So the dancers (or choreographer) didn't bother to watch Russell's dancing and use that for their dance. Thankful for the focus on the band and NOT the dancers. Some of the dancers looked a bit shagged out toward the end. But not Russell!

Romeo Void was a great Band that got dropped because the lead singer didn’t look like a model. Literally the record company didn’t want to promote them thinking they wouldn’t make it.

My sister and I attended the Sparks concert at the Anaheim Convention Center in 1983. The Bangles were the opening act. And Jane Weidlin showed up to sing "Cool Places".

Ron and Russell doing everything they could to "break" America. Don't get me wrong. there are some great songs from this period but, to me, it always looked a little forced. I don't blame them, the US were fools not to get behind Sparks with Half Nelson/Sparks and Woofer. Two great timeless albums.

I remember listening to this and singing the lyrics back in grade 11 and 12 in ‘83/84. Sparks in Outer Space is a fun album. Give me some clothes to strap over my head. :)

“Popularity” is one of the most under-the-radar snarkiest, subversive attack songs ever written, slyly criticizing and sending up the ignorance and shallowness of the “popular” kids it claims to celebrate… A couple of years ago, I played this for the first time for my high-school aged daughter, who was NOT in with the “popular kids” clique - she got the gist of this tune IMMEDIATELY. Just a superb song.

As a society, we’ve done nothing to deserve this new wave sarcasm. We are unworthy of Ron’s sudden cheesy breakdance break that ends as abruptly as it began.
