thanks! to be honest, i never played on a plastic one but my bamboo one is really good. I think its important to just clean it every time you play, but other than that it's pretty durable.

@@arnannatan Hey, so I got the bammbo one and having a lot of fun. There is actually one big disadvantage - the mould. If it was plastic I would simmply flush it in the sink, but since it is raw bamboo I am not quite sure how to get rid of mould. Do you use any fluids for conservation or just wipping it dry?

Good to hear that you like the instrument! Me too:) chromatic tones are difficult sometimes, especially the tuning. You need to know the right lip pressure for every note and that takes some practice. But overall it’s very nice to play around with this instrument. Good luck!!

​@@arnannatanI'm currently struggling with the intonation part! I've been learning from your videos (especially the autumn leaves rendition - absolutely beautiful btw), and staying in tune with myself has been a challenge, let alone in tune with playback or other instruments lmao.

@@ldlukefire okay. Thanks ! It’s a challenge keeping any woodwind instrument in tune. I think that’s one of the most difficult things. But changing your lower lip pressure can help to find the right tune. Because I’ve been playing saxophone I think it’s easier for me to keep it in tune. But still, it’s a different instrument. Everything skill or art piece that is good/beautiful requires a lot of effort. I think as a new generation, we have forgotten that a bit. Keep practicing and be positive!

@@arnannatan Thanks for the reply and advice! I agree with your statement about art/effort. I've played guitar for most of my life and decided to pick up xaphoon to learn something out of my comfort zone. While it's been difficult, it's been very much worth it. Cheers!

It depends how you define ‘easy’ Nothing is really easy in this world. I you can already play saxophone or flute, it definitely will help you, but it’s a different instrument for sure. The key is practice your fingers, mouth and ears and find good teachers to help you.

@@arnannatan in turkey. İ am not sure find teacher for xaphoon. I played blocked flute at highschool and really enjoyed. Wanna try xaphoon for jazz tunes

I would say: buy a Maui xaphoon from bamboo. To play in tune is not easy. Depending on the pressure with your lips you can change the pitch but it shouldn’t be more than a half step I think. I use tenor reeds 2 or 2,5 for the xaphoon. But a saxophone is more complicated I think. Xaphoon should be easier since you only can play one octave and a bit more. What do you mean with a new mouthpiece ? because I don’t have a external mouthpiece for the saxophone. Hope this helps.

Okay. It’s hard to tell for me. Sometimes it’s the reed. It shouldn’t be too heavy and not too light, but that’s personal preference and you just have to experiment with it. It also depends how much pressure you give on the reed. Every note needs a different pressure to get it in tune. At Last, It can also be your instrument. Hope this helps

Newbie here too. Heard on another channel to play one single note... Hold it as long as you can and while doing so... Experiment with the issue on the mouthpiece/ reed/ fingers/ how far in and out of your mouth it is etc. Until you are happy with how best to get the sound you want
