I know a dear man whose son died of cancer at 16... He goes to the grave every day. It's almost like a shrine I'm sad to say. To be out of the body is to be with the Lord. His boy isn't in the earth of that grave...

Many of my family members left their bodies to science but were Christians. After the research is finished the bodies are cremated and sent to sea. If a Christian is burned in a car or house fire he can't help that. Some ppl are clostraphobic and don't want to be put in a box. And yes, many just can't afford a burial. God knows where our remains are and where our heart is and our life circumstances. He can save us from anywhere.

The Bible suggested/guided/commanded us that we need to imitate and follow Christ Jesus' teachings and examples. Since Christ Jesus was buried and not cremated, it is nice to follow their practice. But in our time, if you honestly have no money or can not afford a burial lot and service, I believe GOD will understand if you cremate your loved ones... God's Power to understand "reason" is unlimited. But sin comes into our hearts if we have all the resources and means to bury our loved ones but instead cremated them because of inexpensive, practical, and convenience,... GOD will judge us, for that, and may probably lose all our wealth in the process. Burning Dry Bones in Ezekiel 37:5 are far different from Burning Dead Bodies for it has still "Flesh and Blood," that the smell of the smoke does not glorify/please the creator, God. That is why, GOD does not want Human Burnt sacrifices, and animal burnt sacrifices were also had to stop when Christ Died on the Cross. GOD thru the Angel had stopped the hands of Abraham from killing his only son, Isaach as a burnt offering. The smell of a burning dead body (flesh and blood) does not please/glorify God... Cremation of Dry Bones is OK, for it has no more flesh and blood.

The only prerequisite for the Christian is that God be honored in our death as required in our life. That can be done in a Christ-honoring manner as a post-cremation Memorial Service - perhaps even better than a graveside burial.

After spending your entire sermon arguing for a conscious intermediate state in Christ's presence, you summarize with a analogy to describe what we will actually experience during the intermediate state, which is unconsciousness up until our resurrection. Which I agree with, so thank you.

I was listening to you and wondering a couple of things. If we need to follow some Biblical actions, shouldn’t we have to follow all. What about the covering of the head at all times for women. Also, not one person during the time you are speaking about wore jeans in the pulpit. That would be totally unacceptable- even now for some people. Let’s remember- To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I pray for those who have had relatives who were burned in plane crashes or other fires and are listening to you. Cremation??: The Lord has complete control on the day you were conceived and the date n time n circumstances of your death. So, burned in fire to ashes, on the titanic, etc the Lord knows how He in those particular deaths that was directed by God in their walk...He will deal with it. There are/were many born again Christians who were brought to the stake for death because they would not recant the Word of God and Jesus Christ and those martyrs death by fire, etc brought Glory to the name of God and of "whom the world was not worthy." 3 thoughts ....that originally cremation was/is a pagan practice, the Bible study of just who was cremated and under what circumstances, AND the last thought that it was Hitler who used cremation to dispose of Jewish masses/millions....gives a long pause to a major thought... does God have to specifically, in black n white, forbid cremation for a born again Christian? If you say "Lord, Lord...What IF u chose the roll of your dice/decision for cremation....it may be His response will be "I never knew you." How would you know if the rising cost of burial is the world's/Satan's way of deterring what pleases the Lord and making it easy for you to decide for cremation to save $$. First, the final disposition of our loved ones remains should be done in love and respect according to examples you gave in scripture. I believe that CAN be achieved by either burial OR cremation. Secondly, I gave consideration to what you said about desecration of our bodies because they house the Holy Spirit. I had not ever considered that before, HOWEVER, since the Holy Spirit was given to us upon Salvation to be our comforter and guide throughout our lives, would He NOT vacate an earthly shell and remain with our spirit or soul when we depart our body? What would be the purpose after death for Him to remain? "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord ".
