Come Join me at the Sawmill on the Farmstead! Where there is a small farm to maintain on a peasants income. I own two compact tractors, and a few poor man attachments for the 3-point hitch. I will be demonstrating the things these small compact tractors can do, pushing them all the time. Woodmizer LT 35 HD Portable sawmill I will be showing some tricks and some hints on; wood cutting shortcuts, all on a very small budget. There are ways of doing most things on a farm with limited money. There is a small woods on the property with plenty of deer. Come join us for a day at the farmstead, disc golf or just a hike. This old Trail Was not producing last year, and it is not going to produce this year either. The Whitetail deer have just stopped using this trail. I need to do some squirrel hunting for sure, But just not a good area for the deer these past two years.

Lots of Fox Squirrels in this video. I have never noticed the amount of acorns in the trees in this area. I think the squirrels are burring them and the deer are digging them out of the ground and eating them ? What do you think? Lots of does walking the middle of the woods is a good thing. These does will bring in the Whitetail bucks for sure. Lets Name the Squirrel " A. Corn" seems to fit wit...

Game camera in the Middle of my woods on a Pipeline. The clearing on this pipeline is a nice place for a game camera. Lots of movement through this area, White tail does move through this area and that will hopefully bring the bucks when the rut starts. The coyote move through this area also. Just a nice area to see the movement of the Whitetail bucks.

That’s such a nice clear video. What cameras are you running?
It is actually a very cheap old camera. But with todays software I can convert it to a high quality video. I converted this one with hitpaw. I then can make them into 4k res with DaVinci resolve editing software. The bad part with the old camera's is the trigger time and the poor night vision.
That is such an awesome shot in the snow
I love the snow shots ! wish he was headed toward the camera lol
Laying pipes and slinging arrows
He is good at both. Nice to have so many plugs in the sawmill shed. Nice group with bow, they were all just low.

Really ? I am only a few miles away from there. That was one heck of a good job. Great show! Do you live close to there also ?
@DANG-- yea but don't live near there but my buddy and his crew are also doing Mike painters house
It's amazing how much wild life will use a roadway. We have a video of one intersection where deer, bear, raccoons, fox, bobcat, fisher, and coyotes went by the camera all in one night. We were amazed

It was a fun live show, but we were way off subject lol
Do you have any suggestions you would like to see talked about on the Forestry & Sawmill Round table Live, in future months?
Hi, Papa.John is me Gavin.I just wanna say hi
I am on a Live stream, you can watch the live but HELLO !
Sycamore (followed by a Yellow Poplar)
I love the sycamore !
Before we had a sawmill we had scotch pines that were planted back in the 50's logged. I believe they all went for pulp.
That is probably what I should do. but..... I am sure i will have to try them on the sawmill lol
That a nice looking black walnut log. Good job Sir.
A little stress, but it was a nice log. I Failed to get any good close up views of the finished product. I can youtube OR i can work, not both LOL

Nice rack 😁 I make mine level but have thought it might be better to make it unlevel (but flat) for draining any sideways blown rain.
@@southernadirondackoutdoors you can go higher if they are level, but I only have a little tractor!
It’s just as much work milling lumber as it is building and maintaining lumber racks. I’ve started building decking racks with gravel underneath. Easier to build and don’t have to maintain as much. Just check once in awhile to make sure nothing has settled.
Gravel would be great under them, even cut down on the moisture under the stacks.
Come on over we have a lot to do many... Oh look at this 😂😂
Look squirrel ! You know it happens a lot !
Must be some soft sand to it have dug it at all
@@Randallgarrett-w6l It was sand, but there were others trees around he could not push over. Weird.
That’s some steady wind. Logs that had stress in them can keep it to the end. Call you local doctor and he will be subscribing Adderall to it now days 😂😂😂 finding good places for the GoPro’s when milling is hard. Nails nails. Can’t have a good video with a few nail strikes.
@@MsdMakingSawDust Wind is always blowing on my long hard wood log! If is doesn’t have stress they have a pill for that also!
Good job John. One good thing about all that wind out there is it keeps the dust out of your face...if it's blowing in the right direction.
IF is the key word, lol But honestly it is amazing how much the wind becomes are part of life. Every time you build a building, a door or a sawmill shed you HAVE to take into consideration " The Wind" !
A partner that does all the work for you. Bet you can’t beat that tool. 😂
I would not need any tools for it IF i did not have a partner buying it !

I'm not sure of the most useful tool but I do know that Dad always said I wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. 😕
@@birddogfarms6981 lol. That’s funny! Don’t have to be sharp. If it is long and hard wood she will like it.
This is fascinating! Thank you for sharing all the details😮
@@thejenhardy thanks for the comment! It is crazy how many times you need some lumber just to use it on the sawmill!
We've accumulated a bunch of blocks and boards of various lengths and thicknesses for wedging logs or spacing away from the stops etc.
I agree, blocks and wedge shaped wood is also a great thing to have around.
That’s what they been doing in my neighborhood. Harvesting the soybeans. But from the looks of it there fields are just a tad larger…😂

I build a lot of buildings (and decks) on piers for myself and customers. I never use concrete for my posts. It'll rot them off at an accelerated rate. A lot of folks don't realize that the concrete will hold moisture and rot the wood. Being pressure treated doesn't help them last much longer. Most fences around here, at least the ones built before we had lumber yards, are made with Locust posts. I've got a few fence lines on my property that were build in 1970 and they are just starting to need help. Not bad.
@@birddogfarms6981 yep black locust it a great ground contact wood. Some of my sawmill posts are black locust
We use a 6 foot (or thereabouts) wrecking bar we call the big nail for tamping. It weighs around 20 pounds and we call it the big nail because it looks like a big nail. Fewer tamps but your shoulders know it after a few holes.
