Allen Bradley Studio 5000 Programming
Переглядів 145Рік тому
A little trick I learned WAY too late in my carreer that has saved me so much time while writing ladder logic. This is the easiest way, in my humble opinion, to write rungs in Allen Bradley Studio 5000 and I default to it alot of the time. Sorry for the left only audio.
C-More HMI Programming
Переглядів 6 тис.2 роки тому
This time I dig a little deeper into the functionality of the C-More HMI. We talk about the event manager and ways to deal with some more complex problems that you may come across. HMI programming is a blast and with these C-More HMIs from Automation Direct, you can accomplish alot without breaking the bank. They're very powerful screens.

I give you an introduction into programming the Productivity Series PLC from Automation Direct. We touch on a little of everything and a whole bunch of nothing.
Beginners Guide To Programming An HMI From Automation Direct
Переглядів 12 тис.2 роки тому
I give you a brief introduction to programming the C-More HMI from Automation Direct. I'll show you from scratch how to set it up, and how to get it connected to a PLC. You'll get first hand knowledge from someone who uses these every day and has been using Automation direct products for almost a decade. Be sure to check out the amazing products that Automation Direct offers. C-More EA9-T7CL-R ...
Do we need to write down the tags separately for the HMI in the plc program? I'm using Siemens PLC and Cmore HMI, there's an error showing communication timeout PLC001. I mapped the tags like start stop directly with the HMI.
My daily carry is an 87 V MAX, I also have a 116. I like Fluke. I have a hard time justifying a $1200 meter to troubleshoot 2-10v or 4-20ma once or twice a year for HVAC work.
@HVAC559 absolutely!
Thank you
Thanks for the video. It is so hard to find up-to-date info on the C-More HMI software. I struggled with getting the PLC and HMI communicating. And making and using the right tags for HMI internal tags.... But, one thing I'd like to know more about is building the diagnostics and alarm screens. The alarms are extremely hard to understand in the productivity suite software. But I'm slowly getting it all figured out. (Hopefully), don't quite understand the HIGH.HIGH / HIGH / LOW / LOW,LOW stuff. I saw you have the picture of the whole PLC and INPUT/OUTOUT boards and was able to make screens for each one. Do you need to import those images of each component? Then, associate them with a different screen? I know this video is a year old, but maybe someone can shed some insight or link a video with some info. That would be great!!!! Thanks again!
For the IO screens I just imported pictures and put a button behind them. Alarming is very application specific. Shoot me an email and I'll try to help you out. rogerdyer75@yahoo.com
Are these HMI’s compatible with the P1AM-100 and P1AM-200 productivity open arduino compatible CPU’s
That's a very good question. I've got one, let me try it and I'll let you know.
Awesome let me know and thank you.
Would you be willing to answer a few questions? I’m doing my first brx/cmore/sure servo 2 project
I'll do my best.
@@controlsfreak6328 do you have an email I can send a question to?
Winders are a challenge. Great job. Thanks for the insight.
Yes they are! Thanks for the comment!
A most interesting video. Web windups and let-offs can be a real challenge. The C-More HMI is very nice and much cheaper than Rockwell's. Anyway great job. 🥳 Thank you.
my 88 is around 30 years old and the first one I still pick up.
The 88 is a great meter for sure.
You can also do mnemonic programming with Keyence KV Studio, Mitsubishi GX Works 2 & 3, and Omron CX Programmer.
Most manufacturers have the capability. I know the Click and Productivity Series from Automation Direct have it also.
Thank you for your great explanation. I have multiple Automation direct DL 405 cpu PLCs running on Thermal converter, Pyro-oil processing and waste water treatment systems and recently I incorporated C more 6inch, 12inch and 15inch panels at each location and one more at the main office. Your video gave me many help learning somethings that did not saying on manual or other UA-cam. Great help and look forward to have a communication for the future large project development. Regards
Do you have any videos concerning Web Access examples, or App Access to only certain buttons, say like jogging.
Not yet, but I'll put one together!
Making the background data live was ingenious.
Thank you! When they pointed it out to me that the data froze I was dumbfounded, I had no idea. I won't say that the solution was obvious, it took a little figuring out, but it worked.
Great video! Thanks! I have subscribed. I have an upcoming project setting up a HMI to an ancient SLC500... Hehe! The existent PLC program is twenty years old, and documented about as well as Mayan history, and probably in the same language. But we do know the goesintas and goesoutas so we may be able to pull it off. Gonna start with a one button 'auto' to 'manual' switch as proof of concept. There are no tags so I will have to find the Inputs and Outputs on function observation. It will take a while. I am going to use a C-more, probably the one in this video. Automation Direct has always made me look smarter than I really am. Don't tell anybody. I am retired, but guys like us don't ever really retire... We just consult off into the sunset.
Have you worked with a Nextion display?
Can't say I have.
Hi, this is a great video for those who really want to learn C-more panel programming... small projects example like this can simplify learning.. . I am taking the opportunity to ask a question. I am doing a project using a DL06 PLC with a CTRIO module in it. I scaled the quadrature of an encoder input to be displayed in a c-more panel .. I am getting the scaled value in V2000 and V2001, but do not know load both values in the RLL in order to display it in the panel ... could you help me with some tips in how to do it...thanks so much in advance...
Thanks so much sir!
Happy to help. Thanks for the comment!
This may be a dumb question but at the 6:37 mark you are putting in the IP address of your PLC correct? I am also struggling to connect my PC to my C-More, I manually changed the IP address to one that I think should work - I'm still confused about how IP addresses work exactly this is all a new world to me. But I am not even getting the option to select that device, I tried a variety of different IP addresses but can't seem to get anything to work. Do you have any ideas? I am seeing forms saying it may be something with my firewall. Thanks
I Can help you with ips
Good work. Your a great educator thank you.
Glad to help. Thanks for the comment!
So, the PLC I have setup is communicating to the HMI (Shows when lights are ON). The HMI receives info from the PLC but the HMI does not seem to send anything to the PLC. For example, START button on HMI does not turn anything ON on the PLC, tag names are matching and as BOOL data type. The physical START button works fine. Any idea why it doesn’t work?
What brand of each?
Allen Bradley CompactLogix and EA9 HMI. Found the problem though. Turns out that even though physical start button and HMI start are supposed to do the same, they can’t have the same address input. Actually, for the HMI start, the address created in the PLC needs to be left blank, the names and BOOL are the only ones that need to match with the HMI tag name to work as an input.
Typically I'd convert my physical input into a bit and then that bit can be triggered from the button or the HMI.
Do these screens work with Allen Bradley Micro800 series’s PLC’s?
Yes they do. Sorry for the delayed reply, I somehow missed your comment.
I struggle a bit with recalling all of the command abbreviations, but I see a lot of value here in time savings for the ones I can remember.
I don't remember them all either, I put a little cheat sheet together and laminated it for the ones outside of my normal everyday use stuff, but it'll definitely save some time! Thanks for the comment!
That was me that replied to your comment, but I was logged in on my other channel, thanks again!
Great video. I've been working on C-mores for a few years. I like these panels. There's a shared properties feature that will let you change common attributes on multiple objects at once. (Think all keypad button font size at once) Liked and subscribed.
Thank you! I still don't understand why we buy PanelViews when these are out there for less money (ALOT less) and better availability! Some people have drank 55 gallon drums of the Rockwell kool-aid and they just won't stray! Thank for the comment!
Thanks, I just started a few months ago at a company that uses almost exclusively Automation direct DL06s on Directsoft 6 with mostly Cmore and some Red Lion HMIs, I came from 2 years at an integrator that did all allen bradley. If you have any programming tips (or links to tips) for going from studio5000 to Directsoft6 I would greatly appreciate it!
I appreciate the feedback, unfortunately I'll be ZERO help on the DirectSoft side. I can give you all the Productivity, Click, C-More, and Do-More tips you want though!
There's no need to open the tag DB to select a tag, simply type it in and it will predict it. If you do go to the tag DB there's no need for the double click, just single click and click OK to close the DB. Tag will be selected. The pop-up is for manually adding tags and it's non-closure feature is nice. When using bits of word in C-More the tags need to be created manually, not having that close after each one speeds up the sequential process. C-More involves far too many clicks, but these seems avoidable with the right work flow. The all caps is a complaint, it also wrecks the find and replace. There's a few threads about it and the more folks that jump in there, the sooner it may get fixed.
I appreciate the insight, I was unaware that you didn't have to click apply. I'm aware of the predictive typing feature, just trying to gear this toward beginners. There's a few things I'd love to see changed, but they're still awesome panels with every feature you could want.
Big fan of AD, especially the Productivity series and C-More. After dealing with multiple generations of Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, Panasonic, and every other line at Automation Direct; I think Productivity is by far my favorite programming environment. The C-More's are incredibly capable, especially at the price point.
I default to the Productivity Series on everything nowadays! There'll be plenty of upcoming vids on them in near future. Thanks for the comment!
@@controlsfreak6328 I also now use them for everything. I'm glad they haven't been hit nearly as hard supply chain wise as everyone else yet. Most of my backorders have been within a month so far, except an 8 port Stride switch that took 6 months. Anyway, happy to up the engagement on this content, I'll try to share it around!
I'm still waiting on an 8 port Stride lol!
I just used a couple Click pluses paired with the new GS10 MicroDrives and it worked out really well.
@@controlsfreak6328 I'm not a huge fan of Click, but I can see where they have their place. I haven't used one in a couple of years, but the software felt very limited at the time. How are the GS10s? I have 2 15hp GS20s that are supposed to show up this week, but they're going to be glorified soft-starts. I have several GS1s that just run small conveyors, and a few of the GS4s in everyday use. Have you tried the SureServo2 stuff at all?
Are you familiar with the ATLAS HMI's from Automation Direct? Does it use the same software? Also thanks for posting!
Oops... just seeing now that the ATLAS are monitors, not HMI's
Correct, they're monitors, but they're touch monitors and they'll work with the C-More Headless HMIs which do use the same software.
SOME are touchscreens.
Very informational!!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the comment.
