I am exceedingly grateful that I did not have an audience for my first viewing of Lost.

There is two versions of the pilot, as the TARDIS scene was recorded twice. One version is on The Hartnell Years, the other was transmitted August Bank Holiday in 1991.

John said to Charlie once that the island might give him something but he had to give the island something as well. When John was emotionally breaking down and the light in the hatch came on, I took it to mean that the island was requiring an emotional devotion to it

This wasn't just a test run. It was supposed to be the btoadcast version. But for a myriad of reasons (a few of which you addressed) Sidney Newman ordered a remount which was the version aired on 23/11/63. The "thunderclap" heard in the opening titles was supposed to be part of the main theme but was dropped before the remounted version was recorded. Fluffed lines were commonplace on television at that time due to costs and time constraints in reshooting a scene or because a lot programmes were broadcast live (Z Cars for example) and mistakes went out on air. So Dr Who was no exception as far as that went. Newman had dinner with Verity Lambert and Waris Hussein after viewing the 'pilot". He told them the issues he had with it and you know the rest.

I forgot to say, I have had Great Fun Colourizing a number of the Stories. I just finished the Second Doctor's (Patrick Troughton) last story, War Games. It looks great in colour.

They were Ordered to do a Remake because of the mistakes. Here are just two, Susan fluffing her line about the hit parade and Barbara tripping over the door-frame. In the Unaired Version in the Junk Yard right at the start, the TARDIS looked like new. I had great fun finding out all the differences between to two Versions.

Season 4 was fairly controversial when it was live. People wanted Peter back. Supposedly things were rewritten, when I rewatched the show 4 came out a lot better to me than when it was live. Season 5 is obviously as far as we went. Show came up in a weird time for shows, if it was today it would be considered a hit, but as fans when it was on we knew it was on the bubble and might not get a long run but we were surprised when it got a truncated final season. Theoretically they might have been having that sort of negotiation or thinking about it when they’re doing the start of season 4. We knew the energy season 3 had, we all loved the show. Season 4 was a lot of trying to appeal to network executives and finally deciding to just throw in the towel and get the small final season. Season has a lot of fun but we lose some of the long storytelling where they drop hints of things that might come. I remember them saying they had this long plan before the show and then season 3 they’re doing stuff from their planned 8th season list of mysteries to solve. Season 4 is great for me all these years later. Enjoy it on your first watch. Some good stuff

As great as s3 is, i think s4 is my favorite.

11:40 - All that pointless note-taking, and the first mention of "Jacob" in the show gets a blank stare and absolutely no reaction. LMAO. But be sure to note down utterly obvious things like "Henry Gale is dangerous" and other details that are entirely self-evident just by watching the screen.

Whoever tells all these Lost reactors to "take notes" is a moron. Reactors take it literally and focus more on note-taking than watching and enjoying the show. "Someone at the bottom of the hatch", yeah I'm sure that was a SUPER important note to be taking during the significant opening moments of the season.

Talking about the TV movie they most of sorted out some some of the rights as I noticed 1999 was also mentioned which the was the year the movie was set in

A red dwarf episode in which they realised they were in a tv show and I can dw doing this also Mrs flood was wearing something in this episode similar to Clara and now Romana at the end

I don't recall an explanation of just why Sutekh didn't kill the Doctor, though I may have missed it. I suppose it could be the usual megalomania thing of needing an audience for his victory but on the other hand, it seems like something else might be involved. Perhaps he, too, was sucked into the mystery of Ruby Sunday?

Sutekh's Dust of Death reached Karn, because a dying Eighth Doctor, crash-landed in his TARDIS on Karn, during the Last Great Time War, where he was given the opportunity to regenerate into the War Doctor, which happened in the 50th Anniversary Minisode, The Night of the Doctor.

I've never been a huge fan of Mel but she's been a real highlight of this new era and you can see that Bonnie Langford is clearly having a blast with it.

Does this mean that in the day of the doctor when there were 3 tardises in the gallery, that there were 3 sutekhs?

I think it's closely obvious Mrs. Flood is definately a Time Lord but it'll turn out to be someone we don't know perhaps maybe The Consair a character from one of the comics which would be a nice change instead of the same old returns of past characters. The episode was good in parts but I thought Sutekh was defeated too easily it didn't need to be a CGI dog they could have had a real actor in costume it would had been just as effective and sinister. I have to say I didn't care for the Ruby and mother scene it dragged on far too long it I think RTD forgets he's writing science fiction this felt like I was watching a soap opera which is one of the problematics I find with RTD I don't think they were special I think RTD is just getting lazy with his writing because there was 7 weeks of this build up and it was all for nothing.

Good reaction. My take on Ruby's mother, when I hear people keep saying she wasn't anything special, I think it downplays the point RTD was trying to make (but could have done better showing) that she IS special- a 15 yr old girl giving up her baby, that's so incredibly brave and traumatic and sad. They say she's "ordinary" because yes this situation does happen everyday around the whole world, but I think its so 'normalized' for us that we're not seeing it for the 'special' thing it is- a very brave human taking care of another human. Which I think is a huge part of Doctor Who from the beginning, yknow after all the aliens and fun sci-fi stuff 😄 I think RTD could have focused on this point better but likely didn't have the screen time. Or could've done better with the scene of the lonely woman at end of the universe and her baby- it was a great set up but I wanted better lines and just.. more, lol. I did feel an anti-climactic feeling from the episode but overall I think it was fun and pretty good. Hopefully it will only get better from here. I hope people don't bash it too much, cuz "oh in the end, she was nothing special. she was ordinary." Well.... I disagree. :)
