    6 months since the last episode. Guess they figured out it was a fool’s errand to document the growth of a city that doesn’t grow. Maybe document Tampa if you want some good content.

    A city winery like in cities like Atlanta and Chicago would be nice as well and lots of jazz clubs. Husband and I are thinking about relocating so the changes that's being made is good to see. Savannah, Ga downtown use to be jacked up 20 plus years ago before I moved, now it's thriving and the nightlife vibe is great.

    It’s sad that Jacksonville is excited to get a new apartment complex and a grocery store when other peer cities are building 5+ high rises a year. We’re pathetic in comparison.

    You people, sometimes, no....most times make me sick. Go back up north and elsewhere that you come from and quit ruining our city, my city, and my state. You can stay as long as you don't act like or pretend that you're "running everything," as most of you do. Be nice, or, go back home! And oh, I do like your videos; they are very informative.

    Florida doesn't have a state historical tax credit like most states have along with federal tax credits for historical buildings over 50 years old which would definitely be a big incentive if if Florida had that especially for affordable and market rate housing.

    Can you do an episode on how zoning laws prevent variety in the types of buildings that can be built downtown which hinder the growth of small businesses? A business should be allowed to thrive without minimum parking area laws stopping them.

    Anyone who lives in Jacksonville can tell you that the area around the NoCo Center and the North Core in general is like the hub for the homeless and panhandlers/loiterers. Best of luck trying to develop that area. You’re gonna need it.

      Guarantee it's not as bad as those in Miami and it doesn't stop development. Of course the best way to get them to move on is make it unprofitable for them. Don't give them anything if you don't want it around.

    Nothing, I repeat, nothing will ever become of downtown Jacksonville until they get rid of the Sulzbacher Center, The City Rescue Mission, Trinity Rescue Mission, Partnership For Homeless, Clara White Mission, New Life Inn and all of the homeless bums and drug addicts who are being bussed into downtown by out-of-state NGOs.

      @@funtowatchmedia I left Jacksonville for good back in 2001. The downtown area of the city was hollowed out in the 1980s/90s by the Baptist Church who bought up several old buildings on full city blocks and turned them into parking lots. At the same time they were staunchly opposed to any and all things entertainment related like clubs/ bars/ nightlife/ festivals. Hence no real development was allowed to happen during their 30 year reign. Have you ever seen a city the size of Jacksonville with such an empty downtown? Why no museums? Why no shopping district? South bank where the property featured in this video is located does have some potential be it limited but South Bank is not downtown. Jacksonville's homeless population has exploded over the last couple of years and downtown has become the epicenter due to all of the services being offered to the homeless/ bums/ drug addicts by countless organizations along with a bunch of NGOs who only make the problem worse. There is no fixing downtown. I am not interested in connecting with you on this issue as I live outside the country and I only visit the states (Jax, FL) about once every three or four years. Best of luck to ya.

    • @Euphoryaaa
      @Euphoryaaa Рік тому

      @@robertdominicanrepublice homeless bums is caused by the very Baptist church that you’re complaining about. What do you think happens when growth stops, inflation rises, and people get pushed out of their homes? I’ve spoken to many of the so called “bums” you complain about and some people have told me stories about downtown Jax used to be a Harlem of the south and thriving Black community. The bum problem will decrease once there’s more businesses and job opportunities, affordable housing and practical public transportation connecting the downtown area. What we don’t need is more gentrification pushing locals out of their historic communities. One of the root problems of this is zoning laws. Zoning laws are the reason the only buildings that seem to get built are luxury buildings which drives up the prices around the area. We don’t need just luxury buildings, we need more parks, 3rd spaces, skyway hubs/stations, open air trolleys, fresh marketplaces, shaded pedestrian sidewalks, bike lanes, and community gardens. Also some multi retail space buildings that build vertically wouldn’t hurt. And more businesses with rooftop views!

    I love the idea of revitalization of this neighborhood. However, I worry about the racist hate control in the government in Florida right now. How many people are going to feel welcome? How many businesses are going to pack up and leave because people are being targeted? How many farms are going to collapse because there are immigrants together the crops. All these play a key role and revalization and livable spaces. We have to start with the government to build a welcoming environment for everyone
