    Hi! Sorry for posting this comment on wrong video: did you test original pinion oil? I wonder if I should use GL-1 75W (if they even exist) or GL-3 or 4 75W (they are greatly available)

      @@MrDarthShoe : I used original Pinion oil for the first oil change. I bought a litre of 75-w80 which is apparently what the Pinion oil is but haven't used it yet. I will do that at the end of the year or early 2025. I bought that oil based on the results that 'Buck Crockett' posted on youtube for used pinion oil. I could not find a similar cheap test lab in the EU... Perhaps I could use the US test lab that he used, if so then I will send them Pinion + Rohloff oil to test (I have unused oil kits for both), to have more data points. I bought a litre of what the Rohloff oil should be (5-W30) too (this was the result of an oil test done on Rohloff's oil, listed on a cycling forum), I will test the Rohloff replacement oil when I return to NL. I did an oil change just before leaving NL about 2 months ago, with less than the previous recommendation of 25 ml, and the hub was noisy... I will add more from the 5W30 oil for the hub to see if that improves it back to normal. Rohloff decreased their oil to 12.5 ml per bottle, a good time to change to generic oil...

      @@MrJohneblaze822 yes indeed, I stopped commenting for that reason anywhere but my own channel after the introduction of youtube's AS (Artificial Stupidity) last year. Suddenly comments disappeared almost instantly instead of 'just' getting ghosted which was a phenomenon that was already very annoying but similar in being based on certain word combinations resulting in that nobody but yourself seeing the comment. The cause is wokeness and 'political correctness', trying to prevent 'hurt feelings', which has resulted more and more in absolute insanity and the creation of snowflakes, i.e. people who have a psychological meltdown over words and 'hurt feelings'. I thought about a video in which a lecturer used a word in chinese which sounded like a slur in English and the students were offered counselling after that, that: "if these people need counselling over a word then they are mentally unstable", and then I thought "aha, so the counselling is actually needed for the people who have a problem after that lesson!" :) Trying to make sure that nobody's feelings ever get hurt results also in not being able to discuss the truth, and thus to find the truth (see self-identification with gender for example). This is a direct result of implementing the insane idea of political correctness.

    I think he doesn't put any effort into hitting with the mallet, he hits from below. I think it's better if he hits from above and bends his legs while hitting. Then he does another test where he hits the U-lock shackles with a mallet, but he doesn't hit the body of the lock

    • @WHS_reviews
      @WHS_reviews Місяць тому

      @@jors3834 : I think hitting the lock is a bit of a difficult issue in that what is the most fragile part may not be immediately obvious. Hardened steel which is cooled down with a spray-can to very low temperature is more likely to shatter than less-hardened steel, and hardening is normally not through and through. Whether the U-part is more likely to shatter is then not clear because of the size (diameter), hardening, and the extrusions. But in any case, the hammer method is dangerous in that you could destroy what you want to steal. Is it a good tool? Btw, quite a while ago I watched a youtube 'short' about cutting through metal with diamond coated discs and someone made a reply to a comment like "A so you still believe metal cuttings discs are the best way to cut through metal". Diamond coated discs are available cheaply (In the Netherlands, Germany, Poland for example from the 'Action' stores), and these are the way to go for cutting. It would be interesting to do a comparison of extreme cooling + hammer and needing to be careful, then cutting the same lock with a diamond coated disc. What is also interesting is mini-grinders. The normal ones are extremely loud, the small ones make barely any noise. I watched a video about a year ago of cutting a lock with these. Takes time but for the non-angle-grinder resistant locks that means at night a thief wouldnot attract attention. If there are diamond coated discs for these grinders (about 90 mm diameter discs), may these could also work for such locks.

    Hello again! A video cycling from the outskirts of Amsterdam to Amstelveen. A lot of noise is picked up by the DJI from the Spinup F12W dynamo for some reason, I need to check the setup, but the video is possibly interesting, I tell of some experiences cycling in NL the past 3 weeks. I cycled 35 km to Amsterdam to buy some Alpen muesli (red package, my 2nd favourite after Kellog's Country store which I can't find in NL any more, Alpen muesli is also hard to find). After buying the muesli and visiting the centre, on the ride back to Alphen a.d. Rijn, and after experiencing several idiots on e-bikes while riding in Amsterdam, I was thinking about the issue that cycling in NL is not just no longer safe, but also annoying, which is caused by idiots on e-bikes. I will add the list of incidents that happened the last 3 weeks here in text. The problems are caused by riders on e-bikes who don't want to brake, who don't anticipate, and some are simply dangerous nutters. The latter type of people seem to be attracted to especially e-fat bikes. I had heard that there are a lot of complaints about e-fatbikes/people on them, and I found out the past few weeks that they are indeed a problem. My experiences: 1. woman on e-bike (pedelec) complaining about having to brake because I anticipated a potential problem (guy on bike on a footpath riding with bicycle towards the cycle path, would he just go onto it or wait for me to pass?) for which I went to the left on the cyclepath to make room to prevent a possible collision. This woman didn't anticipate that possibility, obviously. 2. rider on electric fatbike almost collided with me. He was going to a one way street on which I was riding, but he was going the wrong way, which is not so much of a problem in itself except that he was also riding on the wrong side of the road while taking an almost blind corner, so going directly towards me! He and I could just evade. 3. 2nd rider on such an e-fatbike collided with me doing the exact same thing, 3 days ago. He didn't respond to me stating he was going the wrong way, he was only looking as his bike and his hand. 4. woman in Amsterdam on e-bike on a narrow cyclepath complained when I overtook some cyclists that I should indicate overtaking or look back: no I shouldn't, nobody does that. She should anticipate and as it is narrow, ring the bell to indicate wanting to overtake on such a narrow path, and she should slow down to overtake in such cases. I was overtaking because people before me were slowing down. She should have seen it but in any case should have slowed down and rung the bell because of the path being narrow. I reproached her about her idiotic complaining and her idiotic overtake attempt. 5. Waiting at a traffic light, a delivery dude on e-bike behind me suddenly complained that I should look out. WTF? He likely had to brake when I crossed the path, but that means he was going too fast... 6. guy in Amsterdam riding on an e-fatbike was riding on the wrong side of the road trying to be 'funny', to pretend to go collide with me. All these things were caused by people who are not able to judge situations, not anticipating and blaming others for having to brake, or who are crazy. Having to brake is part of life but they want to be able to go 25 km/h everywhere, which is not possible on most cyclepaths esp. when there are many others cycling. It was more dangerous and more annoying the past 3 weeks riding about 600 km in NL than the 1600km in 6 weeks in Ukraine... Actually I can add last year in UA too: 600km in 3 weeks in NL was more dangerous than 2600km in Ukraine...

So if the leather is very soft try lacing and if that doesn't work it may not be salvageable. Perhaps there are ways to get the leather harder again (perhaps with chemicals that counteract softening caused by various oils), but I haven't thought much nor searched much for anything like this that others may have tried.

    I have ridden 5300km with Pinion C1.2. The main disadvantage for me was too big gap between 9 and 10 gear speed. When it is my max rotations on my 9 speed (about 26-27kmh) and I change for higher 10 gear speed I am too weak to ride on 10 gear and I loose my velocity to 25km/h and soon I have to change again for 9 gear. That`s why I will change C1.2 for P1.8

    • @WHS_reviews
      @WHS_reviews 2 місяці тому

      @@adambog5871 Good point, so that gear is right in the region where you would want a smaller gear step, because it is an often used sub-range of the total range and thus there you would want the possibility to select a better fitting gear. With the C1.12, even though all gear steps are the same, these steps are not optimal as I calculated (contrary to the P1.18 which isclose to optimal), and you only use ones in a specific range a lot, namely those for riding on flat terrain with moderate wind, the rest are for the less common situations such as accelerating, riding up hills, riding fast with a tail wind. This is similar to why I suggested to Sturmey Archer many years ago that their 5 speed hubs should have a different gearing. It used to be 1 -> small step -> 2 -> big step -> 3 -> big step -> 4 -> small step -> 5, whereas I suggested: 1 -> big step -> 2 -> small step -> 3 -> small step -> 4 -> big step -> 5, which would give 3 gears close together in the most used range and still you have a hill/traffic light gear + tail wind gear. Instead of doing that, they later went with even steps... How do you like the shifting with the C1.12? Smooth enough?
