Just watched 1974’s Midnight Special with Steely Dan on UA-cam! Watched Jeff and the rest kick butt on My Old School & Reeling In The Years!! My how the lord did such great work creating Skunk & Denny’s guitar solos! Wow!! Even after 50 years it’s still a thrill to watch!!!

While I don't remember much about John Lennon and May Pang, I do remember seeing a photo of them together and feeling happy that he was no longer with Yoko Ono who always seemed like an absolute and opportunistic flake to me. That said, I think May was used by both of them and deserves to reap whatever she can from that experience.

I met both Robin Zander and His son RTZ many years ago ! They were staying at a hotel in Iowa, while Cheap Trick was on tour. I worked there as a chef, Robin and his son were in the restaurant. RTZ was only about 12 years old, maybe a bit younger. Robin was very nice and so was RTZ. They mostly talked to my girlfriend who was a waitress at the hotel. A great memory, If you want to know more about this just let me know. A lot to type not sure anyone is interested.

well this is stupid. if you are a musician you want as many people as possible to hear your music. Saying, I don't want it on streaming platforms is denying 90% of the public access to your music. Imagine a 6 year old who has been waiting for ages for this record to drop and now he needs to buy a record player first in order to enjoy your music? He says he tries to write music that is at the crossroads of familiar and unfamiliar, that is inevitable but not predictable. Fascinating how these two bright minds can independently collide on the same concept here.

Excellent interview. I became a fan of Nicky Hopkins when I was at school, and bought his album "The Tin Man Was A Dreamer" when it was released. I wondered who "Dolly" was (from that album). Now I know. Sadly, that relationship didn't end well. Perhaps the most inspiring recording that Nicky made was "The Revolutionary Piano of Nicky Hopkins". It was recorded in 1966. Nicky was 21 years old. He must really have stood out from other musicians even at that age or else he would not have secured that record deal. On that album, he covers a Beatles song (Yesterday) and a Rolling Stones song (Satisfaction). He was to go on to play with both of these bands (and solo Beatles). He had a truly incredible career.
