Check The Engine Control Modual first. It causes alot of symptoms if it has fried capacitors or a burnt circuit board. I learned the hard way and replaced a bunch of stuff for no reason.

My 1995er same ford van when I bought it from the dealership it blew the radiator up the only thing that can do that is a gasket leave the dealer put sawdust in the water Reserve hoping to fool me but thank God it clogged at the hoes in the van it makes a you like a drain I got some of that real good gasket leak for $40 and put it in my radiator it don't use water anymore and I don't see any bubbles and I'm not feeling a whole lot of moisture out of the tell pot I would suggest trying that leak stuff before it blows up your radiator also blew out my fan shroud my Fe filter blue white gassy water all over my sister's 2021 Camaro that was following me it was one hell of a mess please try to put that gasket stuff in there so it won't be a gas up in that radiator and blow up on you have a good day

late reply but incase someone else has this issue, i had a stutter on light throttle, rough/fast idle, all kinds of crazy shit, changed everything, plugs, wires, distributor, egr, vacuum lines. problem is bad leaky capacitors on the eec (computer)

Check your EGR valve

I have a 94 e-250 it's acting like fuel filter is going out. After 40 miles it loses power and speed. If I pull over for 2 or 3 minutes its ok for 15 miles the does it again. Going to replace fuel filter and m.a.p. sensor. It runs like a well tuned machine and fires right up

UPDATE: I changed and tested many things. I read your comments and explored the solutions. In the end, the van did not provide me with any answers. I worked the problem so long that several families of mice moved in and began to cause other issues in my beloved van. I struggled with the decision but eventually I donated my wonderful van to a charity that supports jazz radio and musicians. It's been a year and I'm still sad but it was for the best. I wish you all the best of luck diagnosing this issue, it seems that I wasn't the chosen one who was meant to figure it out.

I know this years ago but it’s probably the fuel pump, or fuel pressure regulator, or never changed the fuel filter, or clogged fuel injection.... it could be all that and you might get a miss of lean code that doesn’t pin down the culprit

At 1:28 where your finger point need a vacine hose? And when you turn on the AC there is a vacine hose line to the onside of the van that hold the door open to get air from the top. If that hose busted thes effect the air to fuel mixture too lean. That tow point that says it's a AC hose that full broken?

For those with power issues I know an old school trick that works. You’re going to need a helper. While the van is running, pull the vacuum line from the brake booster check valve. Have your partner rev the engine to a guesstimated 1,500 rpms and stick your vacuum line into a quart of transmission fluid. Let it suck in a half of a quart a little bit at a time. It’s going to pour white smoke out of the exhaust pipe and your neighbors are going to think that your house is on fire. Let it idle for about 20 minutes and then test drive it. It should restore some of your lost power. Transmission fluid has detergents that will clean your motor and exhaust system. Good luck and keep that bad ass van performing in tip top shape!

I have a 1996 with the same motor that had the same problem. It was throwing a code for EGR valve. The problem was actually the vapor canister was stuck closed. I forced it open electronically with an ECM scanner and it runs great again. I hope this helps bud.

I've had this issue for 10 years lol never been able to figure it out. I took it to a shop once for something else and asked them to figure it out. They told me it was a bad wire and they fixed it. Van drove great for a little while then it started doing it again and has never stopped.

Did you ever figure it out? I’m having the same trouble with my 97 F250 HD with a 351.

Gas cap? I change mine it holes got plug. It’s not normal to hear a hiss as you open it. That mean your engine not getting enough gas as gas cap not vented.

Let Me guess the engine code is “left bank lean” it is either the little generator that sits atop the plug or the Fuel Injector. It probably isn’t the Mass Flow Meter.

mine was doing it and I changed all the stuff that you changed and after all that it ended up being the speedometer cluster and the speed sensor in the rear end

Fuel pump my bronco with the same motor did that just change the fuel pump it will run amazing
