Hi, this is Greg. I do a little of this and a little of that. I do some drone videos, photography, DIY home repair and maintenance ... and so on. My interests are pretty varied. Hard to say what will turn up here next.
I do a lot of things my TA wants. That's my personalized Task Assigner; we've been married quite a while so she's pretty good at what she does.

2024 Corvette C8 Z06 Z07 Rear Bumper Removal and Carbon Fiber Upgrades
After taking delivery of his 2024 Corvette C8 Z06 Z07 and driving it home from Kentucky to Arizona, my buddy next wanted to attack all the areas the carbon fiber package didn’t address, because as all you Corvette enthusiasts know, there are still many areas without carbon fiber! Today we will remove the rear bumper and replace three items with the aftermarket carbon fiber parts he ordered. Our goal is to share our experience and lessons learned with you and hopefully, if you want to do the same thing, perhaps make it just a tad easier for you.

A while ago I published a video on how to DIY replace a non-working wifi card in this laptop. I was so focused on the wifi card, it took a person viewing the video who placed a comment to draw my attention to the battery. @Marsman512 posted, “Is the battery in that laptop alright? The local Lexus dealer's service department recently charged my wife $500 to change the engine oil, oil filter and brake fluid on her 2015 RC350 F Sport, then they recommended a front brake rotor and pad replacement for $1,500. Hi, your video is really helpful ! My refrigerator is same as yours and same issue for the lights . There’re 4 lights in the freezer compartment and 6 lights in the fridge compartment, shall I replace any one of them? Thank you so much! ! !
I’m having the same problem. Thanks.
Hope it helped!
Great video very informative love your spec
Thanks!
Thanks for the video! I love how in depth you go
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sweet video! Great job.
Was air conditioner a Goodman?
They're both Lennox units.
Any info on who made the carbon fiber front fascia? I ordered one from AG Motorsports for my 2020 C8. I paid the Chevy dealer $200 hr. to do the install. They said the cameras wouldn't fit in the holes. They kept falling out and if they forced them in the cameras wouldn't align. So they put the stock part back in. They charged me for 2 hrs of labor and I'm where I started from. Sigh.....
Sorry that didn't work out for you. I've chatted with my buddy the car owner and he had some advice. He said almost all the OTHER parts he used on his 2022 C8 were AGM, and he didn't realize they had a front fascia until after he ordered it from Jogon, which is what was used in this video. He was fairly unhappy with the AGM parts; bad fitment, thin carbon fiber, easily breakable. The Jogon part was a little better but still needed adjustments and customer service. Even so, the cameras were never quite right. Since this video, he has traded in the 2022 C8 and got a 2024 Z06. I have a video of us doing some carbon fiber on the rear bumper of that one, and he used EOS parts for that, and the rest of the car too. He feels EOS is the best of the three, but even though he feels it's the best bang for the buck, it's still not OEM and nobody's perfect so there were still adjustments to be made. He's much happier though. He recommends: return your part to AGM with the workorder from the dealer stating it didn't fit and get your money back. Try the EOS part in the link in the description and see if that works out better for you.
@@hangtime_31 Will do. Thanks for the reply.
hello fellow Arizonan. Cool car 👍
Hey, thanks!
I hope everyone enjoys the video! It was fun doing the project, and I highly recommend the CF diffuser as it looks amazing :) If anyone has questions about the install or the CF itself feel free to ask
They try to rip me off by charging me $800 to do my rear brakes which is even cheaper at the dealership. It is so ridiculous and they are brand new brake pads. I don't know what they did. Just can't believe that they went off with customer service and rather Rob the customer blind
Hello! I’m currently doing a high school project on Arizona Monsoons, can I ask where this video was located? Just the general area or neighborhood is good. Thank you!
Hi! This was in northern Phoenix, just south of the town of Cave Creek. Good luck on your project! 👍
"Task Assigner" - haha! I love it!
Great video! Love the "TA" analogy 🤣🤣🤣
Glad you enjoyed it!
Terrible. No corner shops, no parks, no playgrounds and no schools or entertainment venues within walking distance.
Really?
Of my 6 lights only 4 were completely out - the other two were dimly on. I replaced the 4 lights that were out thinking this would fix the problem but now all 6 of the lights are dim… any idea what my problem could be?
I was pretty lucky in my case I suppose, only one at a time went out. In your case, I would continue to troubleshoot, perhaps move one of the new ones over to the other two lights that were dim, one at a time. If none of that works, there's a control module that could be the culprit. Did you see the note in the description about calling KitchenAid and asking them about their Technical Service Pointer bulletin? You might get lucky.
I bought the cpl filter and had to take it off a few days later. It reduced the glare but yhe rainbow effect made take it off. Wasted my money. However, I then find out its becasue i have tint on my windshield. So now i just deal with the reflections as the rainbow effect was much worst.
That's a bummer. When you installed the filter, did you adjust it by spinning while watching the video to "tune out" the glare?
Do you know if there is a desktop control option to where I can just control the app from a website page on a computer? Read you can but can't figure out how to set it up. Where I work I am not allowed taking my phone inside
I would love that myself, but I'm not aware of anything like that, sorry!
i have the 4Kwifi, i downloaded a video, the video plays back 0.5 speed. just faster then normal speed. how do i make it normal speed?
good work doing this on my 2015 RC
Glad it helped! 👍
Not the same Inspiron I have but i suspect my wifi cars is not working.. when I check it was overheating and when I connect wifi through a cable (my laptop has lan jack) it doesn't work either what gives ????
A wifi card will normally get a little warm during use. It's super hard to diagnose stuff without being able to put my eyes and hands on it, but ... if the wifi card was fried, then plugging in an ethernet cable with a reliable connection to the internet should bypass the wifi card and hook you up. I did this when working on this particular Inspiron in the past in order to get internet while waiting for the new wifi card to arrive. I would make a mental checklist of things to check and verify, then start going down it until I hit on the problem. Good Luck!
Great video ... super awesome sense of humour. Love the step by step. One problem I continue to have is difficulty setting up the app with my WiFi. So much problem. I'm waiting for a call back from the support team.
I hope they are able to get it sorted out for you. Thanks for your comments!
@@hangtime_31 I did it with help from the internet. It appears connection is easier when you turn off 5G a d use 2.4. it's all working now thank you.
Good job. I have been around cars a long time. Here are my thoughts. Use brake parts cleaner on most of the components. If the rotors are coated, follow the manuf. guidelines. Go a bit lighter on the brake pad lub. Less is more. Add a small amount of lub on the hub. Rears on many Lexus require a parking brake procedure. Replace the big bolts (one time use) on caliper brackets. Take the slide pins out and clean well. Use a high quality lube on the pins. I really like Mission Auto Dielectric Grease/Silicone. On the pins it's important to hand tighten until snug- then only 1/4 turn more. No tighter. Tighten the lugs a little more before lowering. Once on the ground the wheel can be crooked. It will still click but could be off. Absolute best bet is to do as I say, then drive it, then retorque. When breaking in the most important thing is to drive at highway speeds for 10+ minutes after your last hard breaking cycle. You never want to park the car if the rotors are very hot. That is how they warp. Less likely once they are fully broken in. Nice lift and overall very good job. Nice attention to detail for the most part. Car looks clean too.
Thanks for watching, and appreciate the detailed advice. The rotor instructions specifically said Do Not Use Brake Parts Cleaner! So we didn't. Thanks again!
@@hangtime_31 I just did front rotors on our Lexus too. It was coated and I did use the cleaner. I probably should not have but they seem fine. They are now shiny metal. Has your dull finished stayed in tact? I could imagine it wearing off over time and braking. Ours had not rusted yet but it's only been 2 weeks. No big deal if it does. It's iron so fairly inevitable. You did a great job and saved a lot of money. Thanks for posting.
@@MOAB-UT The coating is intact except where the brake pads make contact. I'm hoping the coating will keep the rust at bay, and braking action will take care of it where the pads are.
@@hangtime_31 Ok, thank you. Arguably, that area that the pads make contact is the most significant and most important part. In that case, I don't feel so bad for having cleaned mine with brake cleaner. If the main surface area no longer has protection, that coating is little more than marketing hype. Funny though, the area did not come off when I sprayed it. Only after driving so I think it is from the pads to. Not so sure I want all that coating embedded in my pads. Initially stopping power was ok, but not great. I think it's better now. Did you experience that too- almost like the rotor was more slick? Whatever that material coating is made of can't be beneficial to braking. I would take grip over a little rust.
@@MOAB-UT Yeah, the coating under the pads is designed to be worn off during the break-in process. Before that was completed, it would make a nasty rubbing noise if/when you came to a full stop. Once the pads and rotors were fully broken in and the coating was gone, the brakes performed as expected.
The Unishim works better !
Life Saver! Had one out in my freezer and then the rest all went into dim-mode. Called Kitchen Aid and they are coming to replace the modules. Saved me some money (even though I did buy a new module on Amazon), ill have a backup! Cheers!
Excellent! Keep the blue side up! 👍✈️
For one the wheels are torque to spec so they are not ridiculously tight. 2 if you are replacing rotors with one piece rotors instead of of the 2 piece rotors that it’s supposed to have it’s going to be cheaper of course.
One piece / two piece rotors? The OEM ones we took off seemed to be one piece but I'm not a mechanic so I'm not familiar with what you're talking about.
@@hangtime_31 the f sports mostly come with two piece rotors hence why it was 1500$ for a brake job …. I can see you installed cheap one piece rotors on there.
@@josueramirez-gt5ny hm. The early worn out OEMs seemed to be in one piece when I removed them, so that's why I don't understand what you're saying.
@@hangtime_31 please search up what a 2 piece rotor is and then hopefully you’ll understand why it cost 1500$ to do front brakes
@@josueramirez-gt5ny Are you talking about two rotors separated by an internal spacing for cooling and such?
Why buy a luxury sports car then complain about dealer prices????🤣 Go buy a toyota and go to jiffy lube!
His aftermarket rotors will make noise in 6 months
That's a whole nuther can of worms. I trust the dealer to (usually) do it right, but they're unnecessarily expensive since they have to pay for that nice waiting room where they make an omelet for you. I trust Jiffy Lube to be cheap, therefore more risk of doing stuff not to spec. I'm at a spot where I'll either do it at the dealer or do it myself so I know what's been done to it.
@@josueramirez-gt5ny Doing quite well so far, thanks! In the "for what it's worth" category, my neighbor said he's had really nasty squeals with the ceramic rotors on his new Corvette and his wife's new Audi, so I guess it's all a mixed bag.
@@hangtime_31 yeah because they have performance brake pads it’s normal to have brake squeal from factory.
Mine had no cover either. A mouse got in there and literally had its head decapitated and burnt to a crisp along with wires and the contactor.
Ugh, installers. This spring I helped a neighbor with his A/C spring cleaning. He lives one street away. We have the same builder, same model of home, even. Checked his capacitors and cleaned the units. He also had one of his contactors without a cover. I gave him one of mine from my spares. I'm wondering why the installer is taking them. Looking for future repair calls? Did you replace your own or hire someone?
Great video!👍I am fascinated with land development & building process. I'm here in Tucson, would love to know where in Phoenix this is, so I could get an idea of what each home sold for. Because doing the math, just to break-even on the cost of the land ($20million), the developer would have to sell each of 39 homes for $512,820 - again, that price would be to just to break-even on the cost of the land, nothing else! I would imagine each home would have had to sell for a cool million to even come close to making a profit!
Out of curiosity what method is best for disposal of the swollen battery.
@kjm-ch7jc Our local Home Depot has a lithium battery drop-off, and it goes into a steel container, which seems safer than anything I could do. So ... that's where we take our old lithium batteries. Thanks for watching!
Why isn't there a notification when you open the computer that your battery is "swollen?" Or there is a problem with your computer battery...
I totally agree, there should be technology built into these batteries to detect and alert you very early when they begin to go bad and start to swell. It's a fire hazard, it needs to be addressed. Thanks for watching!
All rechargeable batteries have a life limit unfortunately….. It’s a good catch you made there and it shows how one problem can lead to another seemingly unrelated..👍🏻👍🏻
i have never found a good Lexus Dealer DIY is the way to go.
We had a pretty decent Lexus service advisor when we first bought the car - then we moved. Now it's a bummer, the new one seems to want to slam us for everything. Thanks for watching!
We both go to the university of UA-cam. That's where I learned how to change a clutch in a mini cooper lol
How are the new brakes? Getting any squeaky noice or dust so far?
Brakes are good. They started to get a squeak after a week or so, but a run through of the break-in process got rid of that. Been great ever since then. Thanks for watching!
Hii I hope you can see my comment, I have a dell inspiron 15 7570, I opened it to clean it and after i put it back together the wifi disappeared, this happend to me before a while and i had to change the wifi card, now this happened to the new one too i don't know if the problem is with the antennas cable or something else and I'm really frustrated I can't use my laptop without wifi and I'm tired of wasting money on it.
Thank you for the kind comments and choosing the shop with us! This is a very informative video for anyone looking how to identify signs of contactor failure and performing a replacement.
Hey! I never thought you'd actually see my video! This was a great learning experience for me, and now that it's over, when (not if) an A/C unit goes out and it's the likely capacitor or contactor problem, I feel I can get it online again very quickly, then just order replacement spares for the next time. July in Phoenix is NOT the time or place to wait three days for an A/C tech to show up! Your website was THE best for finding what I needed, a lot of precise technical specs and OEM parts made it an easy choice for me. The next time I need parts you are my new "go to" source. Thanks for watching! 👍
Thank you for your help with this project! The cornice looks really good and fit. Perfect that is until my wife or my TA. Said hey, why don’t we move it up just a little bit so light can come through the bottom……… My thought was aren’t we building this so light doesn’t come through? Didn’t they measure it to cover the whole window? So I would say a thorough coordination with the TA is important!!! But of course like all women they’re allowed to change their mind at the last minute after you’ve already built it to the exact size they told you to.😂
Our fan turns itself off. It may run for 10 minutes or I hour. This just started.
Your rear pads looked like they are still good. Did you just change them because you installed the cross drilled rotors?
Yup. The TA wouldn't have been impressed if they didn't match!
3 years? too long.
You can literally see the difference between the driveway and walkway. Nice job. I love it
Right? Thanks for watching!!

Did you add shim kits to The pads? My brakes are squealing
The shim kits were included. If the pads start squealing, the instructions that came with my kit said to run through the break-in procedures again. Hope that helps!

@@harborareatech310 Hey, got a question for you. I'm in a couple of Lexus RC groups on FB and several of us have a situation like my TA has - she might only put 500 miles on her RC in six months, but the manual says change at 5k miles or six months, whichever comes first. Seems silly to change the nearly new oil at 500 miles in six months, but what would you say is a good guideline in her case??
@hangtime_31 According to the manufacturer, the oil change on RC-F is required every 5k miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. For the regular RC models, it is required every 10k miles or 12 months, whichever comes first, but even though the manufacturer states every 10k I recommend to do it every 5k or 6 months whichever comes first. If your vehicle is only driven 500 miles in 6 months, I don't think it would hurt if you don't do it right away. I would say drive it more! If you can't maybe once a year would be fine
Excellent video and great summary of the trip! For those non-Corvette people the 500 mile break-in moves the RPM limit from 6600 to 8600 and increases both horsepower and torque available to the vehicle. The Track-Wrap wasn’t very pretty the way it was installed, but it did exactly what it was supposed to do it protected the vehicle from a significant amount of rocks and bugs!!!
Thanks for the info!
