Underrated & Unforgettable - Bouldering in Gjerdalen’s Magic Valley
Our Arctic Circle Trip 2024 continues and we hear rumours of a stunning "Magic Valley" from a local boulderer. Instantly impressed we head to Gjerdalen. This lovely spot in the Norwegian mountains did not let us down. Staying in Gjerdalen is super relaxing without cellphone reception or tourist crowds. You can swim on crystal clear warm water and explore these rocky mountains.
Bouldering here is stunning for sure. Rock quality differs from great to rubbish but the amount of developed + undeveloped climbing here makes up for the partly bad stone quality. Amount of boulders here is huge with good chance of finding something new. Access & locating boulders can be hard so make sure you are not in a rush while visiting. We got also totally shut down by some easier routes so be aware of partly STIFF Norvegian grading.
Please tell what you thought of this video. Would be really nice to chat with some locals, so if you are local or know the place / history, be sure to leave a comment!

The Thrill of First Ascents - Exploring New Crags & Boulders in Leirskardalen, Norway!
Переглядів 2,4 тис.Місяць тому
Hey! Welcome to Leirskardalen! After Harbak we got a hint of this fresh crag in amazing location & possibilities for developing new boulders. We were amazed by the location and the sea of boulders on the canyon. We climbed some existing boulders and added a few new ones to the collection. The rock in Leirskardalen is mostly crumbly but there are some solid & good rock to be found. We only manag...
Top Summer Bouldering Location in Europe? Climbing in Norway - Harbak!
Переглядів 2 тис.Місяць тому
After browsing through topos and suggestions for our first Norwegian Boulders we decided to head to Harbak. Weather looked a bit unstable so a story of a huge rainproof mountain roof filled with many great boulders made the decision easy. Luckily weather turned ok and we got to experience the whole Harbak. Most unique feature in Harbak is the big roof that should be dry even in rain & snow! Roc...
Bouldering in Sweden: Highball Thrills & Rough Climbs

We are climbing in Västanbäck, Sweden! This beautiful thinned pine forest used for logging is scattered with rough granite & huge stones. This area is easily accessible, with variety of boulders to try, mainly on the rougher side though. On our two-day visit here, I climbed some of the easier & higher lines while Juuso kept jumping for his dreams. Johanna was still recovering from her flu by pi...

Boulder Projecting Process & Outperforming Yourself
Переглядів 4,8 тис.5 місяців тому
🧠 ⁉️ How to do something that feels too hard for you? How to break personal "limits" when you have to pull harder than you can? These are some of the thoughts I had this summer session projecting these boulders by myself. (Side question, do you watch beta videos or figure boulders by yourself?) This is quite "raw" edit of projecting from few weeks back. These two routes are from V12 crag, near ...

Magic Wood Bouldering | Europe Tour Part 6

Our Europe trip 2023 videos are releasing slow but steady! Here is some clips from a short day visit to Magic Wood. We planned to stay there longer but the mountain weather is treacherous. Rain allowed only one day of climbing for us. The forest has taken a heavy toll because of countless enthousiastic climbers, which somewhat dents the Magic of this forest. Especially comparing to Finnish fore...

Hey! Its time for some classic Finnish WAPPU shenanigans! 🎉🤩 Hope you like this video of a classic arete problem in Nousiainen. Nousukausi has some interesting wide moves and multiple heel/toe hooks. No single move is especially hard but the difficulty comes from doing ~20 moves without a single rest. 0:00 - Intro 3:18 - Projecting & Route introduction 4:16 - Nousukausi, 7B

Last autumn & this spring we have spent lots of time in Nousiainen / Mynämäki region. There are loads of amazing rock quality with some proud lines. Big recommendation to visit these areas. Also high quality lowball boulders! Some of the topos don't have clear access info but are sensitive to parking and sector access. Feel free to ask info about these sectors & use common sense. Nice! I wrote the guidebook and 27crags guide for the area. Glad you found your way and enjoyed it!
Thanks! Thats awesome to hear, big respects! Watched your Barbarossa send and other videos earlier, some strong stuff. Inspiring for next trip! Barbarossa is on my project list for sure next summer. Going to spend probably 4 weeks on july on west coast Norway. If you have recommendations or would like to join us please follow on instagram or something and lets be in touch. Would be awesome to have a local guide. :)
Another beautiful video! Impeccable vibes
Thanks Will, appreciated! <3
Cool. 👏My home turf.
Thanks! Your home is pretty awesome. Norway is my top bouldering location for sure. You have so much climbing there!
Beautiful projections of stunning nature! Lovely!
Thank you, much appreciated!
Very good music. That outside climbing looks intimidating. Why you have to climb so high up? Cant you go sideways? I like the plastic thingies more. And big mattress to crash on- *full smack*.
Thanks heikki! Outside climbing is not for faint hearted! You can traverse rocks if thats what you like to do, my fengshui usually compells me to go up! (fengshui/madness). <3
Great video, what song is playing at 11:54? I really like it.
T-shirts & sweats - Dont Bother, from epidemic sounds! Is this the one you were looking for? =)
Well, I am certainly going here. This area looks fantastic.
@@sethsends you should! The area is so beautiful and peaceful. ✌🏽 Rock quality is the only downside here but you'll find good rock also!
the best content! good on you guys for putting the effort into making new climbs and safe landings!!
Thank you for the kind words! Climbing new stuff is so exciting. Making the landings/padding safe as possible is even more important when climbing on these remote places :)
@ agreed we climb in similar areas in northern ontario, canada.
@@nomaddevelopers sweet! Would love to cross the seas one day and explore America!
nice routes man!
Thank you so much!
Wonderful! Great to see that Leirskardalen is getting recognition. Nord-Norge Banen is a majestic line, cool FA's as well. Rainbow slide was a suitable name for the boulder :D
Yeah Nord-Norgebanen is majestic & bit mental for sure! It has some great rock also! Rainbow slide was a gift from leprechauns for sure! 😁 Leirskardalen is such a lovely place, would be psyched to explore more next time. 😊
Beautiful footage of your preparations and climbing! What a great destination, rock, and scenery! Greetings from Canada!
Thank you! So great to reach people from all the way in Canada. Greetings back to you 🤗
nice boulders!
Thank you! Leirskardalen is such a nice place, next year I would like to hike out the other parts of the wally.
Ahh so that's how you started Beaver Queen, 6C+ Was wondering about that. Will give it a go next time I'm up there! Lovely video!
Thanks! Could not establish the sitstart so decided on that start. Hope it's not too unclear 😁.
rainbowslide looks awesome, cool name aswell
Thanks! It has good set of moves + it has good rock quality aswell.
Hieno video ja hienoja sendejä 💪🏼 Noi Beaver Queniin muuvit näytti siistiltä mut vaikeelta 🧗👌🏼
Kiitti Ben! Joo mä tykkäsin, se oli oikee Boulderi, rankat oudot muuvit rapeella kivellä. :D
Juuso vaikutti kans tykkäävän 🤣🤣
Joo, Juuso ei ollut aivan vakuuttunut...
Hey, cleaning stones doesn't count in "projecting process" time. Otherwise really nice ascends. Pump up the grade kiddo. <3
Sure it does! You are climbing the holds in your mind whilst cleaning up & listening the stone with your brush. Thank you Heikki. <3
Very nice! I climbed the first (Norwegian) grade 8 climb in the Trøndelag region in 1981, but at that time we didn't know about any of the great new spots (like Harbak) that would be discovered over the next 10-20 years. At the time I really loved steep overhangs so Harbak would have been perfect. I'm still climbing, but at 67 is is mostly a case of trying to slow down the inevitable decline.
Really nice to hear a bit of climbing history, thank you for sharing Terje! Climbing something that hard back then is an amazing feat as climbing must have been such a different sport back then. Im glad you are still in the climbing game, such an inspiration! For me Norway is so special place to climb, and there is still much to be developed, especially in Bouldering. Driving through the mountains you can see endless possibilites scattered around! 🙏
@@StoneDisciples It is literally endless! Just driving through Telemark, or taking the boat ride up from the sea via a series of locks, most of the daylong trip you'll have huge cliffs on both sides of the ship.
@@StoneDisciples PS. I was reasonably good at that time, like top 5 in Norway, but only our top climber (Hans Chr Doseth) was close to the international elite. In 1982 on an international climbing gathering in France, Wolfgang Güllich and the top French and British climbers were attempting 8c/8c+ while I was very happy to just swap leads with Finn Dæhli on 7a routes in Verdon, i.e. they were a full number grade stronger. Hans Chr and Finn both died in 1984 on the return from Trango tower.
Yeah! I'm still daydreaming about last summer trip and all the exploration to be had there!
Oh ok! Still great to push the sport limits locally. What a tragic story of those other strong fellows...
Greatness!
Thanks 😊
Hieno video jälleen kerran, musiikit on aina 10/10! "Hooligan" on aika klassisen näköinen reitti :)
Kiitos palautteesta! Hooligan oli kyllä loistava heart breaker. Raskaat muuvit tohon commit toppiin. Kiva jättää jotain ensi kerralle myös 😁
Hyvää settiä taas! Vitsi toi Big foot näytti hyvältä! silloin kun kävin itse niin en innostunut yhtään =D
Kiitos ❤️ Se on kyllä hieno ja tuhti 6C!
REALLY GOOD! YOU NEED TO MAKE MORE OF THESE THAT ARE FOCUSED ON ONE CLIMBER!
I WAS SWETTING MY BALLS WITH JUUSO, AS HE CLIMBED INTO THE DARKNESS.
THANKS Heikki! More coming in the future 😊
NORGE, BABY!
YOU HAVE TO LOVE NORGE!
So good video once again. Thank you. Beautifully climbed despite the fear. I think that fear is really complicated, but essential part of my joy for climbing.
Thank you Pyry! 😊 I also consider fear being a big part of bouldering especially. Only when I test the limits of fear on my climbing I sometimes question the risk I'm taking!
Fear is life
Amen. 🙏
fear keeps you alive. you got it all wrong
Sending after epic fear, is possibly the best feeling out there!
Saw your van and then you guys coming down from the Harbak cave this summer. We only had time for a quick look/session before heading north, but man, I wish we could have stayed longer. Was such an unique wall formation, and that view that awaited you once you finished an attempt! Did you come across any cool boulders?
Shangri-La looks amazing! Would love to climb that stone.
Oh yeah! We saw someone coming to the crag so it was you! =) The whole Norway coast is just amazing & the crags are huge. We climbed some cool ones in Harbak big roof/wall and projected some on the far left of the sector. I will make Harbak video later! All in all Norway is just crazy good!
Yeah that was such a good climb! I really enjoyed the crag.
Kova veto!!
Tämks!!
Eikä hyttysiä🎉
Joo, ruotsi ja norja oli kyl huikeita kun ei ollut mahdottomasti hyttysiä. Vaassa oli kyl aika surina.
Nice send! 👌
Thanks! 😁
🔥🔥🔥
🔥
Also those high heels on Shangri La!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah, it is such a good route. Johanna was so close sending with her unique beta, but we decided to continue trip on day 2. Until next time!
Loved this! Great mix. Very entertaining :)
Thank you! Im glad to hear you enjoyed. 🙏
Hyvä episodi! Seuraavassa nähdään selvästi Ny Mumana assis, 8a? 🤯😎
Kiitos =)! No ei iha sittiä! Ständi 🤫
What actually is the point? You guys never climb anything, you just pull poses. And a ladder, FFS?
We climbed the ladder! It's much easier. Posing can be seen as a part of warm up. 😌 What would you like to see instead of goofing, raw climbing sends?
Great stuff! Can’t wait to you again guys!
Thanks! It means a lot 🙏
Nice stuff! Lovely pronounciation of Mosjön... =D ...and loved the rope ladder downclimb!
Thanks! Sweden is actually our second language but we just suck at it... On the trip tried to explain to swedish people we went to Mosjön but no one understood until we showed the map. 😄 Have to work on my swedish skills!
amazing strength
Thanks!
Cool video, but you can’t use the left edge on the Call of Duty boulder! 😉
Oh! I remember the left arete was eliminated and though the hold is not. But I see how that is a bit close call. Thanks for the comment and the correction! =)
What an incredibly beautiful place to climb!! I laughed as you climbed down the tree, casually discussing your experience 😅 I also enjoyed the cartwheel 😂 Alright, this video motivated me to try the v6 that I wasn't able to get the last two trips out.
Thank you Adeline, glad you liked the video!Really happy I could be a motivation for your project, hope you crush it!💥 ☺️
What rock type is this boulder
Hey, I believe it's granite! Not a expert on geology though. 😅
Olipa mukavaa katseltavaa taas kerran! Kiva nähdä kiipeilyä hiukan unholaan jääneistä mestoista :)
Kiitti ❤️ mennään ens kerralla yhdessä työstään se sensei 💥
Next time Myllis???
For sure! Let's try to schedule it for the Autumn send temps ✨
👌
👏
Sweet short video vittu. All boulderers swear? true or fake news. Really good song first part. You also steaming your camera/lenses like all good videomen did one day.
Thanks heikki. All boulderers swear for sure. Inside their head at least. You just have to be brave to say it out loud!
Hyvä video kuten muutkin kanavalla! Ja samaa mieltä et analstasia 💎
Kiitos paljon, kivasta palautteesta! Analstacia oli kyl loistava alusta loppuun. Hyvää muuvia ja kiveä.
Tätä lisää👍
Ikinä ei voi olla liikaa mynämäkeä!!!
gUIS YOU SURE THIS IS SAFE? i SHAT MY PANTS!
Don't try this at home!!!
Mämmi might be considered a form of aid climbing, but otherwise good stuff!
I know... Was kinda hesitant to release that video clip 😲
Is there new lines in the area. a vid of finding scrubbing and sending a new line would be really cool!
This is superb idea! Always interested to find & climb new ones. This area is pretty scouted but there are some possibilities in the near regions. Thanks for the tip!
