I like RC tanks. Here’s a couple videos my messing around with them. If you have any questions on what I did or what I used, give me a shout.
Tiger I 2025 Snow Day
Finally got to take my Tiger I out. I wanted to do some of my other FPV tanks, but the Abrams is still in the shop, and the Tiger II was having weird video interference issues.
Took some pictures and posted them at the end of the video.

Taigen Leopard 2A6 Upgraded

Putting this out to show what I have done with Taigen Leopard 2A6. In the first picture you can see the inside of the chassis where most of the upgrades are, except for the Henglong gun barrel/mantlet/Airsoft unit (you can see the white of the HL Airsoft unit though, as opposed to the black Taigen/Torro Airsoft unit). I put in the Elmod MFU, speaker, and motors a while ago. Yesterday and part o...
Loading the tank

Short video. First time taking the tank out. Had a bit of a false start as the motors weren’t properly secured after I took everything apart and put it back together. But I got practice loading up the tank, securing it, and figured out what tools I need to take with me next time to fix it out in the field. I liked this video because I feel like it gives a good sense of scale to the tank.

I worked from dawn to dusk on this. I'm really happy with it. I removed the sound from the video because the mic was picking up a lot of noise. I'll figure that out another day.
Henglong 1/8 Scale Abrams Breakdown

This is a short slide show of me working through how to open up the Henglong 1/8 scale Abrams tank. You might need to pause to read my comments on some of the pictures. I couldn’t figure out how to lengthen the duration of the slide show on the app I was using on my phone. To be clear, there were no instructions or schematics included with the tank, and nothing to be found online. Their custome...
1/8 Scale Abrams, Putting It To The Test
Переглядів 4,2 тис.Місяць тому
So I finally got some time today to take it out. Went down to the park and ran it around a bit. Tried to go over a rock bed with big 8”-12” rocks. It ended up getting stuck on something right away. Was disappointing but understandable. If a big rock gets wedged underneath the hull, not much you can do. Next I drive it around over mulch, euonymus, and smaller rock beds that would’ve given the 1/...

So I pulled the trigger on Henglong’s 1/8 scale Abrams late September and it finally arrived today. Looking at the exterior, it’s basically just a scaled up version of their 1/16 model. Same aesthetic choices, although the handles are actual handles and not molded out of the hull. Some of the hatches on the back of the hull open on this, where they do not on the 1/16 model. On the turret, the d...

I think this was at Aberdeen before
Can the Marines get these when the DoD decides it was stupid to take their tanks away?
Well said criminal
Thats cool as i got 1 16 big enough for for me any bigger would have to build a shed out the backyard to store them 😆 🤣
@@TheNicky12882 yeah there are definitely some additional logistical issues I’m having to adjust to with having a tank this large and heavy
You can change sound by pressing G+K , 2nd Machine gun sound is K+(Machine gun Button) ;D
@@lt.SovietUnion yeah I figured that out. Still not great, but better I guess.
What company make this?
@@LAVODKA12 This is Taigen’s Late Tiger I, but I modified it myself to have FPV. The camera is Team Black Sheep’s Ultra Tiny Camera
Good video, do one of the Abrahms
@ Unfortunately both of my Abrams are in pieces right now, awaiting parts, paint, and time to do it.
What's wrong with the 1/8 Abram? Hopefully you'll get it running soon
@ I fought the snow, and the snow won. Also I have an idea to jury rig some electronics and cameras using the MFU’s one servo port, so I’m going to give that a shot when those parts come in
I've checked the price, wouldn't you be better with an Armortek at this price ? I know they don't do Abrahms, but still plenty of choices
@@Cormano980 You just gave my reasoning. They don’t make an Abrams. I’m more into modern tanks. I’d make an exception for a Tiger II, but they aren’t making that now right now either. The most modern thing they have is a Leopard 1, which just doesn’t do anything for me. Also this model comes RTR, painted, and with air soft. Probably most people who are getting stuff at this scale for this price don’t care about these things but I do. I will say having seen many ArmorTek assembly videos, the build and material quality does seem to be better than Henglong’s at this scale. If I were going to get a Tiger I I would get ArmorTek’s. In Henglongs defense their level of detail is much greater with this than their 1/16, and they smartly chose a 36V battery with matching motors to give it an almost scale speed (estimated 5 MPH for the model versus 5.27 MPH for scale)
@KYTANKGUY oh, ok, so it's a matter of personal favourite, that makes sense, and yeah Armortek kits take a lot of time to assemble and paint The KT is definitely worth getting and I've seen them pop up from time to time on second hand forums already assembled and finished
Super cool mod. Thank you for posting it. Do you happen to have a link to the cannon smoke kit you used? I found a couple of them but am not sure which one would come with that pneumatic fitting. Thanks!
@@jonathanyoon8651 This one I got from MotionRC. I have gotten another version from AliExpress that was cheaper. The cheaper one has a smaller air pump and installation isn’t as easy, but I wouldn’t say it was difficult. The smaller air pump didn’t really seem to make a difference either. Also there is another version out there with some kind of dial on it that lets you adjust the amount of smoke blown out. Not sure who carries that one. Both of the kits I got had that fitting. Just make sure you get a kit made for HL tanks. I think ones made for Torro/Taigen assume you have an IR setup where you can shove the smoke tube directly up the barrel, and so they won’t have the pneumatic fitting.
@@KYTANKGUY Thank you! I'll look at motion rc then.
Wow. That banana looks soo tempting I might have to buy a tank. 😮😂
A m1a2 in dubai the mo vlog's moving
Beautiful tank, just subscribed😊
That is steep, 90 kg? Or 60kg?
@@rob500100 The purchase page says over 60 KG for the tank and 95 KG for the tank + packaging. The delivery company had the package as weighing 250 lbs (113 KG). 60 KG is around 130 lbs, I lift regularly and it seems like more than 130 lbs to me, but it could be because of the awkward shape. Each motor felt like it weighed 30 lbs give or take to me when I held it in my hand. The motors add a lot of weight, but the whole thing is metal.
The motors are mega,i bet the tank would take a lot of stopping
@ So a couple of tidbits, There’s no parking break in this rc tank. If it’s on an incline it will roll downhill unless you put the stick slightly in the opposite direction to make it stop. Henglong’s 1/8 Tiger I uses 24v motors, and while their 1/6 uses 36v motors (probably the same ones) it weighs 75kg more than the Abrams (135kg total) so it probably moves much slower than the Abrams. I’m not sure about their Leopard 2A4, but I saw a video the other day showing that ArmorTek uses 24v motors for their 1/6 Tiger II. Point being, this tank is probably one of the fastest large scale tanks out there, at least out of the box. Runs just shy of 5 MPH (8KPH).
What does it weight ? Seems to be over 35 kg.
That's a big heavy tank, awesome looking, more videos of it, especially climbing, not many videos of tanks doing that
I like these videos, 👍👍
Horrific that they cut up that tank like that. 🙃💀
What a catastrophic mess they made out of one of the most iconic industrial art masterpieces Destroyed it.
Interesting showacse, sad that they dont provide a user manuel, thats often the problem chinas made product, i buy a lot from aliexpress, and do miss it always.

@@warshipalbum can you elaborate on your alloy comment? Would like to know more.

Amazing! Just curious about how sturdy it is - no damage after all of that rough driving?
@@diverspudph I did make one of the tracks slip the drive sprocket, so I’ve got to fix that. Couple of paint scapes. That’s about it.
Thanks for responding!
@@diverspudph So an update, I tried to take it out in 7-9” snow that was kind of wet. This was a mistake and I did some damage that requires some part replacement, but they were good about getting back to me and sending me the parts I needed, they just asked that I pay for the shipping.
@@KYTANKGUY Awww sorry to hear! I guess snow/water could mess things up. That's reassuring to hear that they will send replacement parts though!
I wish Heng Long had an Easy 8 model!
@@DaytonDempsey-x3z YES! Would be nice if someone besides Hooben and Tamiya made one. I’d even take a m4a3 upgrade kit to turn it into an e8.
Any different with 1/16? What’s the price?
@ Besides the size and being all metal, there are surprisingly few differences. -the commanders cupola rotates, but the CITV does not -there are some hatches on the back of the chassis that open with the 1/8 that do not with the 1/16 -I believe the drivers hatch opens, but it feels stuck. -all of the handles are actual handles and not molded out of the chassis or turret -the gunners sight doors open and close Just about everything else is the same, but you know all metal, and heavy. Same mistime recoil, same not great sound set, exact same transmitter. The Airsoft gun uses 9mm pellets, which I can’t seem to find anywhere else, and also the range actually seems a little worse than the 1/16 models. I wonder if they used the exact same plunger system that’s in the 1/16, now it’s trying to push a 9mm ball instead of a 6mm ball, so the range isn’t great. I’ll find that out soon. Because it’s all metal, the tow points can actually be used to tow stuff.
@ thanks for answering, I’ll love to have one when it selling in my country . Believe that BIG SCALE BIG REALISTIC.
Американцы такие танки испоганили
that's a pretty great early christmas gift you have there.
God damn bro that thing is sick. I have a few 1/16 heng longs and I've been eyeballing the 1/8 tiger for a while now and this one is even more expensive. My question though is do you really feel satisfied with it and think the money was well spent? I'm just going back and forth on biting the bullet.
@@keith91z28 So I really love the Abrams, and I think because of this I am happy. However there are some issues I wish they could have fixed. -range on the Airsoft gun is lacking compared to some 1/16 models -sound set is the same from 1/16, which is incorrect to begin with -they made the commanders cupola rotate, which is cool, but not the CITV, which is weird because on the modern variants of the tank the cupola is now welded in place while the CITV rotates 360° -barrel recoil timing is incorrect just like the 1/16 models. Also the barrel recoils into itself instead of the manlet, just like the 1/16 HL Abrams. -the antenna on the turret are pretty poorly made. -no glass in any of the the periscopes -no cupola machine guns, spare parts, turret generator, or combat ID panels -for the price it would’ve been nice if they had included an option to be able to use your own 8 channel receiver/transmitter instead of the standard HL transmitter. All this being said, I cannot deny how cool having a 130 lb full metal Abrams is. Pictures and video do not do the scale justice. Also there are tons of WWII 1:6 models out there by ArmorTek, and they have done some early Leopard variants, but no one else out there is doing an Abrams in 1/8 or 1/6 scale right now, so this is pretty much your only choice unless you design it yourself. A lot of the above issues I can fix, it’s just for the price I feel like I shouldn’t have to. Something to consider between the their Abrams and their Tiger I with respect to speed. Their 1/8 Tiger I used a 24v battery, the 1/8 Abrams uses a 36v. Their 1/6 Tiger also uses a 36v, but also weighs 88 pounds more than the 1/8 Abrams, so their Abrams is probably their fastest model, which I clocked today at 4.94 MPH. If you have a need for speed.
Do you have a link for it?
@@DigiDarkness www.henglongtanks.com/products/hl-1-8-fullmetalm1a2-spf5
I can't see it like a 1:8 tank . Can you compare with a 1:16 tank ?
@@warshipalbum I actually have their 1/16 scale Abrams, but it’s in pieces right now awaiting detailing and paint. I’m not sure if there’s a way to update a video on UA-cam with a picture. I’ll put a picture of a 1/16 scale tank in with the next video I post of it. Pictures and video don’t really convey the size of this tank accurately, it’s seems huge in person.
You can get a sense of its size within the first minute. Look at how big it is compared to that park bench. And you can just visualize a person sitting on that bench and see how large the tank is.
Oh. It is all metal and expensive. I think is special order .
@@warshipalbum @ Yes, I ordered it late September, Shipped via boat mid October, and arrived December 19th. It was a long wait.
@@KYTANKGUY You are a rich rich man . Excellent
That sounds like a diesel not a turbine...
@@old12bravo23 Yeah the sound set is wrong, I think it’s for a Leopard. There might be a way to switch it to a turbine sound set using the remote, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. But also, if you could do that, you think they would’ve done that before they shipped it? We will see.
@@old12bravo23 So it did have the option to switch between Leopard 2A6 and M1A2, but it still doesn’t sound right to me. I have the HL 1/16 Abrams with a better MFU in it that has a proper M1A2 sound set, the HL does not sound like that.
Heng Long new scale?
@@warshipalbum Relatively new? It came with a Henglong advertisement book that described this model as “Coming Soon”. So new enough that they haven’t redone their catalogue? They do a 1/8 Tiger I and a 1/6 Tiger I as well.

New subscriber. I work on post and go to these open houses as often as possible. I love those displays. Tons of history all in one building. Thanks for sharing.
This Konigstiger belonged to Pz.Abt.501 and was captured on December 24th, 1944, by the US Army's 740th Tank Bn. during the Battle of the Bulge. It was later sent to APG for analysis and testing. it was mostly on outdoor display until it was relocated to Ft. I still can't believe the turret itself weighs as much as the Bradly
It is crazy. The Bradley has paper thin aluminum armor though.

that neck is huge
Guess I'll have to make it down here. Only time I've seen a T28 in person was from a bus in Ft Benning. I heard they recovered and refurbished it from the rust, and now I know where it rests.
Thanks for posting this
Excellent tank but the Panther was better
I would think the snail would like this
Aberdeen Proving Grounds gave 😊 the Tiger I back to Germany for their tank museum years ago. For the cost of properly restoring the Tiger II , perhaps it would wiser to do the same thing with the Tiger II. Especially with the amount of AFVs from both Aberdeen Proving Grounds and the former Patton Museum awaiting restoration. 9:02
@@William-l7z Nah, it’s a big draw. I could hear people stopping there talk about it with whoever they were with, unlike a lot of the other tanks. For good or ill, I think there’s something iconic about this tank. Are there any other museums in America that have one? Speaking of restoring, they were in the middle of restoring a Jagdpanther in one of the garages near the museum. They were restoring it when I was there last in September 2023 too. At least it had moved from one garage to another in a years time.
Okay that's sick 🔥
