Hammerax Indigo 16" crash cymbal. Three holes to accept rivets, but I like it as it is. Fast decay, splash-y. Not as thin as it sounds.

Amanda Palmer and Jason Webley brought conjoined twin performers Evelyn Evelyn to the Edinburgh fringe festival. They became somewhat upset during this song and had to be comforted with a Twix. They recovered enough to sign my snare drum afterwards :)

Four chorale settings from the Matthew Passion: Erkenne mich, mein Hüter (Receive Me, My Redeemer) Ich will hier bei dir stehen (Here would I stand beside Thee) O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden (O Sacred Head Now Wounded) Wenn ich einmal soll scheiden (Be Near Me, Lord, When Dying)

Que lindo!
Bach continually refers to Jesus Christ as mien Jesu and dear Jesu. His inspiration was Jesus Christ. Bach and his miraculous gift was given to the world at the start of the "enlightenment" . Men of science take note.
„Jesu bleibet meine Freude“ und „o Haupt voll Blutbild Wunden“ sind für mich die schönsten Stücke, die Bach komponiert hat
This was the progression used by Paul Simon when writing Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Each setting is beautiful as always
A great meisterstuck.
❤
Eines der schönsten Lieder die es gibt. Mit einer wunderbaren Aussage. So Wunderschön gesungen🤍🙏
Amen.
So schön deine Worte 🤍
My eyes are full of tears...so beautiful and emotional.
Simply almost beyond words. Im transcended to another Realm. So staggeringly moving.. Wow...nuffsed!
American Tune 🇺🇸 🎶 Paul Simon
In the Lutheran church that my family attended 60 years ago, we sang a hymn in English to this old melody. I love the old hymns! There is a certain resonance that stirs up deep feelings of solemnity and piety. The new hymns don’t do that for me.
Castelo forte é nosso Deus, refúgio e fortaleza.
I used to sing in our church choir and knew all the hymns by heart, and learned these German words which I would sing when everyone else was singing in English! 🤭
Repent and trust in Jesus. He's the only way. We deserve Hell because we've sinned. Lied, lusted stolen, etc. But God sent his son to die on the cross and rise out of the grave. We can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Repent and put your trust in him. John 3:16 Romans 3:23❤😊❤❤
1:55 o haupt
Paul Simon American Tune brought me here
He didn’t know he was borrowing from Bach until someone pointed it out. It’s quite forgivable! Amazing that Simon managed to reproduce all the chords just from an old memory.
absolute perfection <3
Magnífico, !!!!!!! Toca a alma profundamente!!!! Parabéns ao Coro e ao Maestro . Bravo!!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌. Gratidão!!!!!!
Paul Simon borrowed this from Bach for American Tune (1975) Bach borrowed it from Paul Gerhardt (1607 - 1676) Gerhardt borrowed it from Hans Hassler (1564 - 1612). Paul Simon's song American Tune is actually a 400 year old German tune. Like those who arrived on the Mayflower, the melody came from Germany and became an American Tune.

What is the name of this chorale? These singers? They are fabulous. I’d love to hear more but I don’t know who they are. Please advise.
These are several chorales from the Saint Matthew Passion.
GOTTES REICHSTEN SEGEN
"Through metaphor to reconcile the people and the stones..." If there really is a god. Outstanding!
it's a beautiful tune, for sure. but without trying to cheat hassler out of the credit fo that, the point of this compilation was sorta to demonstrate the different harmonisations. but i do find it interesting that, while Bach is my favourite composer, two of my very favourite of his works have melodies not written by him: both this set of chorale settings, and also the 30th Goldberg variation, the quodlibet. anyway, yes, i agree with your points
...hermosa armonia hermosa canción hermosas voces...
I wonder if they believe what they sing. For sure one of them does not believe 1 Corinthians 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
Difficult to fathom that Bach was relatively obscure for more than half a century following his death. What a genius was this master! How exquisite so many of his melodies, and this one is no exception.
It was an era without recording equipment and printing was a manually taxing endeavor. Because of that music wasn't really a permanent thing and not conducive to immortality. To the best of my knowledge Bach was during his lifetime by the standards of his time but society just wasn't set up to preserve his work.
This tune is actually older - Hans Leo Hassler ( 1500s) "Mein Gmut ist mir vervirret" ( My mood is confused ) - and slightly changed by Paul Gerhardt (1600s) into the hymn "Oh, Haupt voll Blut und Wunden" ( Oh, head full of blood and wounds ), which Bach would then adapt for this masterpiece. Later on this wonderful tune would reappear as "Because All Men are Brothers" ( Pete Seeger & Peter, Paul and Mary ) and in Paul Simon's beautiful "American Tune".
@Bjowolf2 Wow. Great piece of previously-unknown history. Really appreciate your sharing this❤️
This melody is not by Bach. Many of his chorales he stole it from Luther, who stole them from the nearest pub. "Why should the devil have the best tunes"? Here is the Hassler version mentioned above ua-cam.com/video/zoBPaSNr9QU/v-deo.html

Hello! Where i can find this lyrics?
The ads do intrude on the music in an unpleasant way. Unfortunately, because I don’t own the copyright to the performance, I have no way to switch off the adverts: google automatically inserts them and presumably gives a tiny percentage to the owner of the rights. But to be clear *I* didn’t switch on adverts to monetize this video…
Just beautiful 🌟
I could possibly become a Lutheran after hearing Bach’s music!
This Bach hymn from both my childhood protestant church hymnal and then its appearance (just for me in my teens!) in the Matthew Passion seems to have formed a bedrock of reverence for me and for so many others. Recently I found this theme again in Simon and Garfunkel's 1973 song American Tune. I hadn't heard Simon's brilliant song of lament and weary hope in many years and I immediately heard the Bach at its center. Now in 2022, this most durable and supremely balanced Bach Chorale provides solace on its own and as the core of the revisited American Tune at a this time when I and our fellows sorely need it. ua-cam.com/video/ZCmgKSUXH18/v-deo.html
🕊🌟🕊 This is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL 🙏💜🙏 💜🎵💜
The depth of passion slowly surely takes over the heart!
This is Amereican Tune by Paul Simon.
Is this American Tune?
American Tune is based on this melody. It's originally by Hans Hassler, and was written in about 1600. I think bach did a pretty good job with it here though :)
Beyond lovely.
Liszt sent me.
Esecuzione fantastica coro meraviglioso.
4:30
extraordinary, isn't it?
The final harmonic progressions are otherworldly.
Incredible use of dissonance.
there’s always something about how Bach uses major seconds that i can never quite fathom. I mean he prepares and resolves them the same way other composers do... but somehow they just sing more. but yes, especially in the last excerpt here, it’s just so intense - tortured and yet somehow hopeful. just beyond compare.
Qta beleza.
Such a pleasure to hear such a WONDERFUL rendition 😀🎼
