Centerville Beach with a Dowg Ferndale CA Humboldt County July 2024
Took the Mr. Stink to a local beach that is only about a 20 minute drive away, Ferndale is a pleasant small town to drive through as well. Pretty choppy waves so I didnt expect to catch any fish in that.

I visited this spot a few days after moving to Humboldt county. Humboldt Bay NWR preserves estuarine and tidal habitat on the southern end of the bay. There is a quality trail that goes through the grasslands and out into the tidal areas.

Free local county beach, where the Eel River dumps into the ocean. The road to get out there often floods in the winter and is rough, so drive slowly. Great place to take the dog, as its only a 15 minute drive out there from Fortuna. Usually pretty empty as well!

106 down in the valley...low 70s in the shade at 8000 feet. That is the power of elevation of the most unique mountain range in the world. Dominant red fir forest, with pines and assorted hardwoods mixed in. California red fir is native to and only found in California. Thanks for watching...get to squatchin.
Sierra Nevada Willow Creek Fir Flat Camp Day Trip, June 2022

Went back to Fir Flat, a dispersed campsite along Willow Creek in Madera County. This is all public land as part of Sierra National Forest. I like to come to this spot once a month to monitor use and clean up, I wish it was lesser known but its still a great spot worth maintaining. Pack It In - Pack It Out, please don't leave trash in OUR hills

Got up extra early and got rubber on the road. Manzanita Lake near North Fork is only about 35 minutes of driving for me. Fished mostly with rainbow and silver spinners and a lightweight, topwater holographic minnow. Smallmouth bass, 5 - 6 inches. Please remember to be respectful and leave recreation areas better than whence you came!

Try to get the mountain pup up into the mountains at least once a month, and in May we blasted up Central Camp Rd in Madera Co. Got up to Whiskers Campground were we explored and did some fuel reduction work. Was cool to see trout in the crick!
