I think none of them, you will limit your HDD speed at USB2.0 ~480Mpbs, S.M.A.R.T doesn’t work so well in USB interface though. Better get other minipc with real SATA connect, it’s cheaper and more suitable for NAS purpose.

CPU is just enough for minimal GUI desktop and you can’t compile some programs from source because it will not enough of memory and arm64 architech. I don’t think this SBC is suitable for normal programing. You should get an x86 computer, It can cross compile to arm64. This board better use as small server, testing lab, iot….

I don’t think so. You can do some basic web browsing but it will be lagging when you watch UA-cam videos. You can see CPU usage, it’s not suitable for daily using if you want to do those stuffs. Text or CLI is OK, it’s good enough for this.

You just need to grab any image with same soc then overwrite u-boot. In this case Rock Pi E for RK3328, I saw someone made dtb file for R2S already. The performance was not good, you’ll want other board like R4S, maybe it will better.

CasaOS is good but I don't think you shoud run it on Orange Pi Zero3. It was slow and unreliable in my experience. I prefer to run programs on baremetal or docker without any supervisor on top of OS.

@@fabiovir The Wifi on Orange Pi Zero3 / Debian was fine but some IOT devices only connect to 2.4Ghz band, some of them can not work with WPA2/WPA3. Maybe you need to config Orange Pi Zero 3 access point support 2.4Ghz band and WEP/WPA. You'll need a better antena of course. I don’t think it’s the problem. Mini Linux in SPI storage will load the boot loader (u-boot) in the SD Card then actual kernel. The red light up and when the boot finish then the green light.

Raspbian là Debian fork thôi bạn, ngoài GUI khác 1 ít so với LXDE thì không khác nhau nhiều. Orange Pi Zero này hỗ trợ chính thức cho Arch, Ubuntu, Debian, Android mình nghĩ là khá đủ. Có thêm Armbian nó là Debian tối ưu cho ARM khá là hứa hẹn, hôm nào mình viết hướng dẫn về nó.
