This video is part of a series called Artist In Residence, which is brought to you from the College of Menominee Nation’s S. Verna Fowler Academic Library, and the Menominee Public Library on the CMN Campus, Menominee Indian Reservation, Keshena, Wisconsin.
Instrumentals chosen from the “Where Eagles and Ravens Fly” CD, include the title track and a second piece titled “Wings Over the Canyon,” inspired respectively by the author’s travels in his Alaska homeland and to Grand Canyon. The social and kinship lines of the Tlingit - embodied in Eagle House and Raven House - are distinctive moieties which represent balance in family lines and mutual respect and in doing so promote balance in relationships, resources and authority. The emotional impact of the vast canyon resulted in the music of “Wings”, Dr. Trebian says. It is a song that represents acting on a dream to give the dream flight to cross divides and connect to success
