    I switched to Ubuntu yesterday because I was frustrated with the failing Triton/Sage attention repositories on Windows (which I use mainly for video generation optimization). Installation went smoothly, and now all my Flux, Huyuan, and LTX setups are running smoothly. However, I’ve just realized that getting InsightFace to work on Linux is an even bigger pain. Hopefully, we'll see a better alternative soon.

    So I end up using ubuntu studio instead. Here is an alternative method using Ventoy instead of Rufus, and I end up using Ubuntu Studio in future videos, because my Blue Yeti microphone needs low latency linux kernel which is provided by Ubuntu Studio. Ubuntu Studio includes preinstalled software for media production including graphics, so is good for working with stable diffusion based artwork. Linux Mint is more of a clean slate. Both have pros and cons. ua-cam.com/video/4j-1AV4eKNM/v-deo.html

    How do you make ComfyUI to look like that? Mine looks different.

    • @AlienMachineAI
      @AlienMachineAI 17 днів тому

      Well I'm not sure but for information, I am using the full github repository git cloned with my own conda virtual environment containing things for ComfyUI. This is opposed to using the prepackaged portable .zip for Comfy which uses a self generated environment. Perhaps the versions between these two are different. It could also just be my vivaldi browser is rendering things different. I also use the "Update All" button in the ComfyUI manager. This could also change my version compared to yours. It's hard to say but these are just some related aspects of my setup.

    Currently ComfyUI is releasing the Desktop version, but is it the best way to run ComfyUI? What do you think? I prefer the old fashioned way to have access to the internals directly, and manage my own environments using Conda as seen in my videos! I got the email for 0.3.8 a few hours ago, still messing with it, Install to default location, and don't import anything, let the base program install, then manually move your models over, it kept freezing until I stopped trying to be fancy.

    • @AlienMachineAI
      @AlienMachineAI 19 днів тому

      Thanks for the reply. I will next try to not import anything. I thought that it might not actually "import" anything, but reference it indirectly with a file even normal comfy has which allows you to specify alternative model directories. I figured it would just create that file and so it wouldn't be a huge issue. I have made a fresh windows user account and am going to try again, however I also just made a "installing comfy" video which might help people do it the old fashioned way while still relevant.

    • @AlienMachineAI
      @AlienMachineAI 19 днів тому

      I was able to get further using your tip! Nothing fancy, default location, don't import. I still prefer the classic way of running comfy so I can access and control the virtual environment myself, but the desktop application will help people get hooked.
