I apologise if this critique is unwanted or unasked for, but Akutagawa would absolutely NOT be happy to be in this room. Akutagawa despises Dazai for what he did, yet can’t help but crave his approval despite it. it’s very clear in the manga after Kyōka’s entrance exam in the manga when Dazai praises him. there’s a close up of his face, where he tries to seem tough and unfazed, to express his hatred towards Dazai, but he fails and softens up at Dazai’s ‘kind words’. the anime fucked it up intensely. he’s always hated Dazai, however can’t help but long for his words.
