As a kid, my most fond memory (of the food) at Mauna Kea was going to the Batik room and having a chocolate soufflé for desert. The best. I still think about it 30+ years later!
My first trip was in 1988 and have returned so many times that I stopped counting. Hoping to take my son in the next few years. He would be the 4th generation. It is a special place. There is no place like it on earth

I have been going to the Mauna Kea Resort since I was 7 months old. My grandparents (Steve Keefer, you might know him) have been taking me, my family, and my cousins for 12 years. Every time I go I’m not disappointed and it is the most wonderful time ever. From the food and restraints to the beach and rooms everything here is perfect.

My father was a tile man who was finishing prepping the pool when Rockefeller walked by .He came back sat down and asked questions about the floating and tile setting process. My dad said after 15 minutes of friendly talk and questions Rockefeller stood up smiled and said “well I guess you know what your doing “ with a chuckle then waved and went to inspect another part of the hotel. My dad was always impressed that he took quality control into his own hands.
