Fuzzy set Qualitative Comparative analysis - October 2024- Bournemouth University
Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) is a set-theoretic and asymmetric analysis technique that was initially developed during the 1980s to analyse complex social and political conditions with small number of cases. However, applications of fsQCA are not limited to small sample size, but extend to large datasets in different disciplines. In an asymmetric approach like fsQCA, the aim is to explore how various combinations of independent variables generate specific levels of outcome(s), for different groups of cases. These combinations of predictors can be categorized as sufficient or necessary conditions based on number and ratio of supported cases.
In this workshop, the basic definition and component of fsQCA, necessary steps to perform this asymmetric analysis techniques and combination of this techniques with partial least squares - structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) as a symmetric approach will be explained. The main resources for this workshop have been the following papers:

PLS-SEM using WarpPLS 7.0_ (Session 4)_Moderator Analysis
I recently watched this video and found it to be incredibly helpful and informative. The content was well-organized, covering each topic clearly and thoroughly. The explanations were straightforward, making complex concepts easy to understand. It was a valuable resource that provided both practical insights and relevant examples, making it perfect for anyone looking to deepen their knowledge. I would highly recommend it to others who want to gain a better understanding of the subject.
How to write the matemathic equation of PLS Regression? Where can i find the number for the intercept
Thanks Prof.
Sir can you please share the data file used in the webinar..
Thanks for your excelent explication..
Dear Mr. Mostafa Thank you for the video. If I have greater than 1 outer loading (e.g. 1.3), what should I do? The VIF is less than 5. Thank you
Dear Professor... Greetings from India Keep posting.... You are truely motivational to young researchers..
thank you so much prof
Thank you so much sir.. which software is better for Business and Management; WarpPLS, Stata, or R ??
thank you so much prof
Dear Dr. Mostafa, would you mind to upload your presentation slides? I would like to print out and do some side notes. TQ
Dear professor, thank you so much for delivering this amazing tutorial video. I have a question, what's the acceptable value for Original Sample in mediaton analysis?
Thank you dear 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Nice
Thank you so much Dr., thats a very insightful session. Looking forward to more sessions please
appreciate if you could give tutorial of fsQCA on UA-cam. thanks.
Thank you very much Prof. Was just watching your previous vedio on moderation analysis. Plz keep sharing sessions like these. So that many students like me who couldn't participate directly can keep learning from you. Hopefully it will be another informative session like the previous ones. Thanks again.
I think there was mention of a book chapter (in addition to the pls sem/fsqca paper), but I don't see the reference in the description. Does someone have the reference? Thanks
Sir, can u share the references for the using of two stage for all types of indicators, both all reflective or mixed with formative. I need it sir. Hopely u can responsme me...thx
Thank you so much for the amazing lecture.

The published article is interesting read. Yet it was not clear if Standardized or Unstandardized Latent Variable Scores were generated and used. smartPlS-SEM v 2.0 used to generate both but only standardized are available through v 3.0 and higher.
It is standardized scores.
@@s.mostafarasoolimanesh7567 Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it.
Insightful session. thanks, profs.
thank you very much Dr. Mostafa for this amazing workshop. I have a question I hope I can get an answer from you. the results of my PLS-MGA for gender are all in red, the same results you run in the video. in this case. is there an issue in my model or my groups? because previous literature shows that male and female has different results. how I can interpret the results in this case?. I will be very grateful for your reply.
Red results mean, there is no significant difference between two effects.
@@s.mostafarasoolimanesh7567 thank you so much for your reply prof.
Dear sir. Greetings, I have a query regarding MICOM analysis. In my study I have considered the trading experience as categorical moderator. As a prerequisite, I checked the MICOM. Out of 9 constructs 2 constructs are failed to fulfill the criteria of compositional invariance. Here . I would like to know. How should I proceed further? Thank you
You need to check the item loadings of problamatic construct from two groups data, and remove an item with highest loading difference between two groups.
Such a great workshop for starters. thank you
thank you very much for this interesting session
interesting and informative session about mixed methods. thank you, Dr. Mostafa
Thank you for this amazing explanation Dr. Mostafa
Very informative thank you so much dear Mostafa
thank you very much for this insightful session
thank you Prof. for this amazing workshop
thank you very much for this amazing workshop, I have a question prof. F2 in my study is less than 0.02 which is not acceptable, even sometimes I have a significant path coefficient, in this case, do I have to reject the hypothesis?? I have 8 Hypothesis 6 of them have F2 less than 0.02 showing in red color in PLS, which mean 6 hypotheses are rejected, and only 2 are accepted, is that ok?? or this will cause me an issue in my thesis. I will be very grateful for your reply.
A hypothesis with very low f2 can't be accepted, even it is significant.
@@s.mostafarasoolimanesh7567 then how to overcome this issue prof.?
thank you very much prof.
thank you, prof. for this informative session
Clear presentation. Brillient.
thank you very much for this amazing session
thank you for this insightful session
thank you for this workshop
Sir, I watched most of your videos. If you kindly share some tutorials on fsQCA analysis using panel data that will be very much helpful. Again,Thank you sir for your greatest knowledge sharing.
very informative thank you very much
that was really helpful. thank you. but I think there is a technical issue in the audio that precedes the video.
informative session thank you very much prof.
It is a great session. Your simple lecture effectively helps me to learn. Sir, if you kindly explain the last part more deeply it will be very much helpful. I did not understand the last part due to speed lecture. Thanks
Very informative workshop, thank you so much prof.
Thank you so much for sharing, Mostafa and Fevzi! I am using your video for my class!!!!^_^
If data continously show the singular matrix problem then what we have to do how to overcome this problem
It is because of issue in your data set. Please check SmartPLS forum.
this was so informative and useful. thank you DR.
very informative thank you
Sir can I use moderation separately for all my 7 hypotheses instead of PLS MGA..?
Yes, you can. But, you need to do one-by-one.
@@s.mostafarasoolimanesh7567 I didn't get you sir....will you plz elaborate? Do you mean 1 moderator on 1 relationship? While doing so, shall I remove other relationships from the model..??
@@Shravan1231000 No, you should not remove other relationships. Keep all relationships, but include moderator for each relationship and run the model.
