains his journey to diagnosis with elevated Lipoprotein(a) - or Lp(a) for short - and the value of knowing your status to seek appropriate support and treatment to lower your risk of cardiovascular complications
Hi
LP(a) is quickly becoming the most important factor for heart disease. LDL cholesterol is flawed as a marker for cardiac health. LP(a) management is the next big thing in cardiac health.
Randox in Ireland test for this in their wellness checks
I’m 94mg/dl 47 year old male. Is this bad?
Hi
Shouild be under 75 nmol/l....you can do the conversion math. But you're probably 50 points too high.
@@billblaylock3712 how to lower? Thank you
Tipp: do a LP-PLA2 Bloodtest, then you know your real risk.
Mine is over 600. Zero calcium build up and no found blockages. My total cholesterol is 375. I'm 53. Ladies, do your research. It's not as bad for us as it is for men. I do watch it closely and don't take anything for granted, but I'm not super quick to drastically lower it either.
Did you do ct angiogram
Hi
Hi
Hello. Have you looked into PCSK9 medication treatment? Take good care.
Follow the Linus Pauling protocol. Google it to learn about it. High vitamin C, lysine and proline and you will never have another heart attack or need a stent.
LP(a) is not a disease, it's made by the liver. You should look at sugar and inflammation markers to help.
Who says this is bad ? Any proof ?
So how did you lower it??
How high was his lipoprotein little a?

Hi I'm 61 years old and have elevated Lp(a). It was 403mg/l in 2012 and 400mg/l last summer. I had a scan and feared a dead sentence. However the outcome was quite positive. I have very litle to no plaque. Only 3% at my age have less plaque I was told. My cardio age was judged to 34-39 years! I'm quite healthy and my triglyceride have been low the few times measured, which should hint I'm metabolic healthy. Maybe that's what matters? Not the level of cholesterol or Lp(a)? I will not take any drug to reduce my Lp(a)
@@sniztecham 38 and have 77 mg/dl, have you done any cardiac CT scans? I have done a one and it shows 3 minimal plaques
@@abdulghanialmasri5550 ohhh, haven't done yet. What is your average LDL with out medication? What treatment options they said after 3 minimal plaques?
@@patriciawarmoth661how much lp ( a) you have
@@abdulghanialmasri5550how much ldl you had
@@sniztechhow much ct angiogram
I have a level of 1025, which scares me. I'm 36 and I've been told I cannot have a scan on my heart or arteries to check it's okay. Even the risk factoring (Q score I think its' called) doesn't take LP(a) levels into account. Is there anything I can do about this? Obviously I am working on keeping all other risk factors as low as possible.
lower your ldl c to 55mg
take aspirins to negate the thrombotic effect pcsk9i could help try to reduce inflammation we probably will have a breakthrough in 2025 hopefully there'll be a treatment then
oh apheresis also works and reduces it significantly if you can afford apheresis, go for it
Niacin reduces Lp(a)
Mine is higher than 2200 g/l
Well... all I can say is that I miss you dude, keep fighting the good fight.
This is amazing and thank you for sharing. I am currently in a Lipids class at my college where we are discussing topics such as Lipoprotein (a). Increasing awareness may be slow, but it is happening :)
