'77 Pearson 30 on the Great Bay
I tried to keep the horizon level to no avail. Had her over nearly 35° a few times, close to 7kts. It was exhilarating. I love the feeling of pushing her hard when I'm single handing. Every time out is a lesson.

Paneltronics Electrical Panel Problem
Переглядів 88Рік тому
The Paneltronics electrical panel on my 46 year old sailboat, a Pearson 30, has just begun to act up. I'm no electrician. Can anyone offer some direction here? It began with just one or two lights flickering on when I activated the Accessory switch (bottom) and now as you see it has spread. There are a few dead indicator lights as well.

CARF Spitfire with StinGR 170 1st Run to WOT!
Переглядів 978Рік тому
This is the first time that I've run the Stinger 170 up to wide open throttle. The propeller in the video is a 30x12 Falcon carbon 2CE. For this run I'm only using two of the four 6s lipos (12s 12,000mAh). They are China Hobby Line racing 6200 mAh 90c (EC5 connectors being replaced with 8mm plugs). Total aircraft weight 37 lbs/600oz, 102" span, approx 2000in2 wing area. Link to manufacturer: ww...

    Well what does the plane weigh, how many pounds of thrust at how many amps at WOT, and for how long? Who makes the reduction drive, is the motor brand name Stinger? My Hangar 9 Fokker D7 uses an Admiral (Motion RC) 60cc sized motor direct drive with ZTW 150 AMP esc on 12s turning a 24x10 prop at 7400 RPM for 28 lbs of thrust on a 20 lb plane pulling max 118 AMPS. Flight times around 9 minutes. Flies circuits at 1/4 throttle nice and easy. Much more power and way more reliable than the gas DLE61 I had previously installed. Great video but we NEED more information!!!

      That is a StinGR 170 (170cc equivalent) which uses a Scorpion 5040 with a custom made shaft and wind just for the manufacturer. I'll post a link. I'll post the particulars in a few days power and thrust data. I was testing props. The right combination will give me 90mph and 75-90lbs of thrust. The Spitfire weighs 37lbs...

    If you can't pull the nose up and flare a bit to slow down. You could possibly be a little nose heavy. I kept taking lead out of the front of mine a little at a time. and finally I found a balance point with no feeling it was tail heavy in flight.. but it would flare and land easier. BUSA is pretty safe on the balance point, which tends to be nose heavy..

      The EGO tools use 90mm edfs, but don't channel very much power through them, 14s, 750W to 1000W. One can easily modify an EGO unit to triple or more its power and make LiPo EGO packs to run it.

    So Mike, The bikes are up to 300cc? Also, 2 or 4 stroke motors?

    • @CarreraGTSCS
      @CarreraGTSCS 7 років тому

      Hi Dave! It's basically a race class that allows lightly modified 300's to run together competetively. A good rider on a dialed in 250 can win. Notice that guy (Mr Cornerspeed) passing me on the second lap-- he's on an R3 which has 25cc more than my Ninja 300. He couldn't pass me on the straight but he carried more speed in the corners and took off. Conversley notice that orange bike that I was swapping position with for a while until I got in front and stayed there. That was a KTM 390. Even though we're all +- each other on power it's more about the rider than the bike to a large extent. Rules: Ultra-Lite Class is open to 300cc sport model motorcycles including Kawasaki Ninja 250/300 models, Honda CBR 250/300 models, Yamaha R3 model, Suzuki 250/300 and KTM390. Kawasaki motorcycles have the same rules that apply for the Ninja RTR class listed above. Yamaha R3 models are limited to suspension upgrades including aftermarket shock and internal fork components, bars, rearsets, bodywork, chain and gearing. KTM 390 models must remain in stock form having no upgrades.

    • @imsofaman
      @imsofaman 7 років тому

      In the early 80's, I had a 2 stroke Yamaha RD 350. It was an amazing bike....with the expansion chamber exhaust installed the power band was incredible. Get to a certain RPM, the torque and speed increases. I miss those old street legal 2-strokes. They were used for cafe racing.
