Saint Bede remarks that in Mark, the rich young man comes along immediately after Jesus lets the children come to him, saying, "Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it." The rich young man is obedient to God but in his riches, he relies on himself instead of having a child-like reliance on God. Jesus tells him what he must change.

When Paul rebukes Peter, it is from a position of equality. Paul is an Apostle taught by Christ just like Peter. Paul is delivering an equal message to the Gentiles as Peter is to the Jews. There is a parallelism of authority but simply with different followers (??). Are the Cardinals or Bishops free to "critique" Pope Francis as Paul did to Peter?
