In this video, Freddy demonstrates a common problem that brass players experience: tension in the tongue and throat. In addition to explaining how this tension can creep into your playing, Freddy also provides an exercise to work on creating an efficient tongue arch that is backed up by Orofacial Myofunctional Therapeutic practices.
Happy practicing!

Hope you cleaned your horn after that.
This video showcases some sloppy and amateurish playing. The counting technique is completely off, with the player struggling to keep in sync and frequently missing the beat. Their timing and rhythm are poor, making the whole performance sound disjointed and uncoordinated. It's clear this player lacks the necessary skills and practice to execute this type of rhythmic pattern cleanly.
Bro I'm absolutely trying this on horn tomorrow 👍🏻🔥
Not an algorithm, I’m your actual subscriber. Plus Freddy is my idol.
Trombone (and valve trombone) player here. You guys really deserve more views man, your videos are so well made. Cheers from Brazil
Love this ❤
Why not the nose? Can someone explain? I was considering to try to switch from mouth breathing (cause it's not very good for the health), to nose (considering it's faster theoretically)
You people actually voted for this corn puff🤣
You have to be bloody kidding me. Where did this guy come from?
watching this as a mello/horn player
I am so tempted to play this for a concert, but my school’s band program would get shut down😂
I've noticed that I play with a ton of pressure, but I cant really make myself not without double buzzing, or just generally making the sound terrible... also a ton of pressure in the neck
❤❤❤❤
LOL great arrangement!
All of those tips were spot on, but another tip is to think of those "high notes" as low notes. Atleast think of them as the middle of the register, does that make sense?
Bro i play sax why am i getting this recommended
😂
Solid music, but that leap…yeah, save that stuff for Beethoven’s 5th in the trombone section.
banger
How did they know? Well time to go I guess
We forgot the mushrooms Gromit!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Very good joke...
No two octave leap? Tell that to whoever picked the Texas all state etudes this year
I would practice but I already did about 3 hours today
do you have any tips on keeping good tone quality when playing in a softer dynamic?
Try it the other way around😆
Yo, what's the name of the piece please ? Thanks for sharing
it’s misty, originally by erroll garner
Misty
1e&a >>>>>>>>
nailed it dude! 🔥
I would practice, but it’s almost 11 and my whole family is asleep 😂
Practice earlier!! Or buy some mutes 🔇
Thanks for the help, it helped a lot, I’ve noticed it’s been getting harder for me to be as good and this is doing great at making me better
I watch this video for help but I can play 1 note above him
I literally just got home from my final High School Band concert, in which I played this exact peice with 1 other trumpet, my brother on trombone, and a binch of friends on tuba, French horn, and euphonium. After a regular concert, jazz concert, and alumni concert, this peice and Gusty Garden Galaxy were some of my last scores I got to play. Thanks UA-cam
Just got back into playing trumpet and was looking for some new trumpet channels to watch. Glad I found this channel and I hope to see more!
This is amazing. Just found your channel from a friend. You guys play amazing music and make hilarious videos. Thank you. And yes, as a trumpet, We do this. If we squeak a note it’s just the valve that got stuck. Not skill. The value.
YES DO THE 12 BAR BLUES COUNTOFF
As a trumpet player, I can 100% confirm that we do this😂
Same I know this pain
This isn’t just pain, this is torture
Shapes
This really shows off the arrangement of their theme a lot better!
Hey! Do you guys have a website to purchase sheet music? Your arrangments are great and i would to use/purchase them!!
So that tips will finally lead me to quad C (above 7kHz), like the famous recording by Marc van Cleave? Honestly, I'd be very happy to have comfortable double C. I even reached double C about an quarter century ago (only on good days barely), then stopped practicing completely. Now I'd struggle with anything above high C, if I'd try again without practicing.
Sounds amazing 🙏🏽
The mad lad actually did it
Thanks for the upload on a playthrough ! I was playing this nightmare and now i see this 👍👍
It’s like most drumset parts No composers know how to write drumset parts so the way that u read them is look at the part Find style Ignore written part Play style and road map
If you're gonna do that anyway can I just put in comp marks and cues for hits
@@chair547 100% A common thing i see on jazz charts is like quarter notes when it wants swing and it’ll say to play a swing beat, Another common thing is to see other instruments parts so that u could join in on it and play those heavy hits At the very least if u write a rhythm in the middle line it’s kinda meant to be played like that These were all things i’ve seen in parts like how high the moon arr nestico, and cannonball run Edit: another common thing is composers leaving specific parts that they want a fill to build up into a new phrase or even just to end the phrase
Something i did in my set part was say, “slight improv” on a part that was just 16th’s on hihat because it was supposed to push the band forward and keep the tempo at a good speed(160ish) with snare drum playing the eighth notes and shaker playing sixteenths as well If u can take inspiration from existing parts than I’d suggest looking at frozen since the set composition is beautiful and same thing with some jazz charts like feeling good and how high the moon arr nestico
Only real trombonists will know that the trombone part was the best.
2 octaves is not that bad if you practice it, Music for Prague has a fast section that's two and a half octaves and it's still very maneagable
I love playing this price, you guys make it sound nice in a quintet
I recently played the David Concertino for trombone, and the third movement has a two octave jump between Bbs. It was fun to play because of how fast the piece moves.
