I was denied absolution at confession earlier this year. At 58 years old I didn't know that happened. At the time my girlfriend was divorced and we have been dating for over 5 years. I'm widowed. A week later I went to a different priest as part of a retreat prep. I was absolved. My girlfriend's (ex)husband then died suddenly and she is "eligible to marry." So now she's my fiance. But still, I was surprised on the "no bueno" on absolution. The first priest was at a very traditional Abbey. I don't hold a grudge against him. The second was at our parish. So what percentage of penitents are not absolved?

I buried my daughter. We took her to the country town in Victoria Australia where my ancestors were born raised and buried. It was 100 miles from the church where my I had been married and my children had been baptised and taken the other sacraments. I advised the priest from the country town that because of the distance we may all arrive on the dot of time. There were so many elderly coming from Maldon and many young people from Melbourne. As soon as we arrived a young priest started walking up and down,in an agitated way complaining the he would be late for lunch with the other priests from surrounding districts. As every one had not arrived on time and the priest had just murmured a couple of on scripted,words of condolence. Suddenly I had a surge of strength I asked to leave immediately/.
